Jeanniebug got a reaction from buildabetteranna in Light headed and clammy
If you're worried about your blood sugar, get a glucometer and test yourself. Consuming some Protein will bring up your blood sugar in a few minutes.
As @Arabesque said, your body is going through a lot of changes and it can cause weakness.
I, too, had bouts (and still do) of low blood pressure. We just have to keep an eye on it, but they're not doing anything to treat it. If you think this might be a concern, you can also get a blood pressure cuff and keep an eye on it at home.
I am also now hypoglycemic. I keep Protein Shakes on hand to help treat my low sugar episodes.
If you're taking any medications to treat your prediabetes, or any blood pressure issues, they might need to adjust your dosages.

Always best to talk with your surgeon but did think hypoglycemia when I saw your post title. Reactive hypoglycemia is a form of dumping too. Low blood pressure can also cause light headedness. The fact you’re eating so little at the moment that you feel weak. Plus you’ve just a pretty major surgery which is stressful to your body. But definitely speak with your surgeon to be sure and ti find out ways to manage it.
PS - Try an electrolyte drink. I used to take one with me whenever I was going to be a bit more active (even grocery shopping) and when I started back at work to offset the hypoglycemic episodes. Sip some if I thought it might happen & when it happened. Seems crazy but sometimes a cup of green tea helped though I think it was more to do with the fluids which may be why the sugar free popsicle helps you. I had had hypoglycaemic episodes prior to my surgery but not often. After my surgery I had them frequently. Also my tendency towards drops in blood pressure became a multiple times a day experience. All just how my body reacted.

Jeanniebug got a reaction from Jalapeño in Weight regain
Congratulations on your amazing weight loss!
Substance abuse (no matter the substance, alcohol, drugs, food, sex, whatever) is just a symptom of an inner problem. Our problem isn't food, it's our minds.
My therapist knows that we're working together because I have food issues. But, we have hardly talked about my eating, at all. We've talked about all the other garbage that needs to be worked on, in order to be able to change my relationship with my drug of choice - food.
It has been a very interesting experience, working with a therapist. And I know that the hardest work we will do, is yet to come. I started talking to him before my surgery, because I knew that I was really going to need his help after surgery. After my surgical sites heal, the real work will begin.
It's a grand adventure!

Ran into an old coworker earlier today and she didn't even recognize me! We worked together for over 6 years and it's only been maybe a year and a half since she last saw me.

Jeanniebug got a reaction from Possum220 in When the honeymoon is over
I worked with a therapist beginning about a month and a half before surgery, until I was over a year out. I just recently stopped seeing him. I'm still struggling with this.
At my initial consultation, my surgeon told me that obesity likes to come back. That a lot of patients end up needing to go on medications, after the surgery, due to weight regain.
For some of us, this is going to be a lifelong struggle, I'm afraid.

Thanks for the hug @summerseeker I very much appreciate the hug. Hugs are so much better than food.
@catwoman7 I have tried Trulicity (same as Ozempic) some time ago. I had serious side effects and couldnt continue on it. But that doesnt mean that I cant ask my doctor about any other options.
@BigZ- I do believe I need to see a psychologist/therapist. i have an appointment with a dietician tomorrow. Maybe they can point me in the right direction to the right person.
@NickelChip I took your advice and weighed myself this morning. I will face 2.7 kg. So much easier to face this gain than trying to ignore a much bigger gain. I went for a walk for 30 minutes. @BigSueI will check out the podcast.
I really appreciate ALL the responses. There are some really wise words in all this. @ChunkCat @Arabesque @Jeanniebug This is a journey that really doesnt end hey? I need to take care of myself in a good way. The self talk is something that I have always struggled with too. The honeymoon might be over but I determine where this marriage is headed.
If it has to be a lifelong struggle then I would rather do it without all that extra padding. I am not giving up without a fight. I will be coming back to this page to pick more gems. Thankyou.

Jeanniebug reacted to Possum220 in When the honeymoon is over
I had heard about the honeymoon period at the start of it all. Didnt really think much about it at the time. But this has smacked me hard. The honey moon period is well and truly over. Reality is kicking back in. I had the RNY back in May 22. Since then I have lost 60 kg or 132 pounds. I had Covid for Christmas. I have managed depression and anxiety for decades now. In the last month my anxiety and depression have flared up something chronic and I am stuffing food into me as if I had never had the bypass.
I am loathe to weigh myself and I can feel my body change again. Food addiction is real and I am terrified that I am going to regain all the weight I had lost. I dont want to be trapped in my own body again. I want my muscles to be strong. I dont want the panic attacks to dominate me again. Right now I feel distended and hopeless.
Has anybody else tackled this point. I dont want to be overtaken by a Tsunami of food and shame and guilt. Who eats food off the floor? Who eats food out of a bin? I want the control back. Is it too late now that the honeymoon is over. Has anybody else tackled this time and won? Anybody? Anywhere?

Jeanniebug got a reaction from BigZ in Heart palpitations
If you were going to die, it wouldn't be "borderline". 😊 And it's worth noting that weight loss surgery tends to raise these levels for the first week after surgery. So that test is not definitive.

Hi Hayley, welcome! I agree with BigZ... Call your doctor. I have a heart arrhythmia and it's scary, but not actually life threatening. Yours might be the same. So, try not to worry, but you definitely want to get checked out. Better safe than sorry.

Go see your Dr ASAP, don't forum this. Go get an ECG done. You may have AFIB, or it could be something else. If it happens consistently there could be a big issue, if it is just a once in a great while thing it may be ok. I went into AFIB for over 24 hours a year ago. It happened one time, and hasn't happened since, and by the time I got to the Dr it was cleared up. If you have a newer fitbit they have the ECG app, when you are feeling the palpitations run a check. But make an appt with your Dr and/or see a cardiologist. However, it is normal to feel a missed beat or something on occasion, but nothing that lasts for even 10 minutes.

Jeanniebug got a reaction from Sumayab in Ever changing bra size
I wasn't able to wear a bra for a few months. The ones I wore had to be way too big, because I couldn't handle anything putting pressure on my diaphragm. It still bothers me, but it's getting much better. It's really only been in the last month or so that I've been able to wear bras that fit properly. Oddly enough, in some brands I'm now a C and in others I think I might be a B.

Just this week I took a trip and I actually had extra in my seatbelt on the plane (it used to he maxed)! (shhh don't tell my bariatric surgeon we're not supposed to travel for a minimum of 90 days per his office - I was a week short).

Went out to dinner with my parents last night for my dad's birthday. This was the first time since I had my surgery that I had gone to a sit-down restaurant and for the first time in several years I was able to sit comfortably in a booth!
