April 06 Bandsters, how are we doing?
Wow so many memories of our first year when we practically lived on this forum. I miss all of you and think of you often. I had a rough year 2 and year 3 and gained back most of the 75 I lost my first year. I am back on track and am only 4 lbs away from 100lbs lost. I hope everyone is doing well.

Tighter as you lose?
Trust me I'm not eating more, I count every calorie. But I did have a cold last week and my body has never liked heat and it has been a bit warm. I wasn't worried about it until I actually threw up from drinking water too fast on an empty stomach. But maybe it was because of my cold, or maybe some cucumber from lunch (3 hours prior) was still in my pouch and the combo wasn't good. Either way if that happens again I think I will have to go in to get a tiny bit out.

Tighter as you lose?
Has anyone gotten tighter as they lose and need an unfill? I seem to be getting tighter with every pound I lose. I hate to pay the money for an unfill if I don't have to. Anyone else experience this?

It's been a while...
It has been so long since I've been here, most of you probably have no clue who I am. But I have a story to tell. For those of you just starting out or for those veterens out there. It doesn't matter how long you've been banded you can always start fresh and make your band work for you. I lost 75lbs my first year and then tragedy struck, my mom died way too young of cancer, and well I learned how to eat around my band and even had it unfilled in 2007. Last November (2009) I was finally ready to work at it again, I got my first fill in what seemed like forever but I had gained back 45lbs. Today I am 5lbs away from the 100lbs lost mark! Don't give up out there, you can do it too! Don't let anyone tell you that you're a failure because you are a winner! So go WIN!!!

Haven't been here in a while, so here goes...
Thanks guys  Hi Libra, hi Susan good to see both of you :cursing: Shortgal thanks for the link I'm gonna try that. I know my pouch is still working though. A couple bites of bread and I'm in trouble. But It sounds like a good plan to help break the sugar cycle that I am so struggling with.

Haven't been here in a while, so here goes...
Time for true confessions and recommittment. For those who don't know my story here is the quick catch up. I was banded almost 2 years ago I lost 85lbs my first year, not the biggest loser but not too shabby. Then tragedy struck and I lost my mother way too young to cancer. Since then I have gained back, gulp 30lbs. I have spent this last year feeling like a loser (not in the good sense) staying home and not wanting to be seen because everyone knows i had the surgery and everyone must be thinking i've failed. I have been living in one big pitty party and it's time to send the Cookies packing and the ice cream, and all the other unwanted guests that have found their way into my pantry and fridge. I have needed to make this post and be accountable for some time but have been afraid to admit my failure. Now for the good part. I know that I am not a failure, I have just had a bad year. Who cares if people around me think I'm a fat failure because I know that I still have my band and it still works, if they have nothing better to do with their time than to judge me then that's their problem. I can quit eating junk, I did it for a whole year. I can do it again. It's silly to think that lifes troubles won;t throw us a few set backs, hey it's life. This has just proven to me that I do need to find a healthier way to deal with my emotions than to eat junk. Life is a lesson. Now for the really good part. Recommitment. Today, I am going back to eating right, no sugar, no fried foods, no simple carbs, protien first then veggies and fruit, drink lots of Water. I can do this.

1000 calories and still not losing!! help!
Kago I'm sorry but not all calories are created equal especially for women. We have hormones that stall weight loss and those hormones are often triggered by certain foods. My own pcp chooses medications for me based on will this stall your weightloss or not. There are more factors than calories alone. Calories in vs calories out is certainly true to an extent but it is not the end all. Just ask anyone here who suffers from pcos we will all tell that calories are only one factor in a very complicated equation.

Back and considering "the Sleeve"
I have to admit that I am emotional eater too and if I ever lost my band I would totally go for a "sleeve". And actually on bad days or weeks I've often thought I would switch if I had the money to do so. I do suggest that you also post this query on the "life after the lap band" sub forum because I know there are folks there who have had lots of different wls's after beging banded that may or may not visit this part of the site and I would consider their input very valuable Good luck on your decision and journey :Banane20:

1000 calories and still not losing!! help!
I can tell you from personal experience that certain foods even if withing your calorie range can stall weightloss and even make you gain. No it doesn't make sense, and no it isn't fair. But if I replace one 350 calorie meal with 350 calories of any high sodium processed food I will not lose and will sometimes gain. This phenomenon is why people gain weight from soft food syndrome when their bands are too tight. I would try changing one thing for a couple of weeks and see if you start to lose. And keep cycling through foods that might be the culprit until you've gone thru all of them that could be the problem.

