  1. Scorpioqt ~ what is a naked chicken nugget and do you have a recipe for it? Most chicken is too dry for me to handle with my band and I'm looking for some chicken recipes that may be a little more moist. Thanks!
  2. I need a menu over-haul for sure! I'm eating around my band and I know it. I plan to read the hundreds of pages of posts on this thread and get some new ideas. So far today I've had 1.5 cups of broccoli cheese soup and 1.5 cups of tortilla soup, four saltine crackers with a Laughing Cow Lite Garlic & Herb cheese wedge and a chocolate chip cookie. I KNOW...bad! Meats are hard to swallow and I opt for the easy route. I'll try to do better for supper tonight! I'm excited to find this thread! Keep posting!
  3. I can tell you that I've had port problems twice and the surgeon tells me that I didn't do anything wrong, that it just happens sometimes, sometimes depending on the muscle structure that the port is stiched down to. Two months from my original surgery I was working out hard core with a trainer and doing all kinds of ab excersizes with no problems. Then ten months after the original surgery is when I had the first port problems. I had lifted some heavy boxes getting ready for a yard sale and I actually had muscle spasms in the port area so I worried that I had done something. Sure enough, the next time I went in for a fill, my port was "floating" around and they had a hard time getting to it. The doctor kept telling me it wasn't from lifting anything and not to be trying to figure out "how" it happened. I had it fixed and then five weeks later when they went to give me a fill, it had flipped over on it's side and they could not access it. I knew I had done NOTHING wrong in those five weeks, so I was freaked out. The doc just said it happens sometimes and it is nothing that we do to cause it. He encouraged me to keep working out with a trainer, doing sit-ups and whatever else I can possibly do. So I'm not sure if this will help you - but maybe it'll put your mind at ease!
  4. Yes...I finally have restriction!!! WhoooHoooo! I talked the clinic into giving me 1 full cc and boy did that do the trick. I had to stay on liquids a little longer because of the swelling, but I'm starting to feel normal today. I'm going to take baby steps and start on solid food today!
  5. I will only have to do liquids for the rest of today, then soft early tomorrow, then solids by tomorrow night. So I ate a salad with grilled chicken from Chipotle today at lunch, I'll get my fill at 4pm today, and then if I'm hungry I'll have a Protein drink for supper tonight. I don't get to see the surgeon, only the PA, and they usually are only allowed to give .5cc at a time, but I'm going to BEG for a full cc today. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!:cursing:
  6. Okay guys...I've been lurking the last few days. Can I just start off by saying that counting calories SUX! There...now that I've said that, I feel better. I started with my "recommitt" last Monday, did pretty good for three days, then relaxed because I just can't find the time to write everything down or log on to fitday. So...to make a really long story short...my weight has stalled this week and I didn't commit to ANY of my weekly goals like I intended to. I did walk one day, but have found excuses for all the other days. So...how do I stop this vicious cycle? I'm going to pick myself up and start over today. I'm not sure that I can actually commit to logging my foods and then really carry through with it all week, but I'm going to commit to making slow and clear decisions before I eat this week. Don't eat unless I'm truely hungry (which I seem to do all the time), and don't drink anything with calories, other than Protein shakes, and don't drink with my meals!!!! I go in today for my first fill since my port revision surgery, so I'm praying for restriction! I hope everyone is off to a good start this week! We can do this...I know we can!
  7. No I haven't tried the pouch test yet, although I may try that if I'm not successful this week. I did pretty good yesterday, logging in at 1440 calories, but today is another story. I have been so hungry! I've got to get some low cal Snacks to bring to work to help between meals. I start my morning at 4:30 a.m., and usually have my Protein shake around 5:30 a.m. - so by 10 a.m. I'm ready to start chewing on my arm! lol! I have a 10cc capacity band and I'm at 6cc right now. My doctor only gives .5cc fills every two weeks after you hit the 4cc mark, so it's slow going. My next fill is Monday the 12th, so I can't wait!
