Five months in and today officially hit Onederland!!!! I never thought it would happen. I have not seen a 1 in front of my weight in the past 10+ years! I am 5 months out and 70 lbs down now. I’ve had multiple stalls and lots of frustration, but am hoping to continue to get closer to “overweight” on the BMI scale in the next month or two. Reading these posts, I’m so proud of how far all of us have come :)

My goal was to lose 63 pounds in the first year, but I've already lost 54. I'm 8 pounds away from getting into the healthy BMI range. (I should tell you I'm 5'2" and a small frame, my surgery weight was 198.) It's slowing down but not stopping, like 10ths of pounds at a time. I'd like to eventually lose about 20 pounds from where I am now.
It blows me away that if you met me now you would just see me as an average woman who could lose a few pounds, but certainly not as an obese or even particularly overweight person.

Hi Everyone! I don't post often, but I keep up reading this thread! I had my major goal reached this morning and I don't have anyone other than my partner to share this news with...but I reached ONEderland this morning! I can't believe it!

Same here. I lost three pounds last month. Three! I feel like I’m losing inches though. I think the three pounds was all of the hair I’ve been losing! Here’s to ending the stall in 2023!

I stalled out this past week too. I started researching and read stalls are common around the 3 month mark. I feel your pain. Especially when you feel like you are doing everything you are supposed to be doing. It’s so frustrating!

I just hit 50.5 pounds lost total, 36.4 since my bypass. I feel like my weight loss is slow but oh well. Nausea is finally waning and zero dumping! My taste buds have changed dramatically and I crave savory foods over sweet. My labs are great and my A1C is 5.1. It’s never been that low! Feeling pretty good!

I’m at 7 weeks, 40 lbs down since starting my pre-op diet and 26 lbs since surgery. Finding it tough to hit the fluid/protein goals. Restriction is no joke. My doctor encouraged me to exercise as much as possible. I feel like I’m perpetually dehydrated. Hope everyone else is doing great!

Oh bummer. I haven’t brushed my hair in a few years.
it’s short and curly. So I’m not sure if I’m going to notice.
it’s been 5 1/2 weeks now and I can finally transition to sloppy/purée foods.
    yay for me.

21 lbs since surgery is awesome! I also had VSG on the 25th and I’m only down 12 since surgery. That includes a random gain after I added in semi-solid food, so I am still up from my lowest. I can tell that I have been retaining Water. Not only do I see it, but I could tell with drinking and not going to the bathroom. I have been desperate for answers and what I have read is that you spend most of your first month dehydrated, even if you are getting in fluids. That a portion of the weight loss is water and that sometime during the first month your body makes an adjustment to rebalance Fluid levels, causing a stall or gain and that eventually this works itself out. I went for a big jog thinking I would help myself and the next day I was not only sore, but 3+ up on the scale lol Now I’m just trying to drink as much as I can and trying to convince myself that there is no way you can gain fat weight from an average 600 calories a day!

Okay Y’all. I am 6 weeks post op. It started probably Sunday? I have been down right sick about food. I have no appetite I cant hardly eat or drink. I know im not getting my Protein in or Water intake. I wake up out of sleep at 5am gagging and will throw up bile but I cant eat anything because the thought of it makes me throw up. When I do Eat im either nauseous or I end up vomiting.

anyone know what could be happening??? Will it pass?? I am depressed over this.

I had my bypass the 23rd. I've been stalled, too, so frustrating, but I'm down 20 lbs. Sure doesn't look like it, though

Hi everyone! I had my VSG surgery on August 25th. Everything has been going pretty well so far. I have been stalled for the past 2 weeks, but hopefully the scale will move soon. So far, I am down 21 lbs since surgery.

I’m so sorry you’ve been having a tough time too! I know we have no choice but to hang in and stay the course. Nothing but time here to use our tool and work on ourselves. It doesn’t mean that we can’t feel frustrated at times though. I hope that we can all vent to and learn from each other in this crazy situation. Our bodies have been through a lot in a short time and I forget that at times. We are still better off than when we started and hopefully on the road to better health!

Officially at 1 month out today. The last week has been a mess. Up and down (mostly up) 2-3 lbs from my lightest weight this month. Recently transitioned into soft foods the last few days, per my doctor’s orders. He basically doubled every stage, which was also frustrating. I know there is a lot of talk about week 3/4 stalls. Just feeling so discouraged to see a gain when the calories are still very low. It’s hard not to be frustrated and sad. I have spent the last year watching accounts on Instagram where women have described weight just melting off every week. I knew I was always a slower loser, but I thought this procedure would be a game changer. Anyone else feeling like this?

I just hit my first real stall at one month post-op. I had asked my husband to hide the scale so I wouldn't obsess and only weigh weekly. Got on the scale Saturday and I hadn't lost a single ounce from the previous week. I was expecting 3-5 lbs. So discouraged.

I'm feeling EXACTLY this way. Even worse since I was told this week to weigh myself every 3 days, not good for my mental health! I weighed myself this morning, swore I wouldn't be upset, yet still was crying and I'm still so upset 3 hours later.
I also thought this surgery would change my slow loser status. I gobbled up the success stories and thought, hey maybe THIS time I'll be one of those successes! Nope! I'm doing the math, pre-op I was told I should expect to lose 125 my first year. Unless I suddenly start losing a steady 3 lbs a week, which I haven't done so far...there's no way I'll hit that. I wanted to lose 160 lbs, and if I can't lose it in the first year it's extremely difficult, yet it's ALREADY so difficult...I just don't see how realistic reaching my goal is. I'm already drinking my Water, getting my Protein, exercising 6 days a week 40-60 minutes. Weighing and measuring my food, tracking everything that passes my lips, following every single instruction I've been given.
There's nothing I can do more, I really think I'm only going to weigh myself monthly or every 2 weeks. Every weigh-in is so traumatic, telling me I'm failing AGAIN, I'll never be one of those success stories. I'm not going to quit, but I don't know how to adjust my expectations. Every time I swear I'm going to feel ok about whatever the scale says, but I'm not. When not weighing myself I feel good about my progress. I'm stymied on how to handle this.
So yes, I understand how you feel.
