  1. I was a selfpay. I didn't have any problems with my surgery. Everything has been going great and I have no regrets except that I wish I would have done it sooner. I am 14 mts post op and as of a month ago I am down 130 pds. (I don't weigh at home). I am off all 3 of my blood pressure meds now and feel great. How much is your surgery going to cost you? Mine cost 10,000.00 But to me, my health and my family were the most important thing. If I wouldn't have had the surgery I may not have been here later on to spend that money on things with my family. I know my doctors office could have financed it if I wanted to. You may want to look into that, instead of putting out all the money at once. Good Luck to you.
  2. Hi Neener, I was banded Aug. 27, 2008, so I just made 14 mts. As of last month I had lost 130 pounds. I feel great and I'm off most of my meds. The only thing is in the last month my thryoid has gone out of wack and is now over active( found this out after having horrible hives for 5 weeks) I never had a thryoid problem before. Weird thing is I have no symptoms of over active. Other than that I have not had any problems and don't regret it at all. Only wished I would have done it sooner. I am 32 (almost 33 in Dec) married and I have two daughters 14, and 8 from Louisiana. Good luck on your upcoming banding. If I can be of any halp let me know.
  3. I am 14 mts post op and I have tried several times with no luck at all with chicken. And I can not eat bread at all.
  4. Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if anyone else has developed an over active thyroid after surgery? I am 13 months post op and have lost 130 pounds. Over the last 3 1/2 weeks I have been having hives really bad all over. The dermatologist did bloodwork and showed my thyroid is over active. I went to the endocarnologist (spelling?) and he said it is extremely over active and that I would have to start taking medicine to regulate. (only temporary) I had to have more bloodwork and on Nov. 2 i am going for a iodine uptake test. I ve heard the medicine makes it slow down and people usually gain weight. I am scared to death, I don't want to gain any weight back. I've come too far. Anyone have any advice? August All Star 2008
  5. Congrats Moemoe455 on getting banded tommorrow. Dr Belott is a wonderful doctor, very thorough and honest. Karen is also very helpful and she's easy to talk to. He did my surgery a year ago today also at West Jefferson. As of my weigh in 2 weeks ago I was down 112 pds. and have no regrets. I still have about 130 more to go. Good Luck tommorrow.
  6. Happy Anniversary to all of you. I know the month's almost over but today is my Band Anniversary. I can't believe its been a year already, buts its been a good year and I haven't had many of those lately. My main one year goal was to be down 100 pounds and I made it. As of my weigh in two weeks ago I was down 112. I have had many different little goals met like going from a 4x/5x in shirts to a 2x, shoes from a 10w to an 8 regular, being able to walk down stairs with out stopping every few minutes to breathe, lots of more energy, and regaining some of my self confidence back. But the most touching thing was this past Sunday while at church, my 8 yr old but her arms around me to give me a big hug. She said look mommie my arms can go all the way around you now when I hug you. All i could do was smile. :w00t: Congratulations to everyone with their losses. And to those of you have met your goal way to go. :blushing:
  7. Hi Nursee, Congratulations on getting your approval. I had my lapband surgery in Aug. 2008 (almost a year :cool2:) by Dr. Todd Belott. He is with the Surgical Clinic of Louisiana at West Jefferson Hospital. Where in Louisiana are you? I highly reccommend him if you are in the New Orleans area. He has truly been wonderful during the whole process. If you have any question i'll be glad to give you some info. Good Luck
  8. I want to go to Hawaii when I get to my goal. I want to be able to go out on the beach and not be ashamed of the way i look. But this will be after my tummy tuck. Good luck to everyone!!!!!
  9. Congratulations on your hundred pounds loss!! I can't wait to hit the hundred pound mark. I'm only eight pounds away. I too am enjoying living my life again and not being tired all the time. Keep up the good work.
