  1. I lost 8lbs the first week but after I started eating regular food again I quicky gained it all back. I just had my second fill because the first fill 2 weeks prior left me with absolutely NO restriction. I got my second fill on Wed and I am hoping to finally have a weight loss after this surgery.
  2. I understand and can identify with how you feel. I also paid out of my own pocket for my surgery. It has been 3 months and I actually weight 2lbs more than before surgery. The depression of the band not working has enabled me to eat more and more. I got my first fill thinking I would finally have help in this journey and that the band as a tool would work and NOTHING! I got absolutely no restriction. After demanding it..I got a fill again two weeks later which was yesterday..I felt restriction for the first tim ever. Today I don't feel nearly as restricted as yesterday and I am hoping for the best and that the restriction hasnt already past. Is that crazy or what? I know that sometime the band doesnt work for everyone and I just hope that I am not one of those ppl. Please don't give up. Even if you have to fight on your own. That is what I have had to decide to do, with our without help of the band, I must lose this weight..You can do it. Don't stop posting. There are ppl here to help you.
  3. I was so disappointed after surgery and my first fill which was 4cc's in a AP standard band and I had absolutely NO restriction. I called and went back two weeks later, yesterday...and now I know what it feels like to have restriction. Talk to your doctor about what is going on and see if its safe to be more aggressive with your fills. Some ppl need alot more in their band than others and the size of their stomach sometimes makes a difference too. Good luck
  4. Not all doctors routinely do an xray or a barium s x-ray, so I would not worry. I did not have one either. If they feel there is a problem they may do one but I am sure everything went fine.
  5. WOW! I don't call that pigging out! I think you did well and you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. I wish that is all I ate when I pig out..LOL! Keep up the good work

  7. According to my doctor as long as you are eating properly you don't really need to even take vitamins. Of course, everyone needs to listen to their own physician and it depends on your age, weight and diet but so far i am feeling great without and my tests are perfect.
  8. Hi there! I am totally jealous of you. I know that sounds awful since you are suffering. What I am saying is" I wish i had some restriction"! I was hoping that I had more help post op from the surgery. I understand after the fill I will have some restriction but right now , I have none. I am only losing because of self control and its been really hard. I am only on my third week but I am pretty sure I can eat almost anything. Other ppl have had a hard time with breads and things even before a fill and I am almost positive that I can eat everything. The only thing stopping me is sheer fear that I could damage the band and cause a problem. If you are uncomfortable talk to your doctor and be strong and express your concern. Good luck. Keep up the great weight loss.
  9. Hey there. I got banded Aug 26th, just a couple weeks ago. I am also very hungry at night. I am trying to decide whether its actual hunger or head hunger. Either way, its hard to keep on track. I know I am not eating even a 1000 calories a day. In fact the first two weeks, I didnt even eat 600 a day but I think that is normal. Now that I am allowed to eat some somewhat normal foods I am finding that I am back to enjoying to eat again, which is NOT a good thing. I am also hoping that after my first fill which isnt until Oct 8th I will feel more full and restricted. Keep me posted about your progress.
  10. I was told that when you belch that is a sign that you have had enough food in that particular sitting . I do find this to be true. When I try to eat more after the initial belching( burping) then I get uncomfortable. As far as the hiccups go, I have never heard anything abou that.
  11. Hi there. I did not bother with my insurance either. I went to great lakes weight loss on the internet and found a self pay method for 10,700. THis is in Detroit with a well known physician, Dr. Laker. You can find other ppl on this forum that also had him. I was banded on aug 26th, two weeks ago. I figured my insurance would not pay because my bmi wasnt high enough and I didnt have any other medical problems except some depression. Heres the thing, As Americans we spen 5o thousand dollars on an automobile, what is 11 thousand on ourselves in comparison? Plus, if you are self pay you will get a surgery date in less than two weeks from the day you call and request to talk to a surgeon about the surgery. I am very happy that I went through with this. I hate it when I read how many ppl have been waiting on their insurance companies to come thru for them so that they can begin their journey. By all means, if you have insurance and dont mind the wait, Go for it! I mean, that is what we have insurance for!! However, if your situation does not allow that or you are impatient like me then the self pay option is great. Try this site..::..Great Lakes Weight Loss Surgery - Expert Lap Band and Gastric Bypass Surgeons..::. You will be pleased at all the information.
  12. I had lap band on Aug 26th and I could just NOT do the protein shakes. My doctor and nut had me drinking Carnation instant breakfast( no sugar added) with 2 percent milk. This is not as high in protein as other things but I did fine with this. It taste like chocolate milk and kept me very content. I cant do the nasty powders either. I tried the pre made shakes, the powder, even the supposedly tasteless powder, they all are gross. LOL! Luckily I am on mushy stuff now and loving it. I never thought I would love instant mash potatos as much as I do. I have some great ideas for mushy stuff that is delicious when you are ready for them. I dont have a profile here. I just came here. I am a member at obesityhelp.com which is a nice forum as well. ANyway, it sounds like we are going thru alot of the same things so I would love to share our experiences.
