greeneyedgirl79 got a reaction from SemperVeritas in March 23 buddies yet?
I just started using Carb Manager to track today. I'm liking it so far. And I finally did a workout tonight. I did strength training for legs/butt, only about 30 minutes. It kicked my butt, literally!! My legs are Jello now. But I did something, and I feel good about that. Now to make it a habit!
The energy thing drives me crazy. My labs came back great, except my Iron saturation was high (total iron was normal). Not sure what that means. My follow-up appt isn't until July 5th, so I guess I'll find out then.
Congrats on the almost 50 lbs! That's awesome!

    Hi!
I was sleeved on March 7th. My highest weight was 309 lbs, and my weight after the pre-op diet was 296 lbs. I'm currently sitting at 251 lbs. I'm very excited to make it to - 60 lbs, but I'm at a bit of a stall.
I walk 5-6 times a week for 20-30 minutes (20 minutes moreso lately because it's so hot outside), and I also do resistance training 2 times a week. I have way more energy than I did pre-op, which is so far my favorite aspect. I'm struggling with trying to find the balance between harder and too easy workouts right now.
I can eat most food, if not all food with no discomfort. I've been sick twice, but it wasn't bad and I think it was due to me eating too fast at the time. bread doesn't sit as easily in my stomach, but I don't miss it. I don't miss sodas, but I do miss my sparkling Water. 😪
I haven't been able to see a big difference on myself until recently. I still feel like I look the same, but everyone else sees a difference and that is very encouraging.
I struggle with PCOS, so I am hoping that as I lose weight, my ovulatory and fertility issues will improve, too. I'm seeing a lot of small changes so far, and it's all so exciting. It's the best decision that I've ever made.

Hi, i had bypass on March 10th in Ireland. I started out at 18.9 stone and I'm currently 14.2 stone/lbs. I can eat almost everything but in small potions. Bread.... no interest it doesn't sit well. I'm not tracking or probably not hitting my Protein or fluid goals. Exercise just starting, walking and some sea swimming. But I'm so happy i took this step. So happy.

I had the bypass done on March 7th. I'm 5'4 and starting weight was 233, 221.4 on day of surgery. Today I weighed in at 184.6, so about 48 lbs lost in total. Really excited to hit 50 lost, and then I'll only have about 5 lbs to get to my previous low I had reached on my own about 5 years ago. I'm averaging about 1100 calories a day, and I track with LoseIt because I could see myself snacking around my restriction. I do "formal" exercise about 3x week, and I'm generally pretty busy around the house or going for walks. Energy level is pretty low though, I definitely don't feel like I'm bouncing around lol.
Hope everyone else is well and healthy!

Just wanted to check in on all the March 2023 peeps and see how it's going! As for me, I was sleeved on 3/24/23. Lost 12.3 lbs before surgery and have lost 21.3 lbs since surgery, for a total of 33.6 lbs at 6 wks post-op. This feels slow to me, and I often wonder if I'm doing something wrong. I had the dreaded 3 week stall and then a big "woosh" of several pounds in a week. I tolerate every food I try and get my 64 oz in which is great, but I don't feel much restriction anymore, and I definitely get hungry before 3 hrs. I try to get at least 15 grams of Protein every 3 hours, but I'm still hungry. 😩 I also probably need to get back to walking. I'm one of those that is very reliant on the scale even though I definitely know how exercise works and how muscle weighs more but also burns more fat. My energy has been LOW, and as soon as I took a break from walking my 2.5 miles a day to try and rest a bit, I had the big movement on the scale. So, I haven't started back up for that reason. I'm just not the type of person that can withstand the scale stalls and comfort myself with "muscle weighs more." Pitiful, I know. I'm so dang impatient. Once I make a decision, I want it now! (I know it doesn't work that way, but 🤷🏼‍♀️ I can't help it!). How's it going for everyone else?

I have similar stats only I’ve lost less! Only 23 overall at 5 weeks post. I’m just trying to think about slow being better for skin stuff.

Hi- im 5’2’’ and started at 195. I lost 12lbs in the three weeks I had to surgery, then went into surgery at 183.6. I am currently 8 weeks and 3 days, and weigh 155.6 today. I agree- it will come and I’d prefer to lose more slowly so my skin has some chance of recovering too- even though i know that is a bit of a pipe dream. I try to keep in mind this is not a magic wand, it comes down to my choices with this tool I’ve acquired. I am still only eating 2-3 oz at a time, 2-3 small “meals” a day and a Protein Shake to make sure i hit my Protein goals. Im hitting fluid goals at about 68-70oz Fluid, so still working on that too.
Also, I think my body has some memory of these weights, and I tend to get “hung” around some that i stayed at before- ie, 165, current one 155, and coming up 145… so expecting some resistance on these numbers- and more slowly as i get closer to goal. I do FEEL tons better though- less joint pain and tiredness, so that is a WIN!
For me, the numbers on the scale mean less that how I feel- so im enjoying it!

