    The Journey begins!

Hello to all, I am a newbie who has just made the decision to be banded and I cant wait!!! I love this site it is so informative, especially for people to get all the information they need to make a good decision. I am seeing my surgeon at end of April and hoping that things will move quickly after that as I am so excited to be finally doing this...have dreamt of it for a long time but always thought it was out of reach for me......well not anymore, time for me, I am turning 40 this year and dont want to spend the next 40 obese and hating it!!! Anyway hoping to chat to other aussies that have been through it...any tips to lead up to op would be greatly appreciated as this will be a big change and I want to be mentally prepared as well as physically. Looking forward not back........

    The Journey begins!

Hi Fee, thanks for the support, you have done very well I bet you feel great! I am in Ballarat Vic and my surgeon will be David Deutcher. I am very excited and just cant wait for it to happen although I know I have to be patient.....but when you have ALOT of weight to lose and you make the decision you just want to get on with it. Over the years I have had many failures with weight loss but reading everyones success stories on here is so motivating, you just know you have made the right decision.....keep up the good work and look forward to sharing more with all....cheers :Banane04:
  4. Hi everybody, I spent the last few days enjoying reading all about banding and the great support network you offer here. I have just recently made the decision to have a lap band after 30 odd years of being obese. I turn 40 this year and this will be my present to myself. Over the years I have lost weight with dieting ect but always put it back on.....I need long term help!!!! I have my appointment with the surgeon at end of April and cant wait to get the ball rolling, I am so excited. I have loved reading about all the good and bad points of banding on here I feel I am going into this with eyes wide open and fully informed and I feel that you all really do look out for each other wich is great. I have a very long journey in front of me but i cant wait to get the petrol in the tank and take off! I probably have 60 to 70 kg to lose depending on how things go, so I will be a work in progress for a few years !! I am hoping to make some good friends on here both overseas and in Australia were I am, as I believe with the support from people going through the same experiences as myself I am never going to fail only succeed. My husband and 2 sons are excited also, even though both teenage sons are worried about change to their diets..lol. Anyway have to get ready for work soon, will put up another post again soon, thanks for being there to share with....I cant wait ...cya
