    December Surgery Buddies!

Hey all, Thought I'd check in. Had my sleeve and hiatal hernia repair done on 12/13. Most of it has gone pretty smooth with no nausea and little pain aside from one spot. This one spot is about two inches to the right of the right side incision and its deep. Like when they did the incision they did it at an angle and it has done nothing but burned and stung horribly from the beginning. It was the only thing that held me back from getting up and walking more during my overnight stay. Even once I got home it still took me way to long to get moving. The hysterectomy pillow I got has helped but the ab binder had been a life saver. It still burns and pulls and stings, but I am actually finally able to walk two houses down and half the block width now instead of just barely able to run laps in the house. I think its honestly the stitch they put in that incision. ugh. But bearing through it. As far as food, Full liquid until my follow up next Thursday and then I should be able to move to pureed at that point. Had a slight sensation in the base of my throat the first 3 days or so but after that haven't had any issues drinking 20 oz for lunch and breakfast and dinner and another 17 oz through out the day. Getting in almost 90g of protein and hitting my 70 oz of water/fluid intake in. Oh also went from 309.4 morning of surgery to 322.8 after. I finally was back to 310 this morning! Hope everyone else is doing well!

Yeah, if I could I would have or had some complex carbs but its a pretty strict pre-op (no oils, butter, fruit, sauces, milk, sugar or fatty meats). Two shakes (breakfast and lunch) and then 5 oz lean meat (usually chicken or white fish) and 1 of five green veggies. They call it the liver shrinking diet. It says 800 cal but I'm barely scraping in at 550 cal a day. With the cucumber and 3 oz of sugar free jello I think I hit like 600 cal. I would get hypoglycemic when I was younger and its bad. I cry at the drop of a hat at everything but especially when overwhelmed and I get super shaky. Thankfully my dietician ok'd the snack to add and I actually feel a bit better this morning, physically and mentally.

    December Surgery Buddies!

Just had my pre-surgery assessment yesterday and my surgeon was great answering my questions and helping me with the pre-op. I was starting to get hypoglycemic in the evenings bad so he had the dietician give me some ideas to add to my pre-op. So now about 2 hr after dinner I eat a medium cucumber with a light smear of fat free cream cheese to help keep my levels even. I feel better this morning than I have in the last two weeks. Surgery next Wednesday 12/13 and on to a new life. So happy my hubby can stay at the hospital with me as well overnight. I wish all December surgerys good luck!!!

Yay! Same day for my sleeve. Started my pre-op on Nov 22nd. I'm doing my best with my 2 shakes a day but their brand is wearing on me bad. I had to start adding a few drops of water flavoring to them to get them down lol. and Then getting mighty tired of bland chicken and 1 of 5 green veggies a night :(. Had my education class and my per-surgery assessment is on Tuesday and the Wed after its surgery! My surgeons office throws us into keto on the preop and its throwing off my walking bad. But I just keep the thought that I won't have to fight my body any longer.

Not in the least. I'm trying not to buy much at all lol. I have a box of smaller clothes when I lost over 100 lbs about 10 years ago (like size 13, 15, 19 juniors). I've bought a few pairs of my fav underwear in one size down from where I am now as the 3 pair I bought originally are already to large (guess thats a good thing). Other than that the only other things I've bought have been two pair of cute boots in a smaller size (where I was when I lost all my weight last time) and a workout set to aspire to. I figure the thrift shops will be my go to in between.

Well, looks like December 13th for me. Insurance is dragging their feet . But it does give me more time to prepare and get all the things I need ordered.

    compression stockings

I know this was a bit ago but Crazy compression has sales constantly on theirs and have wide calf sizing and then pro compression, for me these were a bit snug. There is also Wellow as well for compression but they were too long and cut into the back of my knees. I use them daily for my leg I broke my ankle on.

Congrats! Mine might be the same day if insurance and hematology don't clear me by Friday for the tentative date of December 4th.

Check out Zenni. I got a pair a couple years ago far cheaper than at the eye office. And you can upload your pic (you could probably find a free progression program) to see what frames would look good or use their base faces.

I certainly will. I know the vitamins they have me start 1 mo post op but will check on the calcium chews for sure. And I agree on the Protein bars! So convient and the Built Bar Puffs are my fav! lol oh well. I can manage for a few months as I feel I will certainly be struggling to hit my other goals for a bit.

So happy you don't have an excuse now . Yeah hydration I think will be the hardest for me as well but I'm trying to be prepared and make sure I try things prior. Have some Unjury coming as well. Decided I'd try their beef broth and root beer flavors. Nice thing with the samples is if you don't like it then you don't waste much . I'll check out Celebrate as well. Haven't figured out what calcium chews yet but my understanding is nothing chewy for at least 6 mo which also means no protein bars to fill in for a bit. I tried the Bariatric Fusion chicken soup from my doctors office. Kinda like ramnen noodle flavor broth. Figure it won't hurt to offset all the sweet with something kinda savory. I got Vanilla (so I can mix things with it), Orange cream and salted caramel.
  13. My doctors office uses the Bariatric Fusion and says others aren't as good. Another case of Dr by Dr opinion. I started using mine prior to surgery since my primary said I was a tad low (still recovering from severe iron definciency anemia and all my numbers have climbed and every is almost normal again). For me so far prior to surgery the Bariatric Fusion capsules haven't caused me an issue and they come with or without 45mg Iron. We will see if I need to keep taking them after a year but it won't hurt is my thought.

    It was the iron....

Also try taking any iron about 20 mins before you lay down to sleep. I had to do that for a bit until my body adjusted to it but they had me on a pretty high dose of 65 mg of Iron with 500 mg of Vit c.
