  3. okay, i watched a little of the video, skipped around some. i had to stop after about 5 mins. it is neat how they do it, however, but when i saw the intestines, that was enough of insides for me!! i really do not like to watch too many surgeries, not my thing. i only have 15 days til surgery, getting a tad bit nervous, but still very happy about it.
  4. OMG---that sounds like something i might do one day!! i can remember back when i tried jogging--had to wear 2 bras to keep from getting black eyes!! the 1st time, i had on an underwire bra, the next day, i had bruises from the wires!
  5. CHANGE YOUR WHOLE JANE lol .....okay, that's what i'm trying to do !!
  6. this is too funny!! this is a lot of fun. i have on period granny panties, but not on my period--need to wash clothes. no bra--i take it off within 2 minutes of getting in the door--always had huge boobs--now they are a 52 I----LOL i let them swing whenever i can, if they get in my way i just throw them over my shoulders (well, maybe not, but almost! ) the lady half naked in the bathroom would have grossed me out enough to openly stare at her........OMG....i love to read the funny threads people start---i need this entertainment!!!!!!!
  7. gettinghealthy--i will be leaving on the 14th, sunday, to go home.....i will only see you if you are coming down a little early---i have surgery on 11th w/dr. rumbaut. but if i do not see you, we will be talking on here very shortly after. my husband is in ccu at hospital since monday, we hope he does fine, i may have to change my surgery date depending on his health. but for now it is still the 11th.:nervous
  8. congratulations on your surgery date!! i am having surgery on the 11th, maybe we compare a few notes after surgery. it is a little nerve-wracking to me as i wait...i am starting liquid diet on may 1st. what about you ? i know you must be very excited....:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  9. just thought i would put in an update--no one has posted here in weeks!!! i have been scheduled for surgery on may 11th in monterrey, mx. i am very excited. i just want to LIVE through surgery and have a fairly easy recovery. where are all us older folks at lately??
  10. well....i just got a surgery date a few minutes ago!!!! may 11th :banana i am soooooooo excited:D :clap2: i will be getting banded in monterrey, mx. i am looking forward to and nervous about the surgery. but i know i will do fine. :uwelcome: my friend and i will going down on tues, the 9th, pre-op stuff on 10th, surgery on 11th, back home on sunday, the 14th. that will also be mother's day--i will be glad to be home by then to see my kids and DH. i hope to meet those of ya'll who will be there at the same time. maybe we will see each of at hotel lobby.....
  11. gee, i will be happy with good health and lowered arthritis pain! i wear a size 5x on top, a 4x on bottom right now, a women's size 36. i am 5'3 1/2" and would be so shocked and happy to be a size 18 or 20.
  12. lisa---i am very interested in scavenger hunt info---i have 9 and 12 yr olds--this would be a fun summer activity with kids in the neighborhood--tell me what you can!!
  13. diane-what wonderful pictures.....thanks so much for sharing...it is very encouraging! you look so good.....
  14. listen to LilAngel..........she seems so wise for someone so young. many, many things on this thread sound familiar. i use a scooter when out in public....my husband and kids are used to unloading it, etc. after 2 yrs. but i know at times they might be embarassed. they don't usually show it and NEVER say anything about it. my husband of almost 20 yrs has also NEVER said anything about my weight.. i weighed 225 when we met. i think i will keep him!! but as a young woman, i was in an abusive relationship..and made bad decisions. you can only make good ones-ones that are right for you, if you FEEL YOU DESERVE IT !! i know you deserve it--try to be strong and take time to think about what is right for you. life will take us in many directions, sometimes we can decide where, sometimes it is out of our hands. you cannot control another grown person....you can only control yourself. just because we may not control our weight or eating habits, does not mean we are out of control in other aspects of our lives. personally, i am a control freak...but as the years go by, i seem to stop trying to control things THAT I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER !!! take a breath and trust that you will do the right thing.....in your heart you probably know yourself very well.......i love reading all the messages on this site and have learned from so many already.........YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL..
  15. hello everybody..........just wondered if anybody is ou t there tonight.. Posterchild--no, i will have my band done in monterrey--i did check into dr bour in g'ville, but he has done less than 75 lap bands and i was more comfortable with a dr more experienced who also taught other doctors. but my insurance will not cover, so i will get it in mx.
  16. thanks, wheetsin---that thread answered my question, but GOOD!! and now i know that no question is too wierd....
  17. good for you!!! WOW---how exciting---i know you will do fine on the liquid diet, just do whatcha need to do---CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!
  18. i know this is wierd question--has anyone ever had a craving for a particular food after being banded and just chewed it and spit it out? i mean not swallowing any of it?? i do not have band yet, but i do not want to freakout and try to eat something like, coconut cake or some other thing i might want. i wondered if just tastingit--then spitting it out would work if it is a very bad craving i cannot get away from....
  19. melissa--your dr., pardon me, sounds like a dork! it sounds like you are trying all the RIGHT things---HE sounds like he wants to sabotage you-- like you have no mind of your own!! i feel so sorry for you--so many illnesses in a row---i read somewhere last year that some people felt like their immune system WAS compromised by the band. i know NOTHING about it, but this is not the 1st time i have heard it. maybe somewhere in internet -land you can get more info. i hope you feel better soon. HUGS**
  20. Xann77, i hope to get banded w/dr rumbaut. any info on your experience is greatly appreciated. info about hospital, hotel, dr. r--thanks
  21. i have not gotten banded yet, but hopefully soon. i am 50 yrs old and think this thread will be interesting to read-hope more people add to it- i also have about 200 lbs to lose and will try to do my very best to achieve this.
  22. teresa, thank you---i am sure i will start doing more to get ready for the band---i have already done some small things--trying to chew food extremly well, eating slower, etc--i love water, but still do not thnk i drink enough. when i drink large amounts-it just sloshes around in my stomach for hours. i also take diuretics--so peeing and drinking are big parts of my day!! the banana with the boobs is so cute!!:biggrin1:
  23. ms vicki, thank you so much for the kind words--i have enjoyed this web site so much. it feels like such a friendly place--i still am trying to get insurance to pay--i will see how it goes...but i am awfully determined!!
  24. hello, i am pre-band-no surgery date yet-i hope in may or june. i think i weigh 375 and @ 5'3 1/2", my bmi is 65!!! i get so discouraged to think about it--having to lose about 200 lbs. at least. i KNOW i will be all wrinkly and saggy and will not be able to ever have any cosmetic surgery, but hopefully i will live longer. i would like to be able to take a shower again w/o a shower chair-you know -maybe actually stand up!! not have to ride my scooter when i have to go out in public. i don't use it at home--but i am sure my kids hate me having to use it for ball games, school functions, etc...........oh, well , i know i have a long way to go-- and i am committed--i will look for the small victories ....:straight
  25. i need to lose 200-225 lbs--i am committed to doing the very best i can-- at my age, i cannot afford to waste much time---i feel like the time is right for me---if i don't do it now, i do not think i will be here in 5yrs!! and i have a 9yr old and a 12 yr old to take care of
