Medications Post-Op

How do you take your pre-op medicine post-op? Do you crush them and mix in water? What about the extended release capsules or tablets?

Basically you have to ask your pcp or surgeon. Most of the time they say to crush them and don't usually tell you to mix them, but water or milk might be best. I crush mine and just put them in my mouth and swallow with water. They are going to be gross no matter what. You can get some in a liquid form. May have to check with the pharmacist which one and then get new rx from pcp. I was taken off some of mine right after surgery which is a big blessing. Good luck with your surgery.

I took my pills with me to pre op appointment with surgeon and had him tell me if any were a concern. All of mine I was able to take post op without altering them. I left the hospital off my blood pressure meds and my blood pressure is great. Good luck
