  1. Happy Birthday Jewels68!

  2. Amylynns~ My daughter had her band taken out last year after a lot of trouble with it. At one point I was down 100 pounds. I gained 10-15 back and have gone back and forth. I asked my insurance if they would cover the sleeve and got the approval in two days. I had my band taken out two weeks ago and I'm having the sleeve done Nov 14th. I did great with the band don't get me wrong, I just would never get all the weight off I wanted. The sleeve is a tool just like the band. It will be nice to be full on normal food and not worry about meat or something getting stuck when out in public. Good luck to you.
  3. Happy 44th Birthday Jewels68!

  4. 3 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 3rd Anniversary Jewels68!

  5. I love my band. So far I haven't had any problems. I have now since joined a gym to help get off the last 20 pounds. I too can eat whatever and not gain much weight. One or two days of being good and I lose it. I hope everyone else is doing well.
  6. Sounds like the stiches may have come un done at the port/muscle. I heard the fills can hurt as well. Our doctors use one needle to hold it still and use another to do the fill. Do the do it under fluoro? The great thing about complete unfills, as it fixes most problems. Yes, weight gain can happen as you are wide open. I have seen some patients gain as much as 20 pounds in two weeks. So just be careful. I feel so thankful to have gotten a job at my doctors office. it's been a very positive place to work and everyone's so nice. I love watching patients come in for their first consults, pre-op appt's, going for surgery, post op's and then the journey to lose weight. The stress at my old job was killing me... Well I hope you feel better soon and they start filling you up when your ready. Do they give free fills to get you back or close to where you were?
  7. I would ask them how much the they charge to have your port moved? My daughter just had her port moved on Thursday because port was pinching on her ribs. They moved it below the middle of her breasts. Did you have a slip? Is that why all the fluid was taken out.
  8. Thank you. Back on the wagon now. I have a 5K run in two weeks. Not sure I'll be able to run all of it. But I think most of it. Hope things are going well for you.
  9. So sorry to her about the death of your nephew. I've been at a stand still for three months. I hit 173 and lost 100 pounds. But can't get more off. I need to put down the Easter candy. lol
  10. Three fills is nothing... I've had around 20 since Nov. 08. As you lose weight, you lose fat around your stomach too.
  11. Never in a million years. Thats why my doctor got paid the big bucks and their nurses went to training. I now work for my doctor and I have seen the results of patients doing their own fills. Too tight ~ part of their stomach's had to be cut out because it had died from the band being to tight.
  12. If your band is stretched, go in for a fluoro and have them check. At my office they would take all the fluid out for a few weeks and hope that it goes back to normal. Not a big deal... keep your chin up... And good luck.
  13. Sabrina~ I'm starting to run too. I stil can't run a mile but I'm walking fast. 4 miles per hour or around there. I signed up for a 5k run with my husband in May. I used to die after walking 1/2 a mile. Now I don't go to bed until I have walked/jogged or ran 5 miles a day. the weight is finally dropping again. 23 more pounds till I hit my doctors goal for me. 40 plus pounds for my personal goal. DD~ I must have missed your post on the revision. What did you have redone?
  14. You might want a slight unfill with the stress and flying. Not a great combo. I was hired by my band doctor and they say a little out helps. Sory to hear what your going through. Keep your chin up and we're thinking about you.

    Skinny chicks....

I so would have had a hard time not saying something back. I used to sit back and not say a word. My weightloss has given me back my self-esteem and then some. I too was 5'2" and 273. I started gaining weight when I was about 21 or 22 and it didn't stop until I got my band.
