  1. I am getting banded on 19th too!!! my first date had to be rescheduled.. i have been doing pre-surg diet for 3weeks and will just keep going in stead of starting all over.. good luck!!
  2. Hi Steve!! good luck.. also from Hudson Valley...Psych eval is nothing it's the info the tell you about your self that makes you go HHMMM... only kidding.. lots of luck on your journey...:tongue2:
  3. After 6 months of monitored weight loss..losing 30+ lbs.and getting 4 days before surgery.. and getting a kick in the face.. I decided to call my Dr. office to make sure all the I's were dotted and T's were crossed.. they hadn't gotten insurance approval and my cardiologists didn't give the right paperwork!! My cardiologist is on vacation until 8/3..so I can't get "clearance" from him until he gets back! and I can't have my surgery until 8/12 or 8/19 because they are booked!!! I am so frustrated with this process.. I feel like I was doing this for nothing... Then I took a deep breath, wiped the tears away and thought.. I was not supposed to have this surgery on that day for what ever reason. I am firm believer in "everything happens for a reason", so who ever is watching over my , must have not liked that date!! I was very upset last night, then I really took a step back and realized I have more time to get my body ready for this life change.. I have had a lot of light-headedness , dizziness and nausea.. so my body must need some more time to adjust to this type of eating. ( I have been on 2 week pre-op , 2 shakes a day 1 meal a day eating) I guess I need more time.. someone must know better than me that's why my surgery was postponned...
  4. I am in week 2 of my pre-surgery diet.( date of 7/29). I have had some wicked headaches, but I forgot to drink plenty of water...oopsie! doing much better the past 2 days. You may get a little shakey/week make sure you drink plenty of fluids!!! I ca not stress that enough..Lots of luck!!
  5. My hubby decides to take the whole family for a nice dinner before my surgery. (date is 7/29-YAY!!) my loving brother-in-law and sister-in-law ask me again why I am doing this.. "you are doing soo good, why don't you just keep it up and put off surgery?" I have to say that I really have dealt with a lot of this lately. I have taken off almost 40lbs pre-surgery. I keep explaining that I will put the weight back on as soon as I get a stressed. (I am the classic stress eater) With the band I will not feel the hunger and not want to eat.. I love how people who don't have any weight issuses are so easy to give you advice!! I just don't get it... Thanks for listening to my vent, LOL!!!
  6. Oh Yeah, my date is July 29th.. forgot about that info, LOL!! I am just too excited... I have informed the rest of my family of my decision and now that I have a date and have taken off 30 lbs, they don't get why I can't continue to do this the "natural" way.. gotta love family... As I told them, I am a grown woman who can make adult decisions on my own and this is my choice, not yours!! So you can either support me or comment from the sidelines, it doesn't matter to me.. Oh yeah, I am an Aries, so I have a tendency to shoot from the hip...especially with uninformed people that I come in contact with...
  7. I started my journey back in 2007. I started looking into weight loss surgeries and really researching the best options for a women in her mid 30's. I had very good friend get her band that year. -She has not been able to make the lifestyle changes need to have a successful banding:(- My mother passed in June 2008, this was a big sign that I needed to get my self in better shape! She was a chubby child that turned into an obese woman, who then realized too late that she needed to make serious changes. I took a good long look in the mirror and realized , I need to make some changes too, NOW!!! After the holidays passed, I decided, would be the time to change. So, in Feb.2009 I went to the weight loss seminar. My husband was there to ask any questions he may have had.-He is one of those guys who researches EVERYTHING, so I knew he needed to be there with me- Thus started my 6 month adventure!! I was informed that I had to do 6 months of monitored weight loss, many tests, get approval from every Dr. under the sun and loss 5% of my weight!! I was up for the challenge. I met all the requirements and lost 10% of my body weight!! So, today I got my surgery date and am so excited to begin my new adventure. I didn't want to be too late..... I will keep you all posted as to my success!! I love that so many of you have shared your ups and downs...I will be here sharing mine too... THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT AND UNDERSTANDING!!! CC
  8. I am a 35 yr old mother of 3, and very happily married. I haven't been myslef in about 6 yrs.. since the weight has been creepy up.. I had heard of lap-band 2 yrs ago and thought I could lose this on my own. Then we found out I have RA. so certain exercises, almost all, hurt my joints. I have been very concerned about recovery time and how it will affect my household... I know I am always thinking of everyone but me. I stumbled upon this site and am looking for some HONEST INPUT!! These seminars seem to forget to tell you all the "good stuff". one of my bff's had it last year and she said no one told her she would be eating monday, then starve on tuessday!! so I just want omake sure I am making the right decision!! thanks for any input....
