14 Days And Getting Sick Of Soup!
I just tried creamy tomato soup on the go. It was del. I am sure I will be sick of soup soon, but right now it is good. I have found that the jello sf pudding and jello are better in the ready made indiv. containers in the cold food area. I try to get yougert with 5 gms or less of sugar and that is hard to find. I found some fiber 1 strawberry that is only 50 cal. hope it is eatable. The sf popscycles are pretty good. Sf FF fudsycles are on my list but I have 2 bags of popscycles so I have not bought any yet. I guess at this time protein shakes are the only way to get the protein we need or added protein powder.

14 Days And Getting Sick Of Soup!
I had surgery on the 10th and am still on full liquids.days 3-14 full liquids, then days 15-30 will be pureed. So far as soup all I have tried so far is creamy chicken that I strain to remove all the little chunks. One 10 oz can makes me 3 meals or tries. So little fills me to the top and hey I think this sleeve might work as it hurts if it gets a little to much in it. I can just tell when that last sip is enough already. I can have yougert, sf pudding any protein shake with skim milk, any sf flavored waters, sf jello, sf popscyles, tomato or v8 juice, skim milk. Takes alot ot sipping to get in 48-64oz liquid and working to 45-60 gm of protein.Day 15 I start pureed foods. I am looking forward to real food, beans and eggs umm!!! Things I would not put on my plate a month ago.LOL What a difference this sleeve is making. So far I am down 10lbs and that is great for me. Hope you can have something besides full liquids soon. I think I would call the surgeon's office Monday morning if they did not give you a handout diet progression list. Good luck to you. I burp quite a bit too.

Heartburn Central
You need to contact your surgeon for that answer, but you probably need to be on something, I am having heartburn too. The surgeon told me it is because my esophagus it raw and that it will heal. He gave me Zefran as needed and I need it 2-3x a day.It is for nausea but it works for heartburn too. Preop I also took protonix daily. If the heartburn continues, I will ask if I can start taking it again.Good luck.

Medications Post-Op
Basically you have to ask your pcp or surgeon. Most of the time they say to crush them and don't usually tell you to mix them, but water or milk might be best. I crush mine and just put them in my mouth and swallow with water. They are going to be gross no matter what. You can get some in a liquid form. May have to check with the pharmacist which one and then get new rx from pcp. I was taken off some of mine right after surgery which is a big blessing. Good luck with your surgery.

Home...

Sleeved And Home
Oh DelongH, Hope that you are much better today, I teasingly told Hubby yesterday that I may have had major surgery after all. THat cracked him up. I knew that each sleeve experience is unique and some peeps have a better reaction than others. I just was not expecting mine to be so unpleasant. I am complaining to much because I am not having all that much pain now and am truly doing better today.I have the same amt of incisions that you do, plus I discovered a new one yesterday. I felt a pin prick like pain under my left breast, raised it up am there was a 1 1/2 in abrasion, like a burn. I havn't had any gas, knock on wood. I had terrible gas pain when I had a lapband. I have been able to drink my shakes and water today, also some cream soup and jello. So it is day by day getting better. I am not craving anything or wanting to eat. So that is good also I am so tickled that I was taken off all my diabetic meds and most of my b/p meds before leaving the hosp. I am so happy with just that. No weight loss yet, but I know it is coming. My discharge instructions included no lifting anything heavier than a milk jug, no bending over and picking anything off the floor for 4-6 weeks. So what is left except take it easy.

Ok, A Gross Question About Drain
That too is an individual thing. I did not have any drains, but I did have a local med delivered thru a cath device into my abd until I went home. It was to kill pain like when you have an injection to fill or pull a tooth.Suppose to lessen need for other stronger meds. I also had a pca pump with I guess Morphine. Can not believe that I did not ask what was in that pca pump. I was just relieved it was there.

Home...
Yes I am glad you are better. I can not imagine the ordeal with the pain meds. I thank God the pain meds did good for me. The pca pump was amazing. I did not have any vomiting or night terrors. It is a different experience for everyone. Hopefully your will be improving every day from now on.

Sleeved And Home
I had surgery tue am and was discharged thur afternoon, The hosp stay was fine, THe surgeon is great. I did and am having some pain, but I do have good pain meds. I feel like someone beat my belly.I keep hearing things get better daily, so I am looking forward to it. My cat just jumped from the headboard of my bed and landed with all 4 feet on my belly. OOOOWWeee. He loves me and wants to be in my lap.He is about to be banished from my b/r for the time being. I am having to practice small sips. That is hard for me. Just wanted to report in.