Road to "TWOterville"
If I had known that a year ago I would have never gone in for more fills and therefore end up way too tight. Until yesterday they always just asked about vommiting not that and pb's so I never made the connection that they aren't the same at all. For me pb's don't even involve slime, vommiting sure does though. I wonder how many others who are banded don't know this. Well today I had real food that included a homemade fish taco, yum. If anyone uses the non breaded gorton's fish filets they make great fish tacos. If anyone wants the recipe I created just let me know One fish taco came out to app 621 cal. so it's not a totally low cal meal but it is band friendly (if you can do tortillas) and super yummy.

Well they took out 1.5cc's to let all my swelling go down becaues of my bad vomit cycle. Apparently I have been confused as to what a pb really is. People here on LBT make them sound so horrible and for some i suppose they may be. I thought it wasn't a pb unless you actually threw up, but anytime you burp and a little something comes back into your throat that is a pb! It doesn't seem terrible at the time, at least not for me but it does irritate the stoma causing swelling. Well I was doing that several times a day and finally got so irritated that I was throwing up nearly everyday and pb'ing everytime i tried to eat anything even thick liquids. Long story short I am back to 8cc's and my goal is to try to listen to my body better and look for the little signals that I up till now i was ignoring and to only eat when i am actually hungry.

Josette I totally hear you on the whole grieving over your mom. It has only been since last January for mine but in this last month I experienced my first birthday without her and we are quickly approaching my first thanksgiving and christmas without her too. It will get better, it has to.

Road to "TWOterville"
Anyone miss me? Sorry I have been missing in action lately. Life has definitely had it twists and turns. I have been too tight for several months now doing the soft food thing and this last week I've even had a hard time with thick liquids. Of course in that state I have lost nothing because I have replaced vegetables and fruit and protien with soft mushy foods loaded with the only thing that can make them that soft, fat! and thus calories. I am getting a slight unfill on Monday until then it is pretty much gonna be liquid city with a few extreme mushies in the evening when I tend to loosen up a little bit. I't strange how when we are struggling we stay away from those who are there to help and support us. I will try to be better about checking in and hopefully I will be ready to join a challenge soon and get this weight heading down again.

Katie, 30lbs is great! I know we all want the miraculously fast weight loss, but honestly very few get that. Your excersize is more for maintaining your muscle and cardiovascular health than for weightloss. 30 minutes on the treadmill is I think somewhere in the neihgborhood of 300-400calories, so it's not going to make a huge impact to your loss as far as a pound per day or anything. It takes a week to walk off a pound if you are vigilant about walking everyday. Remember slow and steady wins the race Insub, when you only weigh once a week or even less it can be very difficult to determine where you are really at with your weight. I weigh everyday so I see the Water fluctuations and the difference sometimes even between morning, afternoon and night! It is a good study if it doesn't discourage you. For example on Tuesday I weighed 277, then yesterday (wed) I was 278.5 and then today I was 276.5. Now we all know that that is not possible in terms of body fat loss and gain. Especially since I stayed within my calorie range all of those days and for a good week prior. It was water flux pure and simple. Now I have seen my water flux go as high as 5lbs! For some that is a months work of weight loss. Imagine if the flux happened on the one weigh day per month or week and they thought they gained instead of lost! How discouraging that would be. If you don't weigh yourself at home take out a tape measure and measure everything! and track it. Now inches don't come off as quickly as pounds. For me it is about 10lbs per inch, but it is a very reliable way to track your loss.

