  1. Went and saw my Dr today. He thinks the reason that I got so tight was because I was overfilled before my fill. I had started with 6 cc's back in nov 09, and last friday I had 5.5cc's in there. He said that is normal. He put 1.5 cc's in there today which brought me back up to 5 cc's. I have an appt in 2 wks with the nutritionist and in 4 weeks with the Dr again to see how I'm doing and If I need another fill.

  2. So, I spent 6 hrs at the ER, the oncall dr for my facility was stuck at home. I ended up meeting him at 10am (was supposed to meet at 815) this am. He took out 3 cc's. Instant relief. Came home and slept 4 hrs (oh and ate a bowl of grits). I confirmed with him first and he said I can eat whatever I want since I've been through this ordeal. LOL. So I just had some cottage cheese and the small portion filled me up.

  3. I had mine done 5 weeks ago or so. They tried both wrists and the fold of my left arm. She dug for it in the fold of my arm and 5 weeks later my thumb is still sore and tingles ALL the time. After the 3rd time and I'm crying my eyes out she got her boss. He got it on the 2nd try. They informed me I was a hard stick. I had bruises all over my arms. I looked like a junkie. They say I'll get feeling back in my thumb. I wish it would happen sooner rather than later.

  4. I was banded on 6/25. My port is on my right side about a hand width away from my sternum. The first week I slept sitting up then started sleeping sort of on my side laying down. I had been sleeping on my stomach for about a week now. Now for the question. Today it hurts if I lay down its not a sharp pain more of a dull ache and almost a pulling (yes i know its sewn into my muscle). Its gotten so its actually uncomfortable to lay down. Could this be a port that is trying to flip? Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks.

  5. When I was on my liquid diet 2 weeks before my surgery on 6/25/09, I had gone to my parents house for fathers day. My whole family was there. I had asked them to please eat before I got there because I was on liquids and didn't feel comfortable sitting at the table watching everyone eat. My step mom actually yelled at me. Told me it was fathers day and I was a part of the family and just because it was my choice to lose weight I was going to sit there whether I liked it or not. Mind you I am 35 years old. I called my father and my brother and explained things to them and they said they would handle it. It was agreed they would eat at 2pm and I'd be there at 4 after I got off work. I showed up and they had not even started eating. My brother showed up and I was almost in tears because of course my step mom had made all my favorite foods. Fortunately my 1 yr old niece was teething and didn't want to sit down and she loves her Aunt Kathy so she and I walked around the house while everyone else ate. Of course step mom got upset when I told her I didn't want ice cream for dessert. I explained to her that just because it was a liquid didn't mean I could eat it. That seemed to shut her up. She has been supportive ever since. Just weird how some people don't care how you are feeling or if what they say or do is going to hurt you.

  6. Thanks. Yeah, I'm not married. My roommate has babied me beyond belief. He's my best friend and has taken such good care of me, from going to all my pre op appts and all my post op appts thus far. Not to mention taking care of me the last 2 1/2 weeks since surgery.

  7. I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op. Friday I went to my PCP for a sinus infection and started on antibiotics. Since Friday I have had a Migraine. I'm still getting my Protein in but not my fluids. Today I had low grade fever 99.9 and am just feeling really run down. I'm trying to force fluids but because of migraine I have no appetite. I don't know if this is from the sinus infection or if I'm getting dehydrated. I hate to bother my surgeon's office for something non band related but I don't know what to do.

  8. Good luck. I am 2 days out and just remember to walk. I've had one issue with gas in my shoulder. Was painful. GasX strips are not to bad. I just feel like I have done several hundred sit ups. I expected the pain to be so much worse. As for nerves. I almost canceled my surgery the morning of. For me, Thursday was the first day of the rest of my life.

  9. I can finally post my story YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was banded today 6/25/09. Arrived at hospital at 5:45. Went upstairs to waiting room to check in at 6 after parents got there (they got lost). Talked with them for a few minutes and got called back. Changed into my beautiful hospital gown and was taken to the bathroom to do a sterile scrub for 5 min. I have a phobia of needles so my nurse let my roomate come in while I got my IV. My roomate left and my parents came in and they all 3 switched out while the anesthesiologist and dr came in to see me and nurse gave me happy meds. Surgery was at 815. Rolled into the operating room and asked scoot over to the table. Nurse asked me what I was in there for, I told em it was a really bad hang nail. They all just stopped and stared at me. I told em then I was there for the Lapband. They put O2 on me and never even told me they were admistering the night night drugs. I just felt really dizzy and next thing I remember I was waking up in Recovery. She asked me if I hurt and I said yes, so they gave me meds for pain and nausea (this was at 1015 am). When I woke up again and was able to talk I asked her if I had gotten banded. I looked at the nurse and said woohoo and fell back asleep w/ a smile on my face. Woke up when they rolled me into a secondary recovery room and let my family come back. They said the doctor told them that everything went great. I had a small hiatal hernia but doctor fixed it while he was in there. At 145 or 2pm nurse came and wheeled me down to xray where I drank some contrast liquid and got to see it go down thru the band. Dr came in and brought me a Teddy Bear, gave us some instructions and told me I could go home. I was on way home at 320 pm. We got home around 430 pm. I've been sipping watered down sugar free juice. What sucks the most is I've had diareah since I got home. Every 2 hrs or so. Its only liquid but annoying. I've been focusing on taking deep breaths and taking my liquid hydrocodone. Right now I don't hurt, its just an uncomfortable ache. Maybe a 1 or 2 on the pain scale. Like I did a bunch of crunches. I've dozed on and off all day. I'm more comfortable in my bed so I have pillows and blankets propping me up so its comfortable. Not to mention easier to get in and out of bed. I hope everyone else banded today is doing well in our June Journey to a healthier us.

  10. So surgery is tomorrow (6/25) for me. I am really nervous. Doesn't help that when I went for pre-op Friday they "forgot" to do the blood gas test so I had to go back yesterday. 5 sticks and a still numb thumb later they finally got it. They tried both wrists (one twice) and the bends of both elbows. The first one she got all nerves so if I move the wrong way the nerves start to sharply tingle all the way down my arm. Not a fun experience. I'm treating myself to a massage this morning to try and get relaxed somwhat, then gonna come home and finish laundry and last minute cleaning. By this time tomorrow I should be on my way in to the Operating room and on my way to banderland. Good luck to everyone having their band today and tomorrow. Lets work this together to making ourselves healthier.

  11. I'm scheduled for surgery in 16 days on June 25th. Friday night while I was sleeping I apparently ripped my CPAP mask off my face. I now have a hole in the mask thanks to my lovely fingernails (which have since been cut really short). I drove 2 hrs today to get a new mask and they gave me the wrong size. My dr wants me to be on the CPAP for 3 weeks prior. I'm gonna be a week with out since it will be Friday before I can make the 2 hr drive again. How imperative is it to be on the CPAP for 3 weeks? I've already gotten the time approved from work and that is near to impossible to do. I can't reschedule this. I have already sent the rep at the CPAP company an email asking him to assist me and possibly ship me one to my house. I'm so stressed now. :grouphug::cursing:
