  4. Hey Mrs.Green. Where are you at in this process right now?

  5. I only lost a little over 30 lbs so far. It's been slow but successful. I just had my 3rd fill the beginning of August and I see a jump on the weightloss. I have 6cc in my band right now. I go back mid september and hope to get another fill. I'm going to bust tail to lose at least 50 lbs before my anniversary date. But I'm extremely happy with the decision and I feel absolutely great!

  6. The summer is here and it's time to get this band to work for me! Down almost 30 lbs, this summer I plan to utilize the long days and cool nights to get as active as I can and as much exercise as I can.

Just 2 incisions for the procedure

My Doctor did this procedure where he did one larger incision at the top of my stomach and one small incision on the bottom. My port is in the same place as everyone else's. When I woke up I felt good and when I looked at my stomach I got disappointed because I didnt think he had done the surgery. Then I was told I was fine, he used a new technique and I responded so well I could go home shortly. Lucky, I know!!!!!!
  8. This is going to be a remarkable journey you are embarking on. I'm excited and I hope we can be support and inspiration for each other. Good Luck!

  9. Hi Courtney, I was banded in Dec as well. To date I have lost a little over 20 lbs. I desperately need a buddy. I tried an exercise buddy but our schedules conflicted. My weightloss is slow which is what I wanted, but I've dropped about 2 sizes so people can see the progress. The fills work at first then in 2 weeks the restriction is gone. I'd like to find a buddy to keep me coming back to the site to check in regularly and someone to keep me motivated about exercise. The summer is close and for my b-day I'd like to be in a size 16. I'm currently in an 18 so I'm close. I figure 15 lbs should get me there. So anyone, everyone, please reply!!!!

    Any regrets?

I have been banded a little over a month. I must admit the weight loss for me is slow even following the pre and post op diet, but I have no regrets. The pain for me lasted about 2 days and was tolerable with the pain meds. The food does get stuck if you dont take small bites and chew thoroughly. That feeling last a few short minutes. Dont drink fluids or it will come right up. Stick with it, it is well worth the pain. I have learned the band only adds assistance to weight loss and the key is what you eat and exercise. Good luck. Be patient, and be strong. There are more success stories with lap band than there are disaster stories. Remain optimistic and you'll be fine.
  11. My Dr is working on a new procedure where he only makes 2 incisions. One is larger than the other(about 2 in) but it looks much nicer healed then the 5 holes they typically do.

    Any December '08 Bandsters?

I got home from surgery about 2:30 pm. My nurse too said I was the best and fastest recovering patient. I woke up with no pain just a sore throat from the breathing tube. I almost didn't think I had surgery because the doctor only made two holes not five. I was like, are u sure I had surgery. All in all, this morning I woke up with a little pain/soreness. Went to the gym and walked the treadmil slowly and rode the bike carefully. I'm determined to work with my band for the rest of my life.

    Any December '08 Bandsters?

Tomorrow is my day too. I am so excited for the surgery and just a little nervous about the outcome. This will be the best christmas ever for me. This surgery marks the first step to a fresh new year. Good luck to all those being banded and please lets be active in replies about our progress. I know if I hit a slump I can come to this site and find comfort.
  14. Thanks. You guys are probably right that the liver shrinking is the most important. Guess I'm just gettting anxious. Thanks for the support.
  15. Hello Everyone, I am 10 days in the pre op diet Optifast 800. I've been following this diet closely and have only lost about 3 lbs. I weigh myself every morning when I wake up and every night. When I wake up I'm always lighter so I'm optimistic about the diet for the day, but when I go to bed I'm always back to my original weight if not a pound heavier. I am discouraged because all I have had all day was the liquids. Some days I have even gone to the gym and exercised. What I realized is that my cycle is coming and I may be retaining water weight. Any suggestions about what to do about the water weight. My family and friends say the amount of weight you lose prior to surgery is irrelavant because its the shrinking of the liver that matters most. Please help, I want to have this surgery worry free and optimistic about the outcome.
