Thank you for all the updates. I have stalled out and plateaued too many times and I often feel very discouraged. I am not losing very quickly, though I am down to 225 from a presurgery high of 285.
Congrats of your weightloss and keep up your hard work

NP_WIP reacted to catwoman7 in My doc gave me a restaurant discount card
we were offered them, but I didn't take one. Here, the card said you could order off the kids' menu since you'd had bariatric surgery. The thing is, most items on kids' menus are either awful or not bariatric-friendly (e.g., chicken nuggets, hotdogs, PB&J sandwiches). No thanks. When we went out (at least when I was fairly early out - I can eat most things now), I'd just order an appetizer (like shrimp cocktail) or a bowl of Soup. Also, keep in mind that although some restaurants will honor the cards, others won't - and they're under no obligation to do so.

BP medicine down from 10mg preop to 2.5mg, PCP admitted she will keep me on it because when I'm at the office it spikes but my records are all below 110/70, hoping to have it removed at my 3 month follow up.

NP_WIP got a reaction from PRRNThickChick in Period changes post VSG
Prior to surgery I did not have a period for almost 9 months with no birth control. One week prior to surgery my PCP was referring me to an Endo to see if I had PCOS, but I decided to wait until post op.
Once I hit one month post op, I got my period and have had it ever since. Sometimes 2x per month, I thought it was the hormones which in part it is, but because I take the mini pill, if I do not take it within the same 1hr window daily, I get my period a few days after and my usual cycle.
We were advised to use contraceptive because fertility definitely increases after surgery.

Freeze-dried fruits instead of dried fruits might do you well. Freeze dried strawberries have a nice crunchy texture, but there's nothing to them but air. No added sugar like regular dried fruit, which is basically candy.

I took chewable vitamins the first couple of months - are those available in Japan?
also, you WILL lose muscle. As we lose weight, we lose not only fat, but also bone and muscle. It's OK to lose some of it - we need a lot of "infrastructure" to hold up our excess weight, and once we lose the weight, we don't need as much of that anymore. But the goal is to not lose TOO MUCH muscle. This is one of the reasons we're supposed to eat a lot of Protein - to keep us from losing too much muscle.

Soft/pureed for me was one period, so I had chilli, ground chicken, ricotta bake, refried Beans, crab salad, thick Soups, greek yogurt etc.
That hurt feeling could well be your restriction, since you are only a few weeks out it takes sometimes to recognize your body's new way of letting you know when full, hungry etc.
Regarding the saltine cracker, it is not the end of the world I think most of us during the first few months want to test our stomachs. But I will invite you to think what made you do it and see if its an urge you can control. Right now everything seems easier after surgery while your body is adjusting but down the line the process and its results are going to be based on your effort and how well you follow your plan.

whey Protein instantly cooks when you mix it with something hot. You have to wait until it cools down a bit to mix it in. You can try mixing before you cook and stir as you cook it.

    👆🏼Full. Stop.
I had Hair loss (now my hair is flowy, full and fab at 4.5+ years post op).
I had regular foamies, still do on the rare occasion, when i eat too fast or too much...but thats my own fault.
I would dump, again my own fault, by consuming too much sugar...so i try not to do that.
I had nighttime reflux, now controlled by going to bed on empty stomach, and taking the lowest dosage anti-reflux med.
No more HBP nor cholesterol pills. No longer pre-diabetic. My liver is normal sized. My joints don't hurt. My feet nor back don't hurt. I am no longer always catching my breath.
I am the fittest and healthiest i have been since my 20's (im 50 now).
I have the confidence of a stuck up, the patience/chill of a zen master, and the energy of someone half my age.
I am often front and centre in pictures (if i can help it lol.)
I eat whatever i want (mind u what i want is sorta different now), in smaller quantities, and am perfectly happy with it.
    Life. Is. Good.
    So yeah, pros > cons.
    Good Luck! ❤️

We call this kind of vomiting the 'foamies' - You have either eaten too quickly, eaten too dry a food, eaten too much or your stomach is not ready for this food yet. [ or sometimes I get a something like a piece of Tomato skin stuck] Our tiny stomachs have the same amount of acid in as before so it causes plenty of problems, especially when you have eaten nothing. It could be that this is causing your bowels problems too
Until you get your docs appointment, you need to calm this devil stomach. Go back to basics. I can not eat potato and It took me 12 months to master chicken. My basics would be yogurt, milk, cheese and tinned Soups. I hope you get your appointment soon