Katie, chin up girl! Passing the border into twoterville is difficult I think for a lot of people because mentally it's such a milestone. I think many of us sabotage ourselves and float around 300-305 sometimes for weeks or even months because in our heads we aren't ready. Look at what you are doing and honest look at what you are eating and what you are doing for activity and see if there is something you might be doing to stall yourself unconsciously. Well thanks for all the grats everyone and today was my first day at this new job. I spent the whole day in horrible gas pain and nausea to boot. Not sure why but was extremely tight all day. No PB's recently at all and today no sliming even just felt nauseated every time I even drank something. Maybe I'm tight or maybe I have a bit of a bug, not sure but either way it was miserable :think. All in all it was a good day, just minus food, so I'm drinking my protien tonight.

Grats 2B Welcome to the land of the 2's Well my official weigh in for the week down a total of 12lbs for the week. Now if only I can keep from getting discouraged as the loss slows down to a normal pace. The initial loss when you first start being good again is so fast and exhilirating that the slow 1-2lbs a week can seem daunting. sigh here we go into a new week Name...............................Starting……....L oss.......Current…....Goal….....ToGo losingjusme..(Christine).........293.............. ..11 .............282...........275............7 tann.............(Tammy)...........211............ ..... 3..............208..........198............10 Josette......(Josette)..............322……......... ..8..............314...........307.............7 RidinMyHDDream..(Carol)......264.................. 4 ..............260............254............6 FaithMD...............................308......... ........5..............303...........299.......... .6.4 Elisabethsew..(Elisabeth)......275................ .0..............275 ...........265............10 Libra.....(Angela)...................214.......... .......0..............214............208 ............6 glindab.................................282....... .......3.4............278.6..........265.......... .13.6 Inner_me...(Chris)..................295........... .....0..............295............280 ............15 waterlily1072...(Nicole)...........289........... ....12..............277.............0............. . 0 Rainer...(Lorraine)..................311.......... ......12..............299.............260......... .39 staindgal....(Bridget)..............319........... ....5 8...........313.2...........299..........14.2 jbtullis...(Jonathan)................317.......... ........7.............310............299.......... ..11 Insubordination.....................311........... .....6.6...........304.4...........299........... 5.4 Squale.................................334…....... ........9.............325……......310….........15 ShaunECook........................256.2........... .....0...........256.2……......245........11.2

Grats Lorraine, welcome to twoterville :clap2: And Wahoo!!! Two great things 1. Had a major crisis yesterday with dh's ex, I wanted to eat like there's no tomorrow but I DIDN'T!!! In fanct I had to have a protien shake after dinner cause I was still too low on calories and protien. 2. OK this one isn't all good but... I've been constipated this last week since cutting down on calories and intake I also have not had as much fat and Fiber... So I had to take milk of mag last night, YUK! on the bright side I dropped a lot of weight! I won't belive the scale till tomorrow because after all it's not natural to have completely empty intestines so it as to be a false low, but hopefully not by much :car: Tomorrow is my official weigh day so we'll see

Wow Christine you go girl! Going Shopping tonight after dinner and grabbing a new battery for the scale so that I can weigh in tomorrow morning. I got hungry after lunch so instead of eating I took a nap, hehe, guilty luxuries of a day off. Since I woke up I'm not really hungry, lol, go figure. But at least I didn't graze

Grats Nana :scared: Well the battery died in my digital scale so I couldn't weigh in this morning. Hopefully that will make tomorrow more fun It's our weekend with the kids so staying on track is gonna be hard, but I will do my very best. NO BAKING!!!! I will not be buying them chips or cookies and I will not be doing any baking and neither will they! They don't need that crap either. All I have to do is stay strong for todays grocery trip and that should keep me in the clear. I am plenty tight enough that the only thing I can overeat is junk. This past 3 days of being good have proven that my restriction is very good, I can eat solid protien but I have to chew really well and go slow and I fill up fast and stay full. I am taking my vitamins because I am not having much if any room for veggies, so the vitamins are vital! OK I'm done now, hehe. Happy Friday everyone the weekend is here!!!:whoo:

I would like to apologise to the gentlemen (at least one I see) that have joined us and I not notice. I have been adressing the group as ladies. Sorry to leave you guys out I had another stellar day today. After dinner I was a ways under on calories so I allowed myself some lowfat pretzels to munch on. The nice thing about them is that they aren't too bad for us and they fill me up really quick, like real quick, I have to be careful with them. So for me it takes care of late nite munchies wehn I have them. And yes I do measure them out so I know how many I am having Once again today I completely avoided the candy dish on my desk. What is it with reception desks and candy. Do companies really think they are doing anyone a favor by having those? Well see you al tomorrow skinny dreams everyone