  8. Hey everyone! Well I promised on Friday that I'd officially start my goals on Monday - and dangit - Monday is here! I usually get by with the motto "why do today what you can put off until tomorrow", but I refuse to keep waiting for tomorrow's weight loss. I started back to solid foods this weekend and I still have absolutely NO restriction. It makes me furious when I think about the $20K that I've spent, but I've decided to train myself to a new way of thinking. I'm going to quit waiting on the band to start working and begin working this thing myself! I have no more excuses - I hold myself accountable - not the band. I pray that as I re-start my journey, I'll eventually get restriction with fills every two weeks. My goals this week: 1 - sign up for fitday.com and start logging EVERYTHING I put in my mouth. (I counted the calories in my protien shake this morning and didn't realize it has 400 calories...yikes!) Try to stay between 1200 and 1500 calories each day. 2 - drink 1 liter of Water each day. I know this isn't much, but it's more than my usual and I'm going to take baby steps. 3 - excersize three times this week (my kids bought me the Biggest Loser Boot Camp workout DVD for my birthday yesterday). 4 - Don't drink any liquids with high calories - stick to crystal lite and un-sweet tea (I'm bad about gatorade and sweet tea). I've got many more goals that I need to work on (such as not drinking with meals), but I don't want to get overwhelmed the first week - so I'll start with these. THERE - now I've said it out loud - I HAVE TO DO THIS!!! Good luck everyone!
  9. Oh girl...I have no clue how many calories I'm eating because I haven't been writing everything down! I know I should be, but I've got a ton of stuff going on this weekend (including my birthday), so I decided to be realistic and start logging my food and counting calories on Monday. I know...I should start now, but I know this weekend will be a whirlwind and I didn't want to set myself up for disappointment. As far as restriction - I guess I can say I do feel some satiety when eating, but I'm so grasping for that actual "restriction" that I haven't had since June this year when all my problems started. I long to feel that "that's it" moment, when you know that you can't eat any more without PB'ing. I know that is a sick way to look at things! I'm really going to begin working on the emotional / mental aspect of this thing this weekend. For so long, I've wanted the band to do it's thing, but I wasn't willing to meet it half-way. I need to learn to do what I can and let the band be the "tool" that it was intended to be...not the cure all that I expected!
  10. Hi everyone! Well...I had my port revision on Tuesday the 30th and I'm back at work today. The surgeon gave me a 1cc fill during the revision and I'm aggravated because I STILL do not have restriction! It feels like I don't even have a band! Arrrggggg!!!! I'm at 6cc in a 10cc band. I'm calling this morning to set my appointment for my next fill. I want to get on with this weight loss thing! lol! Just wanted everyone to know the revision surgery went well and I'm having very little pain. I haven't been writing my food down since I'm still on soft foods through this weekend, but I'm planning to start writing EVERYTHING down on Monday. Happy New Year! Let's make 2009 the time to shine!!! Elizabeth
  11. Yes, unfortunately, I know those comments and looks all too well. Sometimes I wish I had just not told ANYONE that I had the surgery! It is so embarrassing! I haven't set any goals yet...I suppose that would be a good start! lol! Since I'm having my port revision surgery tomorrow, can you tell me what the "norm" for a port revision post-op diet is? My revision surgery last month involved moving the band, so it was like the first surgery, I had to be on liquids for a week, softs for a week and then progress into solids. I cannot lose that way...potato Soup likes me too much! I know they'll give me guidelines when I leave the surgery center, but I was wondering what your rules were. I'm not sure how to set realistic goals when I don't know what I'll be able to eat. I'll start with this goal...I promise myself that I will not eat unless I am really hungry. I'm such an emotional eater and I didn't even realize it until I started reading this book called "Breaking Free From Emotional Eating" by Geneen Roth, which is so far very inspirational. Elizabeth
  12. Wow...a support group just for me! lol! I've failed my band miserably! I was banded 10-2007 and losing slowly (not taking full advantage of my new tool). Then in May of 2008, I got a fill and was "too tight" but tried to work with it anyway because I wanted so badly to lose! This was not a good idea, and I wound up with a slipped band and then recurring dialation and eventually had to have a band revision on 11-2008 where they moved my band up to the weak spot and also replaced and moved my port, which had come loose and was "floating". I went in to get my first fill last week (five weeks post-op from revision) and wouldn't you know it...my port has already flipped. If its going to happen, trust me, it will happen to me! I still have absolutely NO restriction and I'm ready to get on with this losing weight thing! I have my second revision surgery tomorrow to flip the port around again. Wish me luck!!!!

    Port flipped!!!

Bratz99 & TulipStar - how have you two been since your port revision? I've just had the same thing happen and I'm going in tomorrow for a revision - I'm six weeks post-op and have absolutely NO restriction so far!
