  1. Hi Teresa so sorry to hear about your sister passing on Christmas Day. It is hard to find a bright spot with our love ones gone during the holidays. But, in her name you are committed to giving yourself a healthy life. It is the most importnat committment to keep to yourself, so move forward.

    Who is your doctor???

  2. Hi Emily: There has been a glitch again with my mom having the gastric bypass procedure at Valley Care. She had the colonoscopy and a endonscopy both of which show some issues that need to be delt with.

I have still not told her of my procedure as I just don't have the heart too, inlight of how many years she has been struggling to have the bypass. Not sure if she will ever have the bypass now.

  3. Hi Teresa:

My appointment went very well. I am now on mushies and next week will graduate to regular foods. I eat very slow and small quantities. I chew, chew, and chew, just so that the food goes down. Everything is staying down.

I will have my first fill at the end of the month, which doctor Kim stated would be 2ccs. I am already at 3ccs and I can feel the restriction. I am walking on my tread mill at home and feeling really energetic. According to my scale at home, I have lost 30 pounds. But I am sure the doctor's scale is more accurate and I see the doctor again next week.

Stay focused Teresa. I know its hard, but the pay off is big. You will really see the results with the band.

  4. Hi Emily. I my name is Terry. Yes, lets keep in touch. I am thrilled with the weight loss so far and cannot wait until I hit under 200. It has been 20 years, since I was under 200. Good luck with the procedure. I know you will do great.

  5. Hi Emily: I see you have surgery date. Yahoo!!! I am so happy for you. Good luck.

  6. Your welcome. Best of luck to you!

  7. Hi Teal: Sorry I missed you this morning. Dr. Kim was really quick and I arrvied early. I left the office at 9:05 am and then headed off to work. I am doing really well. Pre op weight 251 weight this morning on the doctor's scale 228. BMI 37.9.

Dr. Kim said if I continue to do well, I will not need to see her on 12/10/08, but would see her the week of X-Mas for a fill if needed.

I hope all is well with you. Have a great Thanksgiving.

  8. Wow, talk about a small world. Yes, I would love to go walking with you to, but I only have the weekends available right now. I work in Fairfield during the week, so by the time I get home it is way to dark to go for a safe walk in Stockton.

I live off West Hammer Lane on the lake. Nice view, very peaceful and relaxing.

The 3cc are working great. I am consuming a lot less calories and get full quicker. 23 pounds lost so far. I see doctor Kim next week for a check up, so I am sure she will place me on mushies.

  9. Hi Teresa:

Regarding the lab slip, you can take the lab slip to any lab which your health insurance covers services. My health insurance is Blue Shield with Calpers, which is administered by Hills Physicians. So I took the lab slip to Quest Labs, which provides covered services for my health care plan.

P.S. I dye my own hair too, which I did today. I got my hair cut today too. I go back to work Monday, so I wanted to get the color and cut done.

  10. I was at Wal-Mart yesterday morning too. OMG! Too funny. You should have said hello. Yep that was my first big day out. I was wearing black crop pants, sandles, black and white shirt and a grey sweat jacket.

  11. Hi Teresa:

Today was my first big day out. Lot's of driving around and shopping. I did really well. Felt great! When I got home I took a dose of liquid Tylenol and rested.

Tomorrow I am out getting my hair cut and colored.

I live in Stockton, but my primary care doctor is in Manteca, so since I am very familiar with Quest in Manteca, I did my H-pylori test in Manteca.

  12. Although, I completed the exercise journal and did not do the diet log, no one asked or collected the items from me, nor did I offer to provide the items. You are getting closer if you are scheduled for the nutrition/exercise class. After you attend that class, Myra or Helen will call you with an appointment to see the surgeon. Did you do the Hpy-lori test already? If not, I recommend you do it as quickly as possible so it is one less thing you need to accomplish.

  13. Emily good luck to you! It will not be that much longer for you. You are so close to completing the process. :-)

  15. Hi Laurie:

My surgery went well with Dr. Kim and her crew. I decided to have the new generation Lap Band inserted. It is a 10CC band, which Dr. Kim pre-filled with 3 CC during surgery. I did not have any swelling and the swallow test went very well. I am on the phase I liquid diet. I ended staying at Alta Bates for two days, because I was having an issue with pain managment. I am allergic to several different pain meds and it was hard to get the pain under control without being nauseated.

