I was held captive by second thoughts. Lots of prayer, setting my goals and my dreams ahead of me gives me push to keep moving forward. My SG was done 10/11. I'm now, not who I was and am looking forward to discovering the new me...even at 63!

8 oz an hour is a lot! I get max 5 oz an hour. Great job!

I haven't really weighed myself yet. I told myself that when I'm feeling better and not swollen still I will.

    Scared but excited.

First: This is my concern with people going out of the country for any type of surgery. Cut and dump. They get their money and that's the end of your care. I am sure this is not the case with every surgeon but it isn't a rare occurrence either. Unfortunately that is the risk you take.
Second: Everyone is different and everyone stalls. Your body is in shock, and now you are eating a fraction of the calories it was used to before surgery. It basically goes into starvation mode and stores EVERYTHING it can until it realizes it is not actually starving and this is the new normal. Your body will adjust, the human body is quite amazing.
I lost like 12 lbs the first week and then nothing for like a month but then my body was like oh ok and I started dropping weight like crazy. (102 lbs in 6 months) I am currently in another stall and have lost 2 lbs in a few days shy of a month now. It does suck but it will pass.
The bottom line is if you have a calorie deficit you WILL lose weight. The surgery helps you be able to eat less, resulting in less calories.
Try to stay off the scale for a while, measure yourself and find other ways to see the results. Smaller clothes, non-scale victories, etc.
    be patient, you got this!

Stalls in the first few weeks, including week 1, are very common and to be expected. My doctor reassured me of that right away.
I can tell you that from my plan and in office nutritionist, we were told do not eat or drink anything that has more than 5-10 g of sugar in a sitting.
Maybe try swapping some of the carbs for Protein, as the body will try to use the carbs in lieu of stored fat for fuel if it can. My program recommends eating your protein, if still hungry, eat good green veggies, and then after that if you really need something, go for a low sugar fruit.

So I don't know what a pain contract is, but I can pretty much guess what it is. From what you described it sounds like the doctor treated you like a drug seeker, which is frustrating and hard to get physicians and other medical personnel to not assume.
I would report to hospital administration to reflect the experience you had. If you go back for dehydration and encounter the same type of treatment, you can ask why you are being denied adequate care.
I went through this during my pregnancy and it took a surgeon to call screaming to get my ob/gyn to finally give me nutritional support.

Maybe your mom could drive you and your daughter there and keep an eye on her while you get fluids. That would make the most sense, if she's willing.

Hi all!! Just had my SG done on 10/11. I was able to lose 12lbs prior to my surgery and have since dropped 10 more. Currently eating pureed cauliflower, peas, carrots and celery mixed together and using low sodium chicken gravy to help "soup" it up some 3x a day (About ¼ cup ea. time). In-between I drink 8oz of Protein whey isolate or Chicken / vegetable stock (mixed) hourly. My "before 730pm" treat is sugar-free Jello. So far so good.

Congrats to all my October buddies. My surgery date is October 3rd. I started my pre-op liquid diet yesterday and it seems surprisingly easy. I do wonder how I will feel about it next week though. I am isolated in my daily life. I am over 50, single with no kids at home or nearby, I work from home and live in a suburban area that is mostly made up of families and traveling plant workers and I don't know anyone - no support system in place. Who else is going through this completely alone? I am arranging paid transportation to the med center and a paid medical transport to bring me home following the procedure. For those of you who have had to go through this by yourself, did you feel able to manage alone post-op? What was the most difficult thing?

my husband wanted to do a “food tour” with me to eat all the things that I wouldn’t be able to eat in quantity after surgery… I actually turned him down because I just didn’t feel the need. I totally see why people would, however!!! (Different diets/ mindsets/ approaches are all good because people are different and that should be embraced.)
Its amazing to me how my mindset has changed this year. I knew from my binge history nothing could be taboo or not available to me, but I could make a choice about quantity, frequency and speed of eating. That empowering thought has helped a LOT to overcome a lot of my binging and overeating issues.
I feel so ready for the body changes that will come after surgery and continuing surgery to change my lifestyle to achieve my goals. (now, changes to my relationship…ugh.. that’s a different thread lol)

October is a month of life changing experiences for us all. Feeling nervous, having second thoughts, eating all our favs prior to commencement, is what's going through all our minds. We are all on a journey to better our health, prolong our life & most of all feel good about ourselves. We've got this. Prayers for us all.

Mine is scheduled for October 11th.

I don't eat fast food (too expensive), or drink. I've been doing ok with my diet. I lost 14 lbs but then gained 2.

I'm scared about the surgery, and feel unprepared.
