  1. Mine was done at Surgical Specialty Hospital at Maryland and 19th Avenue, about 1/2 a mile from where you will be. My insurance recommended overnight, but it was left up to me, so I chose to go home. My surgery started at 2:30, I walked from recovery to my room at 4:30 and I was discharged at 7 pm and home to Peoria by 8 pm. I much preferred to sleep in my own bed. I'm still taking pain meds occasionally at night since I've gone back to work and found a few new soreness areas. I could do without them with no problem, but it's here and it makes it a little easier, so I've gone for it. Make sure you go to the store and have everything you need before you have surgery - i.e. lots to drink, gas x, etc. I did sugar free popsicles, jello, crystal lite, g2 gatorade, chicken broth for the first 2 days, and then regular liquids - protein shakes, sugar free pudding, jello, skim milk, applesauce through last night. Today I get to move on to mushy food. Make sure you walk, walk, walk, and take the gas-x strips on your tongue to keep the gas pains from getting too bad starting immediately after surgery. Glad to have found a buddy! You are going to do great!
  2. Hi all, I hope it's not too late to join this thread. I had my surgery a week ago tomorrow and wanted to find a group to converse with about common experiences. I'm doing great, though I still have some noticeable pain around the incisions (primarily where the port is) and still a little gas pain, but all in all, I'm thrilled. I get to move from liquids to mushy food tomorrow which will be a nice change. Including the pre-op diet for two weeks and the week since surgery, I've lost about 16 pounds. I still find myself hungry at times but I understand that will get better after the 1st fill, which I have scheduled for December 4th. I'm so excited for those of you taking the plunge this week and next. I've ready lots of your posts and know how excited everybody is. This is going to be the best ride of our lives! Thanks for all the great advice and feedback I've already gotten from you all! My incisions are starting to itch a lot, which I'm sure is an excellent sign that they are healing! Keep up the great positive spirits!
