Ok here goes. Im a 41 wife and mother of four, 22, 21, 8, & 6. A grandmother of two, 2 and 6m. I have survived a hystorectomy, and cancer of my kidney. I am ready to take control of my life and lapband is going to be my tool to start! I started my journey in Dec. of 07. For ins. I had to lose 20lbs to qualify for the surgery. It was a long hard road. I thought to myself if I could lose the 20lbs on my own I wouldn't be trying to get a lapband. Well I did very well losing the wait until March, I had lost about 10lbs and had to have foot surgery. Guess what? I gained my weight back. I got back on the wagon the next month, did all my visits for heart, pulmanary, (find out I have sleep apnea) and psyc.. by Aug. I lost 15lbs again and they sent it off to my ins. co.. The next week my ins. approved surgery:thumbup:. Well I called the office to set my surgery date and find out they never recieved ok from pulmanry Dr.. I had to call them and they said I needed another appt.. Luckily they got me in the next day. It is Mon. morning and Im waiting for 9:00 to call the office and see if they recieved the ok. Just when I think everything is back on trac my dh dicides to let me know he doesn't want me to do the surgery. Now's a fine time to tell me. He is afraid something might go wrong or I won't make dinner after I have the surgery (he loves his food, who dosen't). Ive assured him the only thing that would chande was my size. He did let me know it was my choice, but I still can tell he is upset about the whole issue. I want this to work out so bad. Im tired of being fat and hungry all the time.

  4. Ok, I'm fairly new to all of this. I love this place. I've learned more on this web site than anywhere. I began this journey in Dec. of 07. I've done my pulmonary. check, my heart check and my psyc. check and have approval from Ins. I'm waiting for the Dr office to get the pulm. ok which is just a fax away. Then I will get my surgery date. I've been researching lapband A LOT! What I don't understand is after people have the surgery there talking about keeping track of calories and eating healthy (I get the health part), but don't you think if I could count calories and stuff I wouldn't need the surgery. I mean I still hear people saying how hungry they are. THATS HOW I GOT OVER WEIGHT! :lovechoc: How does it change after having the lapband, if your still hungry and half to count calories and stuff? Does having the surgery give you the will power that you don't have befor it? My biggest reason for doing this is to get weight off so my knees and back stops hurtting enough for me to exercise more. But if I still have to do the whole calorie counting, food jurnals and hunger pains, what am I having this surgery for? Please someone HELP?
  5. Is your surgery date right? You lost that much in a month? Did you have any problems with skin? That is just awesome. You look great!
  6. All I had to do was go to the Dr. for 6 months to be weighed. I needed to lose 20lbs for them to submit my insurance. I only lost 15 and my insurance approved it.
  7. I have BC/BS PPO, I just got my approval letter Friday. I had to have a BMI of 40, and had to do a 6 month diet, and get approval from a heart, respiratory, and phyc. Dr. I also had to give them a copy of the last 5 years of being over weight. I had to lose 15lbs for approval. Im waiting for my surgery date. Its taken me 9 months to get here. I hope its all worth it.
