  1. That's cool! I would still practice eating like you would after surgery. Chew foods 22 times, don't drink with meals, drink fluids an hour after meals or 30 minutes before meals. 3oz lean protein, 1/2 cup veggies or fruit, light dressings, eat protein first. 3 meals a day. Practice getting your protein and fluids in. I find it hard after surgery so far, but working hard on it every day
  2. I am doing great. Started pureed/soft foods and everything seems to go down smoothly. The refried beans dish is soon good! I really didn't think that was going to be my favorite so far! I'm craving blue raspberry sushi. Any recipes?
  3. I'm having trouble getting enough fluid and protein in. I'm trying but I end up taking a nap during the day and it makes me lose out on those goals. And when I wake up it's hard to get everything in before the end of the night. I need to stay up, but I just get so sleepy. It was a problem before surgery too. But as a result of the lack of fluids, I think I may be getting a UTI or something. I'm so sick of the protein shakes, I bought a tropical punch protein water powder stuff by isopure and its pretty bitter, but im going to try to add one of those flavor packets to it to enhance it. Things go down good tho. The first few days it felt bubbly, but each day things got better. Nothing has made me sick yet. I think thats because I haven't tried new things lol. Pureed diet will be another story, hopefully nothing makes me sick. Are you still on full liquids still or did you move to puree?
  4. I see in the recipes they gave. One has powdered peanut butter and then the other one doesn't specify if it's regular or powder so maybe I'm allowed. Lol I'm gonna check the recipe again. It's funny cause some stuff has sugar that I'm allowed and it doesn't bother me. Like the yogurt I get
  5. I had a salted caramel one, tasted good warm, then I couldn't finish it so I put it in the refrigerator and then the sweetness really came out. I guess they were right, our tastebuds change! I'm a side sleeper, I can't usually sleep on my back. Were you sore when you got up?
  6. I want to make a chocolate peanut butter protein shake and I want to use peanut butter instead of the powdered peanut butter. Is it okay to use it? I love jiff brand
  7. Not only do hiccups hurt, but sneezing too lol. I'm still having trouble getting my goals met. But I can't achieve them if I the a nap during the day. That's hard wven before surgery, I took a nap during the day. I find it hard too because I'm so sick of protein shakes, they're starting to taste so sweet to me. I can't wait to start purees next week. It doesn't hurt to sleep on your stomach? When I was able to sleep on my side a few days ago, I was so happy, but I have to have a pillow.
  8. I hear you! It still is a little hard being a week out. But try a spoonful or a sip, wait for it to go down and just pay attention to how it feels. Maybe wait a few seconds to a minute and then take another sip/spoonful
  9. What did you feel like the night you had surgery to 2 days post op? Anybody feel discomfort? Does it feel like you're swallowing air when you drink anything or eat yogurt/jello? I'm feeling this. I'm going to tell my surgeon in the morning when he checks in. I hope it's a normal feeling. It definitely feels restricted. Hopefully all I'm feeling is gas...gas that won't come, just tiny burps. I'm scared to eat jello and yogurt, I only took a few bites. I was so scared.
  10. How are you doing so far? Did you move on to pureed yet?
  11. I should probably wait until pureed anyways, it's looks more like a pureed food to be honest. Sounds delicious tho
  12. Thanks everyone! I really can't wait until pureed foods. I definitely know things would be easier. I have things planned already and I just can't wait. I didn't have problems with the protein shakes before surgery either, but they're just tasting a lot more sweeter now 😳 I'm gonna have a chocolate on tomorrow. Maybe I need a different flavor instead of caramel and creamy cinnamon. I could also make a protein smoothie too. Which that sounds really good. My mom made homemade macaroni soup a few days ago, it was great and we had left overs tonight and it was even better. Homemade soups are better. Glad to know that each day gets better! Do you guys know if applesauce is considered something allowed on the full liquid diet? I didn't see anything in my directions.
  13. I'm getting sick of the protein shakes, they're definitely too sweet 😭 I could get unflavored protein powder to put in broths, but im not sure yet. Ahh I'm craving cheese
  14. I'm 5 days post op now and I also felt really weak and light headed. I think cause I slept in too long. I felt much better after taking some deep breaths. It's really hard to get all of my requirements in and I'm kind of worried about what would happen if I can't get it figured out. I need at least 64 ounces of fluids, 60 to 80 grams of protein and up to 1200 calories. Ahhh! I have bariatric fusion complete chewable vitamins and for bypass I need to get 4 or those in a day. I only got one today (I know if I got up earlier I'd have met that goal). Tomorrow is a new day and my son goes back to school so I'll be getting up earlier and hopefully I'll be able to get everything in. I'm gonna try to track things again. How does everyone get things in for the day? It seems hard.
  15. Doing good over here. I find it a bit hard to get all the protein in and all the fluids
  16. 4 days out now. How many ounces should I be having of liquids? I don't think it was in discharge papers or the other papers I got from my bariatric center. I can't wait for pureed!
  17. I feel pretty great at the moment. My stomach only feels sore and the gas is what I'm feeling more as well. Let me know how the pureed food go for you! I feel like I'll be eating a lot of sugar free Popsicles. Is that what it felt like when you took a drink or ate jello/yogurt like air goes down then it comes back up? The Dr said it was normal
  18. I feel pretty good right now lol
  19. Thank you, today was a lot better than. Yesterday, I was even able to sleep. I asked the surgeon if it was normal, he said yes. I can't drink the protein shake tho, it tastes Nasty. Got more water down than yesterday and a little more than. Half if the yogurt. It's weird feeling full after that
  20. How did you Night go? It was hard. Just uncomfortable. I'm not sure if what I'm feeling is my stomach or gas, but I do feel like have a giant burp. It just won't com P
  21. Let me know how you feel when you get to a room. I have discomfort and I don't know If t's the gas or my stomach
  22. Surgery went great. It's a little bit sore where they did bypass. And a little gas I feel. I walked twice so far. I know I should have been walking more
  23. Oh yeah I needed a letter from my primary care doctor too
  24. I'm worried that it won't work too, but im more scared that I'm going to die 😱 and leave everyone behind especially my son. Ahhh! Anyways I need to be at the hospital for 9am and it's going on 3:30am. I don't think ill be sleeping. I know I'll keep looking at the clock so I can get in the shower. I too just can't wait until I'm in recovery. I'll definitely be your buddy! Good luck to you as well!!
  25. I can't believe that tomorrow is already my surgery day. I'm getting really scared. There's this one thought that's really scaring me and I'm positive everyone gets this thought too. But ahhh! I'm so scared!
