  4. I just planted my mini patio garden. I ran out of pots, so I am going to purchase some more and soil as well. I am really excited about this and cannot wait to see my seeds grow.:thumbup:
  5. I love Miso Soup too, but not every day. I am trying to save money to buy a house, so I am now eating my left over dinner for lunch. This is really amazing for me, because I never use to eat left overs. But I don't mind if I can save money to buy a home. So, I make extra servings of dinner on purpose, so I can take the leftover to work to eat for lunch. Examples: Chili Taco salad Baked chicken with veggies Baked fish with veggies Chicken casserole Pasta casserole When I don't have left overs from dinner, I will make lettuce or tortilla wraps for lunch. Example: lettuce with humus spread on it and meat and cheese placed in the middle with onions and tomatoes. Example: Multi grain tortilla with humus, meat, cheese, onion, and veggies. And I can always make a nice salad with the left over meat from dinner.
  6. I have a 10cc LapBand. I heard the Realize Band is 9cc. As far as I know, the LapBand comes in a size 10cc and 14cc. Compare Adjustable Gastric Bands - LAP-BAND vs. REALIZE Band

  9. :scared2: Totally unnecessary comment and adds no value to this thread.:crying:
  10. You know come to think about it, I was 18 when I moved out. My siblings were 18 when they moved. And my DD was 18 when she moved out and that was 6 years ago. I nor my siblings were kicked out. We were just adventurous and wanted to explore our world away from our parents. We always kept in touch with mom and dad (and I talk to mom every week or stop by). But there was something exhilarating about being on your own. Making it in the world on your own. DD daughter felt the same way too. I always beg her to come back home because I miss her sooooooooooo much, but she is on her own adventure now...going to school and working. Unfortunately my son is mentally ill and is disabled by illness. I suspect he will be living with me for more years to come.
  11. LOL...This is so true.
  12. OMG LOL!!!!:crying::biggrin::heart::biggrin:

  14. Yesterday: 2.28 miles at 4% incline for 45 minutes.
  15. I forgot to mention, octo-mom took her fake nails off. Octo-mom and Dr. Phil were at Kaiser visiting th e babies and when octom-mom was picking up the babies she had no fake nails. That is another reason that I really think Dr. Phil and so many others are coaching her.
  16. I have to agree if it is at all possible to stay at home with the kids, then do it. But I do understand for single parent households that this more likey not possible. When I was married and the kids were young we were able to take advantage of our odd shift work. At one time hubby worked swings and I worked days, which helped limit day care use. Plus, we always had family. But when I divorced, the kids were 6 and 10 and I had no support system, so daycare and school was it. I had to work. Being a parent is so challenging.
  17. Oh you know what I forgot to mention, on Dr. Phil yesterday, he asked octo-mom if she was offered a porn deal. She stated yes, she thought it was a joke, and she would not do it. Dr. Phil also asked octo-mo if she was planning to do a tv reality show. She stated no...not in her plans... but would consider doing a medical tv special about her experience if it was tastefully done. I think Dr. Phil and others and finally getting through to octo-mom for the sake of all the children.
  18. I am no expert, but I presume it is because of less calories. I track calories, because it helps me stay on track and keeps me honest with myself. I now consume 1,200 to 1,400 calories a day. But is I don't track it, I can easily eat more than that. Right now, I have no restriction and I really would like to find my sweet spot. I have also heard if you go to low on calories it can impede your weight loss. Not sure if this is scientifically based in research or based on observation and hear say.
  19. You know what else was just amazing? The Angel Nurses stated it was important for the babies to bond with their mom, but it will be difficult for octo-mom to bond with each baby. Not that it cannot be done, but just logistically you only have so much time and so many arms. So this is what they are doing, which to me is just fascinating. All the care givers will use lavender lotion on their hands. Babies identify with their parents via smell and touch. With everyone using the same lavender smell at the same time the babies are being loved and cared for, the babies will associate to a positive experience and will bond and thrive. Also, octo-mom will sleep in t-shirts and each baby will be swaddled in the t-shirt with a blanket too, so they can know mom's scent. Amazing. Each care giver will be trained in how to handle the babies the way that octo-mom handles the babies. Example: the way octo-mom feeds the babies, each care giver will hold the baby the same way. In that way, each baby will be able to bond with mom. And this technique helps the baby to thrive and avoids confusing the baby. Again just amazing to me!!!!
  20. Kat, I wonder about the doctor in this case as well. I am not sure what the California medical review board is doing other than investigating. The standard of practice and the rules pertaining to in vitro state no more than two embryos transplanted at one time. He obviously disregarded this rule and thus no doubt will pay a price for his incompetency.
  21. LOL, Way too funny and so true!:confused:
  22. Patty, please re-read my last post. I did not state the babies are not healthy. I stated the babies have special needs, because they are preemies. Thank goodness the babies are doing well. However, Kaiser Permanente doctors, the Angel Nurses, Dr. Phil, Gloria Allred (sp) and octo-mom stated that these babies because of they were born prematurely, have special needs that require special care from nurses who are trained in neonatal care. On the Dr. Phil show the Angel nurses did mention some of the special needs pertaining to these 8 babies. They include breathing, thriving, bonding, suckling and immune system. I found the description of their special needs fascinating. They stated preemies are constantly being poked at and prodded as part of their medical care while at the hospital. They stated when a preemie is picked up that they tend to shut down and not bond, because they don't know if if they are being picked up for poking and prodding or for TLC. So yes, thank goodness the babies are doing well. But according to the doctor's at Kaiser these babies require round the clock care when they get home from specially trained nurses. It is one of the reasons why Kaiser has not released the babies to octo-mom yet. It is why I ask you, do you have some inside knowledge or are the Kaiser doctor's assigned to these babies liars?
  23. Really, what makes you an expert regarding these 8 babies. Additionally, how do you actually know the true cost of taking care of these 8 babies? Are you related to oct-mom? Do you have some inside knowledge? Just curious, because on Dr. Phil, both octo-mom, the Angel Nurses, and the doctor's at Kaiser were all very clear that these babies need special care when they go home. And that this care would cost a great deal of money, since the babies require nurses. So, are the doctor's at Kaiser liars? Do they not know the true needs of these babies?
  24. I was approved with Blue Shield of California, but my BMI was 40.1 or 40.2 something. If you have comorbidty (sp) issues then you should be okay with your BMI. However, check with your insurance company to determine what they require.
