    Anyone from Edmonton?

Hello everyone I started exploring and researching lapband about a year ago. A year prior to that my doctor put in a referral to the Weight Wise program in Edmonton (Dr. Sharma) and a referral to Red Deer (Dr. Ferries). I had not heard anything back until July 09 of this year from Edmonton, stating I was accepted into the program. Critiera to doing the program is completing nine modules. After completing the first module I would have my first appointment with the doctor and his team to determine what is the best route for me. My appointment for that is in Nov 09. All I know is that at the end of it all...(I have total 150lbs I need to lose, I have 35 extra lbs just from last year) I am getting this procedure done! Whether I do it here or not. I am so tired of being heavy... Anyway thanks for letting me vent or provide update...whichever that may be..... I find that my biggest struggle right now is finding a support system who understands. I need a support system to help keep me on track. If there is a group who meets or stays in contact somehow I would love to know. I need support so bad.
  2. I have been accepted into a surgery weight loss program. The process takes nine months before any lapband or gastric procedure is done. During this nine months I have to show commitment and lose some weight on my own. I am having difficulty doing that. I have like many have tried every program out there. I am wondering what others thought about Herbal Magic? I need help desperatley.

    new to this

Wish I could help you with answering some of your questions. If you browse this site you can find answers to many of your questions. That seems to help me. I like you will hopefully be getting the procedure done in the new year. If I lose my patience with our health care system I will likely go out of country. Good Luck with the procedure!
  4. Hi Connie,

How are you? Wondering how you are since your surgery. I am considering going out of country.

    Edmonton, Alberta anyone?

Hi "Losing for me" Thank you so much for your reply. I would love to get together and chat or a coffee. I am open to both. I live in rural Onoway area. Let me know when you are available to chat. Evenings work best for me....I will be out of the country for a week and back on the 17th. Mondays and Wednesday evenings work best for me for chatting. Were you banded in Edmonton? Congradulations on your incrediable weight loss. I am so looking forward to a "new healthy me"
  6. Thank you so much for the information. I really appreciate your advice. If I get the procedure done here in our province everything is covered through our health care system, but if I go outside of our province/country I will have to cover cost. I had contacted my insurance company and they do not cover the lap band but will cover stay in the hospital. Irregardless of the cost I will be still having the lap band done. I have complete one course regarding nutrition, and will be looking for anything that will help me with my goal to become healthy. Congradulations on your success with your weight loss. I am so excited, I cannot wait until the pounds start melting off.
  7. I have made the decision to have the lap band procedure done. :thumbup:Unfortunately the doctor my family doctor referred me too does not take any new referrals until June of every year. And he only takes a certain number. I had also decided that if my referral is not accepted this year then I will be getting the procedure done elsewhere. I want to get a head start on whatever it is I need to do before the surgery can take place. Do I need to be a certain BMI? My BMI is currently 42.3. Is there a particular diet I am to follow? If anyone can give me a "shove" in the right direction I would greatly appreciate. I congradulate all of you in your success.
  8. I just read your post, congradulations! I have a referral to have the procedure done in Red Deer, Alberta. If they do not take me on this year (the wait list appears to very long), I am going to Tijuana. I am excited and look forward to changing my life. Where are you from in Canada? Who is doing your fills? I think I would even travel back to Tijuana for all my fills if I needed too.
  9. Hi..I have been reading your posts to others and I must say that you are a very encouraging person who has such a positive outlook. I look forward to more. I hope you had a great holiday season!

Wow ....you look great...how much better you must feel. *sigh* my time will come very soon
  12. Hi, I was reading a post and seen that you had got your lap band done in Mexico. I am seriously considering this as well, as the wait list for Alberta is too long. Anything you would be willing to share about your experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank so much!
