  1. OMG, you are coming to the West Coast!!!! Woohoo! Is OCC in Mexico?? And....we are going to be only one day apart! That is so exciting!
  2. Sooooo it looks like the polls are in! LUCKY LOSERS wins by one point!
  3. So the polls are in....LUCKY LOSERS won by ONE point! I still like March Melters better but I think we should go with the majority.
  4. I am so terribly sorry for your loss. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. God Bless.
  5. I had a little anxiety when I told my parents but they were so supportive and they are actually helping me pay for it since I'm a self-pay patient. I have been going to Overeaters Anonymous for about 6 months now to help with the head hunger issues that I have struggled with my whole life. The hardest part I have found in who to tell and who not to tell is my sponsor at OA. Even though there are quite a few people there that have already had WLS, it is kind of a taboo subject to have WLS after you have stopped the bingeing. I told her I'm going to be having hernia surgery so she knows that I won't be able to call her every day but I still feel bad for lying. I know it's my body and my decision but I just don't want to face her on this issue.
  6. I think you are right...I just wanted it cause I've heard so many others say they've had it. I think I'm just second guessing myself. I trust my Dr. completely and I really like him and his staff. Thanks for helping me put it in perspective!
  7. He does everything else, just not that. I had my endoscopy this past weekend and everything was fine in regards to hernias. I have all the other tests but just this one he doesn't do. I am thinking it's because I'm having it at a surgical center and they don't have an xray machine. Could I go somewhere else and have them do an xray through insurance?
  8. Should I be worried that my surgeon doesn't do this for any of his patients? When I asked he said...'we don't check by xray'. Does that mean he can check a different way? What should I do?
  9. I have to start my pre-op liquid diet on 3/1, only one week prior to my surgery. I definitely have the last supper syndrome. I am eating things that I would never have thought to buy/make because I'm afraid I won't be able to have it. I know that is not true and it's only in my head so I should really stop self-sabbotaging myself. It's only adding on weight I'm going to have to lose again.
  10. YAY!!! I am so glad you posted this my friend...I am so excited to go through this journey as well! I couldn't ask for a better support system!
  11. Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I'm being banded on 3/8/09. You should join us on the March 09 forum.
  12. Try this: Navigation »Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum > Lap-band Support Groups > Monthly Lap-band Support Groups > 2009 Bandsters > March 09 Bandsters » What is our name going to be?????
  13. I don't know if you have this or have thought about this but I borrowed from my 401k and with the help of my parents and some savings I am able to pay for it on my own. I do have to pay my 401k back on monthly installments at 4% but it was a lower interest rate than anything I saw. I know you are a student so I don't know if this would work but just another suggestion. Good luck, keep us posted!
  14. WOO HOO!!!!!!! I know I've already told you that but I'm so happy for you twin!
  15. Jerome, I do not feel that this is the appropriate place to be selling us your product. The nice part of lap band is we get to choose what we ingest...I don't feel that your snooping and soliciting on weight loss SUPPORT forums is necessary, respectful or wanted. You are entitled to your own opinion and you should exercise that opinion in Drs. offices and Vitamin shops. Please leave us to consult with our doctors, surgeons and other MEDICAL professionals. Thank you.
  16. Of course you get to vote! March Bandsters = March Voters! Congrats!!!!!!
  17. I tried the grape one this weekend and it was sooo nasty! I am going to stomach them because they have such a high amount of Protein but really they were gross. I haven't tried mixing them with anything yet but the aftertase is just terrible. Maybe I will learn to like them? I'm trying to stay positive!
  18. Yes, I haven't started my pre-op diet yet but it will most likely be all liquids! That is what mine is. Some doctors say lean Proteins and some veggies but it's all up to the doctor. My surgeon told me yesterday that I only have to be on pre-op liquids for 2-3 days prior but some people are up to 2-3 weeks. It all depends. I would just wait until you get the packet from your doctor but you most likely will start to lose weight during your pre-op phase. I hope that helps!
  19. Ok, so it wouldn't let me update the poll so I just say we go with March Melters then if anyone wants to put additional stuff on there they can. How does that sound?
  20. Hey everyone, I posted a poll on the March 09 folder under forum. I am going to go and try to add mini-marchers and March Maniacs. Please go vote!
  21. That was exactly my issue. I was at a BMI of 41 at the time I decided to look into surgery and then I got the devastating news...with my insurance I had to be at 40 or higher for at least 2 years if I had no co-morbidities. They would have accepted me if I had been DIAGNOSED with other issues. I have high blood pressure (yesterday was 160/106) but have never taken meds for it. I have had high blood sugar but the doctor always just told me to lose weight. I hit a wall every time and I just got tired of it. Who knows, don't let my story discourage you...your insurance might be different than mine. That is just my experience, it isn't law! I'm praying for you, let me know how it goes!
  22. We need a name. Here are the suggestions I've gotten. Let me know what you all think!
  23. YAY for us all. I'm March 8th!
  24. Fairydust/Bella, Have you ever thought about going to see a nutritionist? I think it would really help give you some ideas. I have been going to Overeaters Anonymous since September and it has put me in a really good place to get banded in March and not have to worry that my eating habits are going to be super out of whack. Again, this is just my experience but I really think they have helped. Also, what about a personal trainer at the gym? That might work.
  25. That's awesome! I don't know about you but I am so excited and nervous all at the same time. I'm making lists and counting down on the calendar and I'm just going kinda crazy. I have to get an endoscopy instead of an upper GI and I just scheduled that for 2/14...what a good way to spend Valentine's Day! Where are you having your surgery at? I am self paying cause insurance wouldn't approve me as I don't have any co-morbidities. It kinda sucks to have to pay that large amount of money but I know it will be well worth it and I can't wait!
