I was banded 11-4-08. It was the best decision that I ever made in regards to my health. I wish that I had done this several years ago. I am doing great! I have lost 23lbs so far. I have been able to cut my insulin dose in half. My blood sugar and blood pressure are normal for the first time in a very long time. I had my very first fill on the 10th. I recieved 1.5cc and had a total of 4.5 in the band.Oh, by the way the fill doesn't hurt at all! Whew was I worried. I am still working at eating slower and taking smaller bites. The only thing that I miss is soda and I crave Coke Zero. I am doing so well that I have to pinch myself to believe it.:shades_smile: -

Thank you. I am doing excellent. The only real restrictions that I have is to avoid lifting greater than 10lbs and no stooping or bending. He said, that if I felt like it, I could return to work today. I am still sore across the top of abdomen other than that I am fine. I will drive for the first time today. It is amazing that I am not hungry. I cannot believe how this feels.

Hello Everyone! I am officially banded as of Nov 4th. Oh my, where do I even begin to start? As of one week pre-op diet and post banding I have lost 17.5 lbs. I never dreamed that anything could feel this great so quick. Everything went well with surgery. I spent one night in the hospital and home by 4:00pm the next day. Absolutely no hunger at all! I couldn't believe it. I am a little sore, but moving great. I have had no gas from the surgery like some have talked about.The only problem is the soreness across the top of my stomach. I do have seven small incisions the largest approx 1.5 to 2 in. Good luck everyone on your upcoming dates! It is worth it. There is no explaination of the way that you will feel.

Hi, I am scheduled for Nov 4th in Denison Tx with Dr Kureshi. I am sooooo excited that the time has finally come that I can actually feel like things are changing for me. Are you doing well with pre-op? I have had a hard time with the liquids because of the sweet taste of the protein shakes. I'm losing weight and I do feel like my liver has shrunk some. I think that is what the pre-op is all about. I wish you the best on tues.:smile2:

I hear you! I want to be less than half the woman I am this time next year. My date is tues Nov 4th @ 8am. I'm soooooo excited. I started the lapband process in Sept and was approved 10/15/08.:smile:

My name is Tammy and I've been married to a good man for 29 yrs. He is a military officer/writer/rancher/ordained minister. We have four children 28,25,24,13 and we are grandparents to five little boys! What fun when they are all here. I too have been overweight for most of my life. I had a hard time growing up and being the one everyone picked on about weight. I am anxious to have a new life in the world of the slender people. I am looking forward to getting healthier and taking back control of my life instead of food controlling me.

Congratulations on the 5lb weightloss! You are on the right track. I have had the same concerns that I was going to wake up and find that my liver had not shrunk enough. I think the worst thing for me with this pre-op as I have said to others is the sweet taste being excellerated in the protein drinks. I am more of a food eater instead of sweets and so, this is hard for me. I'm not giving up though. I am so excited to be this far into the process. Tues the 4th is just around the corner for me. Hang in there you will make it just fine. If you are losing then that is what they want you to do. Good luck to you.

I'm scheduled the 4th as well. I have been on the liquids and yuck, yuck! I'm having a hard time with the sweet taste being magnified it's terrible! Good luck to you on the 4th and Best wishes. -
This pre-op diet is the pits. I'm trying very hard to find something that I can tolerate. I'm having a super sensitive taste to sugar right now, the taste seems magnified. I suppose the diarrhea is another side effect of the liver cleanse. The protein shakes are not my favorite drink so I'm going to need ideas on how to change the flavors. It's five days till surgery and the start of a new life for me. I'm so excited a little anxious but nothing I can't handle.

I love nursing and I have worked as a Hospice nurse myself. I loved it although it does take it's toll on you eventually. I am so excited that next Tuesday my life will change forever! Yes I hope that we can be a support to each other thru this lifelong change. I start liquids tomorrow and then one week later banding. I really do not care for the protein shakes any suggestions? -

I am new also. I am looking at the band as a miracle for me. I have been overweight most of my life and now I realize that I have the chance to change things. I guess reality hit home when my kids were dicussing my surgery and made the statement that they had never known mom without a weight problem. I really want to be a happy healthy mom and nurse! -
I hear you loud and clear! I have been trying to do the liquids and cut way back on calories although I'm not officially suppose to start pre-op till tues the 28th. I have been alittle grouchy and I have to find a way to take in the water. I have spoken with others and they tell me there is something about the band that will definitely help with some of the hunger and create a sense of fullness. Tammy

I am so excited it's finally approved and surgery is set. I start my liquid diet the 28th of this month. I started my journey toward weightloss with my first appointment Sept 14th this year. Tricare Reserve Select is my insurance and they were so fast with my approval I could not believe it. I would love to hear from any of Dr Ikram Kureshi's patients in the Denison Tx area.
