I was approved very quickly with Tricare. they have been excellent with my banding. They have paid very well this year after banding......

OMG the gas is awful. My pouch swells and it hurts when I try to drink soda. UGH! Best to avoid it........

Don't be nervous it's not that bad. Just look forward to the results. You will be so happy once it is over. The lab tests are nothing. The decision to have surgery was the best decision that I have ever made. My only regret is that I didn't make it sooner. good luck to you.

Hi ya'll. It does get better.. The gurgles either get quieter or you just get used to them. I'm not sure. I still have them and they are usually when it would be so nice to not have them. I was banded 11/04/08 and have not had any regrets whatsoever. Hang in there.

I remember how i felt before my first consultation appointment. The apprehension left after the first visit and I knew this was for me. It has been life changing for me. I was a very brittle Diabetic and on several medications for Blood Pressure problems. I no longer take any medications for anything. Just think of the benefits of surgery at your age as apposed to someone my age. Hope that you find some support near you. My advice would be to find a local support group and utilize the lapband forum for additional support. Good luck to you.

Well, I know where you are coming from.... been there. I do not regret this surgery whatsoever. it has changed my life drastically my HGAb1C went from 11.8 to 6.2 from 11/04/08 to 08/12/09 I no longer wear insulin pump/60-70 unit Novolog per day to no insulin. i do not take any other medications for diabetes or blood pressure. so, if you ask me I would do it all over again........My weight has gone from 258 to 178.2.

highest wt 258, preop wt 245, surgery date 110408 238 current wt 178.2 goal wt 125.

This post was an earlier post.. I am now no longer taking any more insulin and blood pressure medication. My diabetes is completely gone...........yipee! Best thing that I have ever done is to be banded....

hang in there its not that bad.... I was terribly frightened when I went in for my surgery. It was not bad. I had absolutely no complications and I feel like my surgery was a success and I'm still making progress.

I was banded on 11/04/08 and I started out at 258 before surg and the day of surgery weighed in at 238lbs. I am now at178lbs and feeling great. I do not regret my decision to be banded whatsoever, I absolutely love the fact that I no longer wear and insulin pump or have to take any type of BP meds. My bloodsugar is normal all the time. It is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.......

JoeJoe great Job on the weight loss. I had surgery on the 4th of Nov. I am down to 198 from 248. It is a slow but wonderful process. I no longer have to wear my insulin pump and take blood pressure medication.

I have Tricare Reserve Select. I was very pleased with the response that I recieved when i decided to go with the Band. I saw the Dr 09-15-08......... and had my surgery on 11-04-08. They paid very well. As soon as I had my pre- test and dietary and psych eval out of the way I was approved for surgery at one week out.

I am doing well since my surgery. I have been able to reduce my insulin and blood pressure medication significantly since 11-04-08. I do not regret my surgery and i would certainly do it again. I am a totally different person since my banding. I am excited about the changes that I feel in my body. I have more energy and stronger mentally an physically.:laugh:

I have Tricare Reserve Select in the South Region. I was approved within the two months that I had all scheduled consults etc. I was 100lbs overweight with co-morbidities of HTN, Diabetes. It was very easy for me.I think Tricare is one of the better insurances. It has paid 90% to the Dr.I also got my hosp bill and they paid all but 600.00 of the 29,000 bill.

I started the process in Sept,08 and my actual surgery date was 11-04-08. My consult with the Doctor was the very first thing that I completed. I went to the dietary and the Psych consult. I then completed all the labs after the approval. The process went very fast for me. My Dr wrote his letter and I called the insurance the day that he faxed it. I had approval within the next two days. congratulations on your choice for WLS you will not regret the decision.:hurray:

I am with you guys. I got on the rollercoaster and I need to get off before it gets the best of me. I have gained about three lbs and I'm not happy about that. I have failed at every diet I have tried in the past.That is why I do not look at this as a diet but a lifelong commitment to change.

I was banded 11-04-08 and have had only one fill 1.5cc in a 10cc band. I feel very little restriction at this point and I must confess that I feel hungrier at times. I did eat a little more than I should have i am sure over Christmas. I am not going to kick myself for this I am going to get right back on track. I know that even though the weightloss has slowed down for now I am on the right road to weight loss.I am needing to start exercising more and I know this will help a lot.

Thank you. I am doing excellent. The only real restrictions that I have is to avoid lifting greater than 10lbs and no stooping or bending. He said, that if I felt like it, I could return to work today. I am still sore across the top of abdomen other than that I am fine. I will drive for the first time today. It is amazing that I am not hungry. I cannot believe how this feels.

Hello Everyone! I am officially banded as of Nov 4th. Oh my, where do I even begin to start? As of one week pre-op diet and post banding I have lost 17.5 lbs. I never dreamed that anything could feel this great so quick. Everything went well with surgery. I spent one night in the hospital and home by 4:00pm the next day. Absolutely no hunger at all! I couldn't believe it. I am a little sore, but moving great. I have had no gas from the surgery like some have talked about.The only problem is the soreness across the top of my stomach. I do have seven small incisions the largest approx 1.5 to 2 in. Good luck everyone on your upcoming dates! It is worth it. There is no explaination of the way that you will feel.

My name is Tammy and I've been married to a good man for 29 yrs. He is a military officer/writer/rancher/ordained minister. We have four children 28,25,24,13 and we are grandparents to five little boys! What fun when they are all here. I too have been overweight for most of my life. I had a hard time growing up and being the one everyone picked on about weight. I am anxious to have a new life in the world of the slender people. I am looking forward to getting healthier and taking back control of my life instead of food controlling me.