  10. I was banded Aug. 27, 08, I was out a week, 2nd week I only worked 3-4 hrs a day ( incisions were rubbing my desk and hurt to sit for prolonged period of time). 3rd week I was back full time but had to get up a move from time to time. Congrats on getting banded. If you can take the time off I wouldn't rush back. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. Heather
  11. I only go by my surgeons scale because the scale at the gym says one thing the scale at my primary says another. I know the surgeons scale is more accurate and it gives me something to look forward to. Everyone is different though, i just can't handle any more stress and a scale at home would be very stressful to me. Good Luck! Heather Banded Aug. 27, 2008 77 lbs lost
  12. Hi August Bandsters! Today is my 6 month bandiversary. I am proud to say that I have lost 73 pounds and my BMI has gone from a 70 to to 57. I have gone down 3 sizes in shirts and pants, I have so much more energy and starting to regain some of my self confidence back. I am looking forward to the next six months. This was the best thing that I ever did! My band and I have become best friends!! Congrats to everyone with their loses. August All Stars!!!!!
  13. I have not flown since being banded but I did ask my surgeon about it. He told me that you don't need to get it unfilled when you fly unless your are going on extremely long flight (8 hrs or more). He also said depending on how you feel after a flight (long or short ) you may want to eat liquids or mushies for a few hours. Banded Aug. 27 , 2008
  14. Hi Gilta, Well I'm not going to make my 20 pound goal, but thats okay I lost 8 pounds. Any loss is better than none. I got a fill yesterday so I'm on liquids for the next two so maybe I'll lose 2 or 3 more. My margarita's this past weekend didn't help me. Mardi Gras starts this weekend so I'm going to try my best and behave (hopefully this fill works very well). Hope everything is okay with your family! ** Happy Valentines Day ** ***Happy Mardi Gras***
  15. Hi Everyone Sorry I am late posting my weigh in but my daughter has been sick. I am down 2 1/2 pounds. Hope everyone has a great week.
  16. Hi Amy, Just checking in to see how you are doing this week? Hope your are feeling better. Take Care
  17. Hi Gilta, I forgot to post mine last week (sorry). I lost 5 1/2 pounds. I don't get weighed again until Monday, nurse it out for week. So i'll send it to you then.. Thanks
  18. I buy mine from Catherines and have no problems with them. But I can say that I look forward to the day when I don't have to go to specials stores to a bra and when I can start wearing some of the cute/sexy ones that I have never been able to wear.
  19. I don't know about the flu but I had the stomach virus and from the vomiting it irritated my band and caused some swelling. I didn't know it at the time and I ate a piece of ham and didn't chew to well and it got lodged in my band. (extremely scary). I took 2 1/2 hrs before it finely losened up and passed. That caused more swelling and had to go to doctor to have some fill removed for a few days. My advice is if you get the stomach flu, just do liquids or soft mushy foods for a few days to aloow any swelling to go down. Banded Aug. 27, 2008
  20. I didn't know I had one until 4 weeks after surgery. Doc repaired it while doing band. He said if he hadn't repaired the band would not have worked properly. Good Luck to you! Banded August 27, 2008
  21. Hi Everyone! Just got back from the doctors and i'm down 5.5 pounds since my fill 11 days ago. :scared2: I can really tell the difference with this fill. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!!!!
  22. Hi Amy, Sorry to hear things haven't been going so well but sounds like things are starting to improve some. Try and stay positive and take each day one at a time. (i know its hard and can be really frustrating) I started exercising this month and instead of losing I gained four pounds. I made them weigh me twice and cried all the way home. Look at it this way that's 20 pounds that is gone for good. We didn't gain it over night so its night going to come off over night. I hope you start feeling better soon. Hope I helped some! Banded Aug. 27, 2008 Dr. Belott
  23. To me that sounds like too much at one time. I don't see how you could eat or drink anything. I was banded in Aug. 08, with a 10 cc band. As of Jan 12th I had my fourth fill and I am now only a little over 3 cc's. My doctor only puts .5cc's or less each fill. How was your restriction after surgery? How are you feeling after the fill yesterday?
  24. Hi Everyone. I went for weigh in yesterday and i'm up 4 lbs. Very discouraged and confused this morning. I finally get up and go to the gym and start working out (last six days) and I gain weight. Anyone else had this problem? Doc said not to get discouraged that I more than likely built up muscle and lost in inches since I feel like I've lost. Any advice?
  25. You shouldn't have any problems with it unless its a big pill. My doctor had me crush all pills no matter the size for the first two weeks just to be safe. I haven't had any problems. Good Luck to you!
