  5. HI TammyTX,

I am also a Tammie from Texas and a September Samurai. I grew up near Beaumont, TX, but now live in Holland.

I hope you are getting around a bit and feeling better after the surgery. I was banded on Sept 10th. Feeling good, but hit a plateau. I am ok, asked the doc who said my body was fighting me because it is not so used to the new food pattern and what just happened to me.

Take care and I'll check back and see how you are doing later.

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Surgery date: Sept 10, 2008 Where: Brugge, Belgium Who: Dr. Dillemans From this site, looks like Belgium is doing a cracking business on foreign lapband patients. I am a Texan living in Holland and had my surgery in Brugge. I lost 8 pounds before surgery. Now, 8 pounds directly after, but have bottomed out this week. Comforted to read posts that say "this is a time for healing, not a time for losing," but I still want to be ON MY WAY DOWN. Will drink more water and get on the exercise bike which has been sitting in the living room for 5 years. It's hard not to compare yourself to the rest of the September Samurais. It's good to see all the varying paces of the weight loss. Something for everyone.
  7. Bikini Beachy, Not alone with the family/in laws. My brother-in-law decided to announce this for me at a birthday party. "The next time you see Tammie, she'll be much smaller." This lead to really strange and rude questions from people who don't know me. Like "Are you sure you tried everything? You have a an addiction, are you sure this is going to work for an addiction? You do have a nice face, too bad about your body." I live in Holland so some of the comments were just retarded, though we can try to blame cultural difference. Like you, I just cannot appreciate comments or advice about eating or drinking tea without sugar. I have told my boss and some close colleagues. I have just warned them not to dramatize it. I prefer to melt. This is my first message. I joined two days ago and I am bombarded with info. Hang in there with the family. Patience. Surgery date: Sept 10, 2008 Start weight: 289
