Hi I am from Lakes Entrance, Vic and was banded last July at Latrobe Hospital. I have been having ongoing problems with diaphragm irritation pain even after revision surgery to move the tubing out from under my diaphragm. Has anybody else had this problem or heard of anyone who has. I am desperate for answers as even my surgeon has no idea what it causing it and I really dont want to have to have the band taken out!!!

Pressure from lap-band tubing on diaphragm

Hey, glad they found a solution for your problem! :thumbup:I am seeing my surgeon tomorrow to decide whether bandy should come out or if there is another solution. I am kinda wondering if relocating the port might help as the pain is up around that area. Anyone else had this done?

Pressure from lap-band tubing on diaphragm

Thanks so much for your reply, I hadnt seen it until today! I am still having the same problems. My doctor says I really dont have any choice and must have the band removed. Even though I think he may be right I am really sad that it hasnt worked out the way I thought it would and I am terrified of having more surgery and the possibility of gaining weight back. I can't win!

    Shoulder Pain

I have experienced exactly the same thing when I have had fills:crying:
  7. Wow! I too am in Australia (Victoria) and have had EXACTLY the same problem. Even surgery to reposition the tubing away from the diaphragm didnt help. Info is very difficult to find and my surgeon just keeps saying he has never heard of this problem nor have any of his colleagues! I am on daily oxycontin AND Endone for the pain, its really had a crippling effect on my life but the thought of having the band removed is one I cant deal with right now, especially when I have heard of people with the same problem that have had their band removed only to keep experiencing the same pain!

PLEASE HELP!! pain at band area

Hi, I am from Australia and I have had the same problem and am 5 months banded. I had the tubing repositioned as a cat scan showed it was rubbing up under the diaphragm but it had little effect. The pain is unbearable at times but is relieved if I pass wind and/or lie on my left side. My surgeon says he has never heard of it happening before but I see on these boards and other support sites that there are people out there with the same problem. I am on daily Endone and Oxycontin for the pain and I must admit it has been a little better lately but I cannot wear anything restricting around my waist. Sometimes the pain is just under the rib and sometimes it shoots up into the neck/shoulder area as well. Its very frustrating and I feel like I am getting handballed from doctor to doctor! My surgeon suggested removing the band but I have heard other people say this did not fix the problem for them and I would hate to have to go through surgery AGAIN only to still have the pain! Please email me on trixiebelle08@yahoo.com anytime if you want to chat. Hang in there! Tania

Pressure from lap-band tubing on diaphragm

Oh my, I have been searching the net for months trying to find someone with a similar problem to mine!!! I too had the same problem and had surgery to have my tubing shortened. The tubing seems to have weaseled its way back where it was cos I am still in pain everyday and have to take endone (vicodin?) everyday. My surgeon keeps saying he doesnt know whats causing it and my gp thinks I am turning in a junkie needing the pain meds. ITS SO FRUSTRATING!!! I would love to hear more about your story. tania - australia

Left Shoulder Pain After Lap Band Surgery

Hmm, thats interesting cos I was wondering that myself about constipation being a factor in this left shoulder pain nightmare! I noticed when I get the pain spasms I also tend to burp or fart a lot. I am having surgery this Thurs to relocate the tubing and see if that makes a difference, I hope so because I cant live like this forever, its awful. Despite my bad news I have still lost 10kg now and am so happy about that :crying:

Left Shoulder Pain After Lap Band Surgery

Hi all, I am in Australia and have been banded for 3 months. I still have ongoing shoulder tip pain. Surgeon has no answers, said he's never seen anything like it?? Cat scan revealed tubing is definitely rubbing against diaphragm. Is there nothing they can do?! I am sick of living on Endone (i think its called vicodin in the States) and having to restrict my lifestyle because of pain. Despite this problem I LOVE my band and still think its the best thing I have ever done. Can anyone shed some insight into my problem?