Other than that, I am doing well. I am now at home. I feel more rested at home. I am making sure I get my fluids in and I am going on little walks in my apartment.

I have no issue with gas pains at home, but while at the hospital the gas pain hurt. The walking really helped with the gas pain. I have a follow up appointment with Dr. Kim the day before Thanksgiving. I am also glad I took two weeks vacation time off from work.

  17. Thanks. I did all my pre-op lab work on Friday and everything looked good. I cannot believe Tuesday is just next week and then I will be banded.

I will keep in touch and let you know how it goes. :-)

  18. Hello Laurie: All is well with me. I am drinking lots of protien and getting lots of rest. Keeping stress at bay and keeping busy at work. I recommend drinking the ISD New Whey protien bullets. They have various flavors, with 42 grams of protien in a 3.1 ounce serving. It goes down quick and it is very filling. I also like the Isopure drinks with 40 grams of protien.

I have lost 15 pounds thus far by drinking those products, but honestly I have slipped on the pre-op diet, but I am still losing weight. It is hard to believe that my surgery is next week. I have been so busy that I have not had time to think of the procedure. This is my 10th surgery, so I am not afraid of being in the operating room. This Friday I have the EKG and blood work done. I work on Monday and then Tuesday is the surgery. I will let you know how it goes when I get home from the hospital stay.

Where are you at with the process???

  19. Hi Teresa:

It's hard to believe that in six days I will have my surgery. I really have not had time to think about the actual procedure. I am busy at work and trying to complete my thesis for the masters program I am at.

I do my pre-surgery testing...blood, urine and EKG lab work this Friday morning. I have lost 15 pounds on the pre op diet. But honestly, I have slipped up on this diet, but still have lost weight. I highly recommend the ISD New Whey protien bullets in any flavor. I like them a lot, but I know some people think they are gross. They have 3.1 ounces of 42 grams of protien. High protien fills me up.

I also like the Isopure drinks with 40 grams of protien... I like all the flavors, chilled on ice. I do eat an evening meal of meats and veggies.

I am keeping my stress level down and getting lots of rest so that I don't get sick. I had the flu shot last week as well, just to be on the safe side.

How is the process going for you???

  20. Hi Jean: BC/BS stated that I have free unlimted fills in the first 90-days, then I get two fills each calendar year. I have a co-pay of $15.00. It just seems odd that that there are only 2 fills per calendar year. I cannot wait to see what the insurance company mails me.

Your right, I know to stay healthy and stress free. I am trying very hard to get at least 8-hours sleep to help with that. I am going to GNC tomorrow to purchase protien bullets.

  21. Thanks Jean. I am not nervous right now, but will probably be crawling out of my skin in November. Right now, I am just trying to keep healthy. We are going into cold and flu season and I get sick real easily. I continue to take my vitamins and I am getting plenty of rest. Trying to keep my stress level low. :-)

Anyway, I have Hills Physicians BC/BS and I have been trying to have them senf me their WLS policy to me. I want it in writing, so I can know how many fills they cover, what the fees are, and what recourse I have if there are issues with the band. I have requested this information three times and yesterday they stated they would send it to me. Same old story....I will keep trying to get it. Basically, it is an internal document for BC/BS and is not in my companies insurance policy. That just sounds crazy to me.

    Anyway, keep in touch.

  22. Hi Teresa, I just saw you post. Yes things are moving very quickly now. Thank you so much for your support. I appreciate it. I started replacing one meal a day with broth and cut back on my portions. I am drinking protien shakes when I start craving junk food. It is hard to do. I will keep in touch.

  23. Hi Jean, the surgery is slated for 11/11/2008.

  24. Hello again. My surgery is scheduled for 11/11/2008.

  25. Jean: The insurance approved the surgery this afternoon at 5:oo pm. I cannot believe how quickly that went. I am hoping to get a surgery date tomorrow.
