  1. I am doing well with the band--nearly 70 lbs gone and it will be 6 months on July 19. That makes me happy, but I am very distraught because I am battling my insurance company on issues pertaining to my lapband surgery. It would not be wise to talk about it in a public forum, but suffice to say it is an unholy, ugly mess. It has made me unhappy, stressed, and frightened about what the future will hold on so many levels. I also am not exercising as much as I should. It is my personal bete noir.
  2. Barbara, I am so glad the surgery went well and you are on the road to recovery. Isn't the staff at St.Agnes great? I felt very well taken care of and I am sure you did too. You might want to try the GasX and see if it helps. I felt relief when I took it.
  3. That's great Leona! I am so glad your Mom did so well with the surgery. Yep, I was in pain too that first day, but they gave me good drugs that I could get with the push of a button,
  4. I would love to--I live in Baltimore, but I am frequently in the D.C. area going to the theater. I am a theater critic and writer.
  5. I cannot make it the 25th--I am in the theater at 2 and 7--but I am extremely interested in the face-to-face meetings and the support group. It makes such a difference!
  6. Yes, I am planning to be at the support group meeting on Wednesday. See you there!
  7. That's wonderful news! Are you the opera singer I met at the St. Agnes support group? You are going to do splendidly. I am down 65 pounds in five months, so I am pleased. I could exercise more, and am working on that. I had my surgery at St. Agnes with Dr. Averbach (the other doctor in Dr. Singh's practice) and I received excellent care at the hospital and in the office. My surgeon didn't require a bowel prep, which is usually what they require for bypass patients, but I heard it does lessen the gas problem. Good luck to both you and your mom!
  8. See you tonight! I have to leave before 7 because I have theater at 8:30. What time is the get-together on the 30th? I may have theater at 3 that day. Oy.
  9. Yes, Barbara I'll be at the St. Agnes support group on Wednesday. I am the 6 foot tall redhead--hard to miss! I am going to try to be at the April 30 face-to-face, if I don't have theater that day.
  10. Barbara, are you the woman who is going to be banded at St. Agnes? That's where I had my surgery 1/19/06--my surgeon was Dr. Averbach and I believe you are with Dr. Singh--they are in the same practice. Everyone at St. Agnes was so lovely, I got excellent care. And I understand Dr. Singh is fabulous.
  11. I am new to the group (banded 1/19/06) and I would like to attend. Let me know all the info. Jayne 394/350/200 Dr. Averbach