I Am Sleeved And Home. Wahoo !
I was sleeved on july 10th, I spent the first 2 nights in the hosp. I was hooked up to a fabulous pca pump for day 1 and half of day 2 and we were very good buds. Then they started givin me the ukk Lortabs elix. It works, but tastes bad, I got alot of good sleep on my comfy hosp bed. All the staff were great and took good care of me. I was able to get up and walk quite a bit, but Thank God I did not suffer from the notorious gas. I think they took it all out for me. I did and am still having some pain. Feels like someone beat the heck out of my abd. All in all it was not a great experience, but it is going to be better everyday and I am not sorry I did it at all. My surgeon is great and said the surgery went well. I am on full liq now for a couple weeks and am tolerating that pretty well. I haven't vomited any, but I have bad heartburn. Hopefully that will end soon. I have Zofran for that and it helps. The surgeon said it is from my esophagus being raw.The best part for me is I am off all my diabetic pills and some of my bp pills. As long as neither goes up I can stay off them for the first time in yrs. I am a happy camper right now. Just wanted to report. I was at Park Plaza in Houston and Dr. Sherman Yu was the surgeon. I would recommend them both. Right now I am up and down without any problems, just mostly taking it easy for a few days. No weight loss yet, but I think that is pretty average.

I Would Like To Make A Suggestion
Sounds like a real winner Johnathan. It would be nice to just converse with someone when they are on here and not have to go back later and read their comments or ask a question about a post they made. Thanks hopefully someone who can initiate it will read your post.

How Soon Did You Try Guacamole, Salsa, Hot Cheetos, Doritos? Sorry I Just Had Surgery On Tuesday And Omg :o Im Addicted To All Of That.
Italian lady, Give us some idea of what you ate/drank when on liquids to get your protein in without drinking protein shakes. Thanks. I don't mind them, but they are not agreeing with me and are causing diarrhea. You have done so well with your weight loss. Congrats.

What You Really Need Pre-Op Surgery And Must Have Post Op
Thanks, I was debating on bringing my electric heating pad. Now, not only will I bring it, but I will buy another one tomorrow. I do love heat and think it will be a comfort. I don't know about the massager. I will look at what they have at the pharmacy. My surgery is scheduled for next Tue.

Good Protein Powder To Add In Coffee?
Thanks to PEvette, for the bariatricpantry.com. They have all kinds of protein coffee drinks. I love coffee and ordered a sampler , Lattes, Cappachinos, Mocha, etc. Pardon the spelling mistakes. They have alot of different sample packs and deliver very quickly. I haven't tried them yet, but plan to. Most are low sugar, low carb. Variety is the spice of life.

Unjury Strawberry Sorbet

Failure
I haven't been sleeved yet, but I am wondering if I will have the same problem. This is day 7 of preop liquid diet of shakes, water , crystal lite type drinks ,broth and I have lost 3 lbs. I wonder if when I get some real food if I will start gaining. I have only been drinking 2-3 half strength shakes a day because they give me diarrhea. I hope you start losing soon, I know it is discouraging, but hang in there.

Revision From Band To Sleeve With Cigna Insurance
Cigna did approve me fast, but it has been a long process. The fluid was removed from my band in Dec of last yr. and the surgeon I used before decided to move out of state so I had to get another one. It has been one thing after another, but none due to Cigna. I have gained 20 lbs, Love to eat. My surgery is July 10th. I have a wonderful surgeon so hopefully it will be a great success. You should follow up with the advocate and I would call the ins. co. just to make sure they did get the paperwork. If I have learn one thing it is that followup is key. Again Good luck getting your surgery approved.

Revision From Band To Sleeve With Cigna Insurance
I have Cigna and have been approved. I think all you have to have is medical necessity. I did not have to do the psyche eval or much else. My band had slipped and I have gastritis and esophagitis. Pain etc. Wt gain due to fluid removed from band. It took longer to get the Dr. office to send the info to the ins. co than it did for Cigna approval. So far Cigna rocks. I called to see if they had my paper work and I was told they review the request within a day or 2. Revision is totally different from a new surgery because you had to have all that stuff for a lapband and there is really no need to do it all again. Waste of everyone's time and money. Good luck to you. Hopefully you can get approved right away.
