  1. I wasn’t think about SIBO. Thank You! I will ask about that if the tests don’t show anything. It’s all in the upper area of the abdomen too with the bloating. I have never had a colonoscopy but did have the egd. I heard the prep is a nightmare.
  2. I really started noticing some bloating around middle part of October, which was after my appointment I had in September. I figured it was diet and I cut out the cucumbers and it took it down some of the bloat but not all the way. Then the tenderness started shortly after starting the Woman’s Probiotic. At first I thought since I increased my strength training at the gym at the same time that I was just sore and it would go away. Since then it just seems like it’s gotten a little more tender. I’m stumped too. The Nurse Practitioner wants to put it on gallbladder but I have a feeling it will get the same results as I had 10 yrs ago when I did the ultrasound and hida scan on it. I understand they have to go up the ladder on the testing to rule things out too. It’s just frustrating. I do know if the pain gets worse or new symptoms pop up to call weight management or go to the ER. I have been having soft formed peanut butter colored bowel movements and still do the 2 colace daily and the miralax once daily. If not I slow down and it turns into the kind of bowel movement the first one after surgery was aka what I call horse size poop. I don’t know if that helps with anything or not. 🤷🏼‍♀️
  3. Hello All, On Friday I had my 1 year post op appointment at Weight Management. Last time I was there was for my 6 month visit. Between the 6 month and the 1 year visit, I started noticing upper abdominal bloating (usually in the morning I notice after 1st waking up it doesn't look of feel too bad but it still seems like its still there but by the end of the day, I feel and look like I am 6 months pregnant.) some tenderness and occasional pain in the upper right abdomen from the middle area up into the ribs and side sometimes back. Also occasional nausea but I attributed to dumping syndrome. I told the Nurse Practitioner about it and the first thing she asked me was if I still had my gallbladder. I told her yes that I was the only adult (at almost 40) in my family that still had theirs. (Back about 10 years ago I was having pain in that area but labs, ultrasound and hida scan all came back normal.) So the Nurse Practitioner ordered my yearly labs, also is wanting a ultrasound and possible hida scan. She said if those came back normal the Dr will most likely want to do a EDG and possibly a colonoscopy. I was just wondering if anyone else here on the board had this issue in the past or currently dealing with it and what the outcome of it was?

    Curious About Post-Op Days

The first two weeks after my bypass I was a little sore. I do have a higher pain tolerance so all I needed was over the counter Tylenol. I think I was having a hard time not being able to lift and hold my 3-year-old. That lasted for about 6 weeks. The tenderness seemed to go away between the 6-8 weeks mark. By the 2nd week I was trying not to overdo it. By 3-4 weeks I got this burst of energy. I found that it was very helpful to wear the binder when I was up and moving around. I still from time to time use it and I am 4 months post op. The first big poo is a nightmare that no one at the drs office tells you about. I literally birthed a horse pellet 3 times in the first 8 weeks. I found taking a dose of miralax daily and 2 Colace a day has helped with getting hard stools. This was told to me ok to do by the nurses from Weight Management as well as the Surgeon. But walk as much as you can as soon as the nursing staff let you get up. It helps a bunch.
  5. Hello All, I had my bypass on Valentines Day this year. So, I'm roughly 4 months post op. Prior to my surgery I was taking Wellbutrin 100mg 3 times a day. I haven't had any weight gaining issues with this medication. It actually had been helping me not want to overeat a bunch. Recently my Dr decided to add Zoloft 50mg daily in addition to my Wellbutrin. I haven't started taking it yet because I am having mixed feelings about it. I know I need something to help with the irritability I've had an increase within addition to what I am taking now. I do trust my Dr and him saying that he thinks that I am a good candidate for the medication, and he hasn't seen any weight issues ect, I am though however terrified if I start taking this medicine, I will start gaining weight back. So, my question is those who have been on this medication, did you have any side effects and or weight gain with this medication? And if so, how much weight did it cause you to gain back?

    Brain Fog after RYGB Surgery

I was wondering if that could have been the issue. I also had to get 2 bags of magnesium before discharge as well as something to replace phosphorus levels. I spoke with the Dietician and she asked if I had been drinking a Gatorade a day and I said no. She suggested me drinking one to see if that helped. I got through half a 20 oz and alot of the brain fog went away.

    Brain Fog after RYGB Surgery

Thank You Tek. That didn't even cross my mind. Does it get better once puree and soft foods are entered back into the diet?
  8. Hello All, I had my RYGB surgery on 2/14/23. I am just wondering if anyone else had or has issues with brain fog since surgery? If so how long did it last? The only thing I am taking is OTC Tylenol, my bariatric vitamin, Wellbutrin, Colace, Phillips colon health and just started the actigall today. I am also getting 62+ ozs of liquids in me daily since Sunday.

    Just had surgery 2/14

I was able to poop on the 15th,16th and 17th. No luck yesterday and so far today, nothing. I started my Colace that I was prescribed last night so hopefully that will help. I am getting my fluid in as well. I have found if I drink to fast or to much at once, my stomach will start to hurt.

    Just had surgery 2/14

The only time I wore it overnight was when I was in the hospital. I was told by my surgeon that I didn’t need to wear it at night if I didn’t want to. She did tell me that I needed to wear it during the day while up and moving around. And she was fine with me taking it off if I needed to nap or for a break.

Any Feb surgery peeps out there?

Bypass on 2/14. Keeping up with what the fluid intake paper on how much to drink per hour/day has had its moments.

    Just had surgery 2/14

I had my surgery on Valentine's Day as well. I am finding wearing the abdominal binder through the day is helping a bunch with the pain. I do still feel like I have a bunch of gas in me though.
