  1. I have trouble with anything except liquids in the morning. My band seems to prefer coffee until about 2 or 3 pm. Anyone else having the same problem?

    I threw up...Not a PB.

I had an episode of projectile vomiting and ended up with a huge hiatal hernia and I had to have hernia repair & band revision. I had PB'd before but nothing like the vomiting. I had been too tight and had been deflated a couple of times. Anyway, it wasn't pretty, and I will be more careful about all the signs that I was warned about.

    slipped band

My band has slipped and I'd appreciate any input from anyone that's had that happen to them. I'm supposed to stay on foods that I don't have to chew for 3 weeks and see if it corrects itself. I had a feeling that I have been too tight for a while and have been deflated twice, the last time I saw the doctor, he put in .5 cc and I thought I might be OK. I had some violent vomiting one afternoon and guess that might be the reason for the slippage. Share any info you have. Thanks

    slipped band

When I went in to the Dr. he could tell by looking at the fluoroscope as he was giving me a fill. I had gotten over the sick, throwing up deal the day before. i had been having a lot of trouble with reflux off and on for several weeks, though.

    Special K Protein Drinks?

I didn't care for the strawberry ones. I've not tried the other flavors.
  6. Hurrah for deflation! My band was too tight for several weeks-couldn't eat solids, couldn't drink my coffee,even-and had heartburn at night. I was losing well so I put it off and was miserable. Finally, I went in and had a little saline taken out and I am fine and still losing weight. Lesson learned.

    Band-friendly restaurants

Thanks for the good info. I was at Cracker Barrel this am and they very nice about me ordering off the kid's menu. I'm looking forward to going to the other places and getting a more reasonable portion. Maybe the waiters won't come by and ask me"Is everything alright?" if I don't look so overwhelmed at this giant plate of food! The bad part is, I could haven't eaten the WHOLE THING before my band. Unbelieveable!
  8. Do any you in the DFW area know which restaurants are band-friendly? I understand if it is against policy to let an adult order off the kids menu, but it sure would be nice to order small portions. I'm not crazy about taking food home and sometimes not in a position to do so. I would appreciate your input.
  9. I love to read your posts. You have the best ideas. I'm having so much trouble thinking of something that might even sound like something I might want to eat. My appetite certainly isn't what it used to be. Keep the good tips coming-I always learn something from you.

    Extreme coughing

Recently, I had an upper respiratory infection. While all the other symptoms subsided, a really bad cough hung around. I've coughed so hard that I really wondered if that could damage my band. At night I would have coughing fits and produce a lot of mucus. Yuck! Any input of how to handle this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Not liking foods after eating them

I know what you mean. I have a problem thinking of something that might taste good enough just to get the protein in. Fast food burgers are not even tempting-the meat consistency feels weird, besides tasting bad.

    Do you eat popcorn?

Never again! I had six pieces at the movies yesterday, chewed very well, and I burped popcorn all night and it's nearly noon the next day and I'm still having popcorn. I had a feeling when I ate it yesterday, that I might have a problem as I seem to be on a "problem eating " kick. Oh, well, experience is the best teacher.

    A bad experience

I've had a problem lately with Burping -forgive me for being graphic- in the middle of the night. All that comes up with the productive burp is mucus but seems like once it starts it takes forever to stop. Last night seems like I was burping and spitting, all night long. When there is no more mucus, there is just a loud horrible burp. Has anyone had anything like this?

    A bad experience

Thanks for the reply and congrats on your pregnancy! When I have a bout of this "excess mucus" I tend to just not eat anything and that's bad too. I hope I get my act together -I'm trying hard. I have always eaten fast and I'm really trying hard to eat at a snails pace and chew properly. I'm totally amazed at some things I hear that other people are able to eat-like sandwiches, chicken.etc. I'm 4 months out and I'm just not able to do that yet.

    A bad experience

Thanks for the input. Maybe I can put all these things together and figure out a solution. Wow! You have done an awesome job with weight lose. Congratulations!

    A bad experience

I'll try the meds earlier because I usually take them right at bedtime. After last night, I am ready to try most anything. Thanks

    A bad experience

Last night it was several hours after I had eaten anything. The only thing I did unusual was drink a couple of glasses of water right before bed since I didn't drink very much during the day.

    Dietician---6MONTHS???

My insurance required that I see a dietician for 4 months prior to my band. It has really helped me more than I ever thought it would. The band for me was kind of like bringing home my first child-Now that I have it-what do I do with it?
  20. I had my third fill about 10 days ago and the thought of food is a big turn-off. I felt the some way after the second fill. Even my coffee makes me want to gag and I'm only a person after adding coffee in the am. I wish I knew what to do about this. I know it sounds weird to be worried about my lack of appetite but it is bad and taking medicine is a problem. I guess this is all in my head and last time it got better after a while but I hate it !

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely check them out. My legs are leaving a lot to be desired.

Hungry/not hungry depends on the day

I think my problem with being able to eat vs not being able is all in my head. Maybe stress-I don't know as I'm pretty new to this new way of eating. Yesterday, everything that I thought about concerning food was a total turn off. I'm really trying to get this under control and somedays are better than others. I tried to eat some almonds and they were like eating wood chips and even yogurt didn't go down right. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Today, I'm doing better but this seems to happen for no reason.
  23. I was banded August 5 and had my first fill August 26. All went well, some restriction but still able to eat my 1/2 cup of food 3times a day. After my second fill on September 23, I have no appetite for food or drink. I'm having trouble drinking all the water that I need and I can't even stand to think about eating anything almost to the point of nausea. Has anyone had this problem? I'm worried that I'm not getting enough calories-That's a switch!

Help! No appetite after last fill.

Thanks so much for the replies. I'm soo much better today. Water, protein, small amount of food, and meds-not the problem it was yesterday. I am so glad because I was beginning to worry that I had a real problem going on. Good luck to all of you!
  25. The feeling of not being "overstuffed" is absolutely wonderful. I have to remember that, when I feel stressed and want some comfort food. But the benefit of being comfortable is so much better then being full to the max. I love my band!