OK so I decided to post my progress on the chart with no goal just progress. Since my great downfall to ending up back at 289 I am again back down to 284.5:whoo: If and I do mean if I were to get back into the 70's by the end of the month I'd be extatic, however I am not gonna put any pressure on myself right now to do anything other than to avoid the junk. I'm babystepping it Oh and yes the world would be a much better place if everyone did what I want them to do ;P Name...............................Starting……....L oss.......Current…....Goal….....ToGo losingjusme..(Christine).........293.............. ..13 .............280...........275............5 tann.............(Tammy)...........211............ ..... 3..............208..........198............10 Josette......(Josette)..............322……......... ..8..............314...........307.............7 RidinMyHDDream..(Carol)......264.................. 4 ..............260............254............6 FaithMD...............................308......... ........5..............303...........299.......... .6.4 Elisabethsew..(Elisabeth)......275................ .0..............275 ...........265............10 Libra.....(Angela)...................214.......... .......0..............214............208 ............6 glindab.................................282....... .......3.4............278.6..........265.......... .13.6 Inner_me...(Chris)..................295........... .....0..............295............280 ............15 waterlily1072...(Nicole)...........289........... ....4.5...........284.5.............0.............. 0 Rainer...(Lorraine)..................311.......... ......7..............304.............299.......... ..5 staindgal....(Bridget)..............319........... ....5 8...........313.2...........299..........14.2 jbtullis...(Jonathan)................317.......... ........7.............310............299.......... ..11 Insubordination.....................311........... .....6.6...........304.4...........299........... 5.4 Squale.................................334…....... ........9.............325……......310….........15 ShaunECook........................256.2........... .....0...........256.2……......245........11.2

Yay Libra :clap2: Happy Bandiversary Hope to see you back soon, good luck with the move and grts on the new job Well so far so good today for me. I really wanted junk again today, but not nearly as badly as yesterday, so that's a bright spot After dinner I am still under 1000 cal so I can have a sensible snack tonight if I so choose. Who knows may I'll treat myself to some healthy pop, hehe. Have a good evening everyone.

Road to "TWOterville"
OK I am officially out of the challenge this month. I have officially hit rock bottom of bandster shame. I won't go inot details as I wouldn't want to tempt anyone to eat the soft yummy things I have eaten this past week. I fell off the wagon into the land of easy to eat foods because I was home with no work to do and all I had was me and the pantry. Any self respecting woman can make sinful delights from the basic contents of any even healthy pantry. I was so ashamed of the damage that I have done that despite how much I wanted to give in and eat those comfort foods I snapped and said no more! Eating that crap is what got you fat to start with and eating it will only undo the hard work you've already done and have already started to undo. This chip stops here as does the pie and whatever else my brain might think that I want or need to feel good. The fact is all it does is make me feel bad within 10 minutes of eating it, sometimes sooner. Happiness and freedom is not being a slave to food, as deprived as I feel some times, ok a lot of the time, it is moments like today when I walked by those items in the store even though I really wanted them that make me see that freedom is not eating all the foods I want freedom is not having to eat those things. Our bands oare our tickets to freedom from obsessions with food as a security blanket and an answer to all of lifes problems. I wish I could give up food all together it would be so much easier. My goal is not to get to 269 by the end of the month my goal is to get my self respect backand regain self control! The scale said 289 this morning there is no way in hades that I am gonna let it say 290+ ever again. 290 is way to close to 300, heck the 80's are too close. I can't believe I let it go this far. Even my pants are tighter. Ladies, life handed me a free intervention today and I plan to ride it as far as I can. If at the end of the month I feel like I need a smidge more restriction then I will go for a fill, but I need to eat real food for several days before I can make a proper assessment as to my actual restriction. I am feeling strong right now, stronger than I have in weeks. Not only do I have the desire to be good but I finally found the strength to act on it and to say no when faced with temptation. I only hope that tomorrow I can be just as strong or stronger. Take care everyone, we owe it to ourselves to succeed at this.
