  1. Okay...I have a question...a silly one maybe...I did not think of being on medication after I get the Sleeve. I get the sleeve on Nov 10. Can anyone tell me what meds I will need to be on and what their function is? Is there anything I need to take for fiber, like metamucal?

    H1N1 vaccine?

Hello everyone.....thanks for all the advice....I did hear back from Dr. Aceves...he okay the H1N1 vaccine. Like Norma, in my profession I work with children and families, and I am in the high risk category. My family doctor recommended (he and his family got it) and with Dr. Aceves blessings I got the shot and I feel fine.
  3. Everyone has probably heard of the H1N1 crisis. Well where I live the vaccine for H1N1 is available next week. My question is ...Next week is one week before my surgery. Do I risk getting sick? Will I get sick? What happens to my schedualed surgery? My workplace is strongly encourging everyone get the vaccine. I am so confused. I did send Nina (Dr. Aceves) a message to get some feedback on my concerns. Anyone else facing this or anyone had the vaccine already?

  8. Wow..thanks for the information Vegas. Did you go back to Dr. Aceves for your three month check up?
  9. Oh you must be getting so excited. I am excited for you. You are so prepared...good for you. I like you am starting the pre-opt diet early. I am so up for massages..as I love getting them. I look forward to hearing about your experience. I have my surgery with Dr. Aceves on November 10.
  10. Wow....everyone is so inspiring! What a great idea of a topic. There are so many reasons I want to be one of those "skinny bitches"...lol.... First off is to get off my BP medication, and have all the aches and pains stop. Next is be a more active parent. I have children who love to downhill ski and hike and so forth. I want to join them. I want to cherish the quality time that I can have with them before they are grown and young adults. I want to be able to shop at Victoria Secret and Lazena. I want to feel attractive and not Lumpy. I want to be energized...I want to be able to jog...do marathons...I want a second chance! *sigh*

    November Sleevers

So how is everyone feeling? The date is approaching quickly for all of us. I am counting down the days (21 days)....I am excited..but scared. I guess those feelings are all normal. My husband is coming with me so that is very comforting. I am too start the pre-opt diet 7 days prior to my procedure but I am trying to start it now. Today actually...so hopefully this won't be difficult. I am thinking anything to help make this surgery a success I am all for. I really need to shrink my liver. I have a BMI of 43. I am hoping my family doctor will provide a note for me to have the time off work afterwards. I have an appointment with him after I return home. I work on salary so I need a medical note. Anyways....I must say that I really appreciate all the support I get from this site...I love it! I would never have been able to go through this alone without everyone's knowledge and support!
  12. Hello everyone, I have my surgery schedualled on November 10. My question is..this is also the same time as my TOM. I am concerned about this, not sure if this will affect anything. :bored0:

    Any other Canadians out there?

Thanks for all the info ladies! I went to my family doctor yesterday. He was supportive in my decision. He wants to see me as soon as I return the following week. Which is good. So now all I do is count down the days. :smilielol5:

    Any other Canadians out there?

I just thought of another question. What did everyone say at Customs in US/Canada for the reason you are leaving the country? Or on the forms you fill out? I usually put vacation, but then again this is not a vacation. I am going to Tijuana for my surgery. I fly out on November 8 and return November 13.

    Any other Canadians out there?

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend. I had a chance to look over the pre-opt diet that was emailed to me from Dr. Aceves team. It seems very much like the Atkins diet. I think I can handle that. I was thinking today....my husband's and my Christmas party through our workplace is going to be tough to get through. The events are about a month after I have my surgery. Did anyone seek support through a nutrionist or counselling for over eating? I am thinking that I should do that after my surgery. I know I do not want to gain back any of the weight after my surgery. I have an appointment with my family Doctor tomorrow. I will be telling him my plan about going to Dr. Aceves for this surgery. I am hoping that he will be supportive with my decision. I need my doctor to write a note for my workplace so I can have the time off of work. I am hoping that will not be an issue. Anyway I am probably babbling. I will keep everyone update. I have to say that I love this site. I have learned so much from everyone and will continue to. Once I figure out to post pictures I will definitley be doing that. Take care Jenn

    Any other Canadians out there?

Well guess what??? Yup you got it! I am booked for my surgery with Dr. Aceves for November 10, 2009! Wow..I did not think it could happen that quickly. I have so many questions.....lol.....how big is the incision? Does Alberta Health Care reimburse any amount of the money? Can I claim it as a tax deductable? Do I bring a night gown or pj top and bottom?....lol..see a variety of questions....is anyone else getting the sleeve in November with Dr. Aceves?

    My VSG Story

I am going through the process of booking for hopefully November 10. Thank you so much for your story Judy. I too have chosen to go to Dr. Aceves. I am excited and scared at the same time. I really appreciate you sharing your story. I now know what to expect. My husband will be going with me as well. I will let everyone know how my process goes. Cheers!

    Any other Canadians out there?

Hi Hottstuff, I am planning to have the procedure done in November in Mexico. I am just trying to decide with who and where. Have you decided yet where you are going?
  22. I will do that thanks Donna

  23. Thats great... :) I spoke with my husband a bit more about going to Mexico and he is all for it...but would only like me to do some more research. Have they been doing the Vertical Sleeve surgery in Tijuana for a long time? I have only read about the lap band being done there. How have you been feeling since the surgery? Is your family doctor supportive of your decision? Have you been able to follow up with your family doctor for any aftercare? I am so full of questions...and excited but scared at the same time.

    Any other Canadians out there?

Good Morning, It was so awsome to read everyone's posts. Wow a nice group who has it all together. I am so temped to go ahead and book for surgery to be done elsewhere, instead of waiting for the nine months in the program I am involved with. Stoongal can you tell me where you got your surgery done at? That is so affordable for me. I love to get to know everyone better. Have a great day!

    Any other Canadians out there?

Hi Henner, I am your neighbor....I live in Alberta. Like you, I am hoping that I qualify for the VSG through out health coverage. My first initial appointment is in November. I waited for two years to get into this program that is offered in Edmonton, Alberta. I am finally in and have to attend classes and wait for my initial consult. I have discussed with my husband if I am turned away for getting this suregery, then I will go elsewhere to get it done. It was nice to meet you. Jenn