I was sleeved on March 7th, with a 2 week Pre-Op Diet. I lost 20 lbs prior to surgery and since I’m down another 25 lbs and 4 inches off my waist. I get on the scale way too often! I can tolerate almost anything and I’m still on soft foods. I work out 6 days a week; a Pilates workout, 30 minutes on a stationary bike and an arm workout with a resistance band instead of weights. I’ve somehow made the mental switch to eating to live and I look at food completely different now. I’m rarely hungry and sometimes forget to eat. I have a huge sweet tooth and I’ve been worried about never having sugar again. I bought a Ninja Creami and problem solved!! The ice cream I can make tastes great !! So far the only regret I have is not doing this sooner. My team is happy with my progress so far and I’m looking forward to creating my new look. I am freaking out a little about the possibility of losing my hair. If it happens around 3 months, that’s next month for me. I have a lot more energy.

I had my surgery on January 25th, 2023, Im 5"1 and I weighed 210 lbs. Today I weigh 157 lbs. So it's almost been a little over three months and I feel better but still have some issues when it comes to eating. Some days I cannot eat a bite and on others, I can eat a small meal without difficulty. I am happy with my decision to make this lifestyle change overall.

My hand is up. I’m 5’3” & weighed 200lbs when I started. I lost to my goal by 6 months (132lbs - so loss of 68lbs). I kept losing very slowly for another 10 or so months until I reached 108lbs - a total loss of 94lbs. I’ve been pretty much stable since then aside from little fluctuations & I’ll be 4 years out on the weekend.
There is no right or wrong rate of your weight loss. There are averages but like all averages (statistics) some will lose more than the average others less. And some will lose at a faster rate & others will lose at a slower rate. Averages only give you an idea of what might happen not what will happen. And all of this is okay. Remember it’s not a race.
There are some things you can pretty much rely on. If you weigh more at the beginning you tend to lose larger amounts at first (like you see on My 600lb Life). Your weight loss is always more in the beginning. Everyone’s rate of loss slows. If you follow your plan, you will lose at the rate that is right & best for you. Nothing wrong with 21lbs in 6 weeks. (I’d lost about 22lbs at 6 weeks.) That’s about 3lbs a week. Can’t complain about that. The only time you should be concerned is if your surgeon or team is.
    Celebrate every pound you lose.

I want to start by saying I know that "everyone is different," and "it's not a race, it's a journey", but I sometimes have a hard time relating because I had VSG at 199 lbs (I'm 5'2") and the weight loss just seems so much slower than most of what I see online. I'm 6 wks post-op and down 21 lbs since surgery and 33.5 lbs including pre-op diet. I've seen the charts saying how much I can expect to lose in what time-frames, but I would love to hear from others with similar starting stats. I get discouraged pretty easily and need some inspiration or similar stories.
How long did it take to reach your goal? How much had you lost at about 6 wks (or 1-2 months?) When did you see the biggest loss?
    Thanks!!

I found this image and it has given me so much comfort.
I've also been doing a lot of Googling bc my surgery center hasn't given much guidance around anything other than Protein and liquid goals.
From what I've read, at this time post-op I should be getting around 500 cals per day, and eating 1/4 c. to 1/2 c. at each sitting (every 3-4 hrs). For reference, I was sleeved on 3/24/23.
I look at multiple sites of reputable surgery centers before I decide what to "believe".
Hang in there friends! We got this!

I've had my sleeve surgery on March 23rd. I was 326 lbs before the liquid diet, dropped down to 310 just a day before surgery and now I'm between 271 and 275.
Today (April 20th) kinda marks my 1 month post op and I've been hospitalized twice! The first time happened was when I was switching over to a Multivitamin pill from a chewable. (2 weeks post op) Once I popped that pill and swallowed it, I felt it opened in my stomach and left a extremely bitter taste and threw up all of my medication and made me weak. Went to the hospital and they said that I was dehydrated. Thank you multivitamin pill for making me feel this way. They gave me IV and sent me home the same day.
The second time, which was last Saturday (4/15), I was sitting on my couch taking a little nap because I was a little tired. I woke up and left my plate from my lunch on my table. I got up, took it in the kitchen and right away felt so exhausted! My partner saw me and said what's wrong? I remember saying help me to the couch. 15 seconds later and I was on the floor by my bathroom. I've actually lost consciousness for 15 seconds and let's just say that I didn't make it to the toilet in time... Went back to the hospital for test and lab work and my red blood cells were at a all time low. They gave me IV and magnesium. Stayed overnight. When my levels were somewhat normal, they sent me home.
Today, had an appointment with my regular doctor. He said that I'm mild anemic and things will slowly get better overtime. I have another appointment to go to tomorrow and that's with my bariatric surgeon. Almost everyday, im having nausea. Making it a little difficult to take my medication/vitamins and eat/drink. If I knew my body would be going through this, I never would have did this!

You are doing great! This isn't magic and as you've read many times everyone is different. You are still recovery and you just need to be concerned with following your plan and getting your fluids and then Protein. Keep your head up and only weigh once a week. Also remember the lower your BMI the less pounds you are going to loose when comparing yourself (dont) to someone with a much higher BMI. We should be talking about percentages of excess weight instead of pounds/kilos lost. As percentages generally match long term. Increase exercise in small incriminates as you can tolerate and stick to your prescribed diet and you will succeed!

When you guys are talking about how much weight you've lost, are you including what was lost during the pre-op diet as well, or just strictly what you've lost since surgery day? I've been a bit disappointed. I lost 10 before surgery, and 11 after surgery (3/24/23), which I was very pleased with. Week 1 I was still on Clear Liquids, and this week on full liquids, I actually ended up the exact same weight as last week. Just seems really early to be stalling. I'm trusting the process and sticking to the plan, but man it's discouraging.
