  1. My doctor won't do a fill until 6 weeks has passed. However I convinced them that I need one on Dec 1st given I am moving two weeks after that, so if there are any complications I would like to be close by. They reluctantly agreed. I am down 26lbs.
  2. They brought me an ounce of cream of chicken in the hospital. So I guess I am on Full Liquids for one more week, then the mushy stage for two weeks. I am guessing I will be able to have a little turkey and some potato. That's about it though. It sounds like I am eating more than everyone else.
  3. I haven't had any bowel problems but my doctor let's us eat "full liquids" that includes watered down oatmeal and very soft scrambled eggs. So I think the bulky food helps. I am down about 7.5lbs from what I weighed on my scale at home last Wednesday. I decided to take another day off work. We have election day off so I am going to go back on Wednesday. I am just not feeling myself yet and am really sore. I just think I need a little more time. I went to Target yesterday and got tired from that, so I don't want to push it.
  4. I haven't had any "port" pain. What kind of band did everyone gets? Maybe that makes a difference? I got the realize band. I am slowly starting to get hungry. I am also really shaky, probably from lack of food. I have been lucky to get 40-50 grams of protein a day. I am really struggling with the protein.
  5. Well, the gas pain has subsided somewhat today. Thursday and Friday I was cursing this band and asking myself what I got myself into. Last night I thought I was going to die the gas pain was so bad. It seems to have lessened over night. The dietitian had me fill out the ten reasons I wanted this surgery, in a self-addressed envelope. I guess they will mail it to me at some point. Now I know why. Being this uncomfortable all the time makes it easy to see how I may lose sight of why I did this to begin with.
  6. Thanks for the replies. What I don't get is why I would be at a sudden risk of protein deficiency i.e. losing my hair - when I never have lost my hair on a much smaller quantity of protein pre-surgery...I just am not big on protein drinks or meat.
  7. I don't understand the sudden necessity of protein post surgery. I honestly am not a huge protein eater and doubt I ever consumed more than 30 grams of protein a day prior to surgery. Now I am really struggling to get enough. What is up with protein?
  8. I am still not doing great myself. I am trying hard not to take any pain medication today because it just makes me sick to my stomach, but I am still in a lot of pain. I can eat small amounts but I had some oatmeal this morning that feels as if it is stuck in my throat. I am also not sleeping well because I am so uncomfortable. I am beginning to wonder if I will be able to go back to work on Monday. I still feel sick to my stomach, although without the pain meds that feeling is lessened a bit. I was not really prepared for being in this much pain.
  9. I have been reading about everyone using the protein bullet substitutes. However, we were told by the bariatric dietitian not to use them because they have collagen in them and that somehow does not make them appropriate protein supplements. I have not read about anyone else who was told not to take them, so I am trying to see if I am the only one. I don't want to take anything I am told is not good but they seem so easy...
  10. I don't have any regrets but I am really uncomfortable. The gas won't move and I am sore - the pain medication makes me really sick to my stomach. And a pill got stuck in my throat last night and then my cream of mushroom soup came up - I don't think I am ready to do more than drink water right now (I was able to swallow two ounces of cream of wheat this morning)
  11. Is anyone else home? I got discharged around 4pm. I don't feel well - I am pretty nauseated - but I think that is the pain meds. The gas is also pretty bad. I really have no desire to eat. I have had two ounces of chicken broth, a Popsicle, and water. Anyone else?
  12. They just called and moved my surgery to 10:30 am - I guess there was a cancellation. I was supposed to have my surgery at 12 noon. So now I have to be there at 8:30 instead of 10am. I am really nervous.
  13. Okay, I HATE Liquid diets. Just my vent for the day. Back to my green jello.
  14. My doctor gave me a very generic diet plan - so I wanted to see more specifics of what people eat. Liquid can mean a lot of things and that is basically what I have on my list. "Liquid protein shake." "Liquid Oatmeal." "Liquid Cream Soup."
  15. I have surgery wednesday (yay!). Anyway, I don't know what to buy at the grocery store. Can anyone write down a laundry list of the stuff they bought in preperation? My lap band workbook from the doctor is really general. I am on liquids for two weeks post op. So should I make a lot Protein shakes? I am just confused and not sure what to do. Thanks in advance!
