  1. You are hiring the doctor to do a job for you. So far he has not done enough to help you. You are the one who should be upset with him, not the other way around. Never let a doctor intimidate you. They sometimes think they are gods, but they are just people with a certain skill set.
  2. I am sensitive to the whey and had explosive visits to the bathroom. I lose without protein drinks and get 70 - 90 protein grams each day. It is harder to do it this way but worth it. The non fat or low fat Greek yogurt helps.
  3. My doc said to use the frozen low cal meals because they are good for portion size and will train your eye and tummy to accept a normal amount of food. As for feeling guilty, I maintain that guilt should be reserved for things that are morally wrong. Therefore I never feel guilty. It is very liberating! That said, it seems like you should follow doctor's orders and, yes, they are all different. Good luck.
  4. I track the following: calories < 1300 Protein > 70 fat < 43 Fiber > 15 This works for me and I am losing. I do not track carbs. as I am not eating any thing that is not whole grain. It is hard to get all the protein and balance the rest. Good luck.
  5. I found that in the liquid and soft stages I just told people I was having dental work done. You can have milk with your own powder shake added and juices or cream Soups. In the soft stage I would order a scoop of egg salad, mashed potaotes, or cottage cheese. Later, although you are eating less, no one notices. Good luck.
  6. Self pay $14,500 plus $1000 for lifetime fills. Dr. H. Billy in Ventura CA. Would pay double, or more, since I am so happy.
  7. I just can't eat applesauce anymore. Planning on trying it again in a few months.
  8. Mine was from a sensitivity to the whey protein and milk. When I stopped that (went to soy milk) it all stopped.
  9. I look at it this way: Without the surgery what would I have gained in the same time period? Then I smile and go on my way. A slow steady loss is great.
  10. Everyone is different and the changes you experience will not be like mine. Also, time improves everything so if you can't eat something 6 weeks out you will want to try it again, say in 6 months. The list of what you can not eat will be small compared to all you will gain. Good luck
  11. You will be fine. Just look on this site for answers to your questions (always defer to your doc, of course). I made it through the first few weeks with by reading about others experiences. My surgery went like this: Go in 8:00 am, into surgery at 9:00, waking up 10:30 and out by 11:00. Very easy. Just take it easy untill your body tells you it is time to get moving. Follow doc's eating orders and smile, for you will be eating like a "normal" person soon. Good luck
  12. I started slowly then realized that I was still eating mostly soft foods. So I went to a pretty normal diet and have only had a few problems, mostly when I eat out and am paying less attention to how fast I eat. I find I have the most problem with fruit, of all things. Good luck.
  13. Mine was free. Self pay $14,500.
  14. Joined WW about 5 years ago and lost 50 pounds. Put 20 back on before being banded. I am staying to earn my lifetime (worked hard for that). Then I can go just once a month to keep me accountable. I think the points are good so you don't eat too high of fat content with all the Protein required. My nutritionist requires a detail of food eaten with calories, fat, protein and carbs. I add Fiber and points so it is a really detailed accounting. As tired as I am of tracking it is a helpful tool. I am hoping for the day when I can just eat and not worry about it. Until that day I track! Good luck to you
  15. When my husband does something like that I just look in the trash can! I see he emptied it the night before. Then I look at my car, which he washes for me. Then I look at the checking account, which he puts his check in each payday. I decided long ago that we each express our love in different ways. It is better to find, and honor, the way he expresses his love then to try to force him into doing things that simply are not him. And, I am much happier for it!
  16. I agree to call your doctor. That's what you pay him/her for. I find that I feel that way if I hurt the pouch by eating too much or just a reintroduced food. It might just be the transistion to pureed foods. Call your doc.
  17. I am only down about 11 pounds (July22 bander) but I am only eating about 1200 calories a day. I just figure that my body needs time to adjust. I was always slow! I am eating way less than before so it will have to show up sometime.
  18. Yes. I can't eat applesauce (go figure) and have trouble with some other fruits. Grapes are okay, melons not so good. I think this will change later as it is still early in the banding process. Good luck
  19. $14,500 for surgery, $1000 lifetime fills, about $1000 for additional medical tests Dr. Billy, Ventura, CA
  20. When I was allowed to start eating real food I decided to only eat one portion at a time. I also told myself that I could have more if I wanted to. The result was that one portion (looked so small) was more than enough. It filled me up and I was happy. Now I always just serve myself one portion (as described on lable or in nutrition info). I weigh and measure everything still but I am developing an eye for size. Good luck and no, you do not need to puree eggs.
  21. I would never tell my x husband (note the x) how much I weighed because I knew he had issues with it. Finally, after he prodded over and over I told him the truth, I weighted 150 (would love that now). He went on and on that if I wasn't going to tell him I shouldn't make up some really high number. What a jerk. Fast forward: told new husband while dating what my weight was and my problems with it. He loves me no matter what. What a guy!
  22. Crackers, no special type, were listed in my mushie food stage. Just stick to one serving and you should be okay.
  23. Sorry, the web site did not come out right. www.nutritiondata.com
  24. Are you tracking your food? Writing down and calculating your calories, fat and Protein will help you determine what you need to do next. Cut by 200 a day however many calories you are currently eating. Don't fudge (no joke intended!) your intake and use the web to figure out the counts. Here is a good site to use: Nutrition facts, calories in food, labels, nutritional information and analysis – NutritionData.com I know you have the band to help eliminate the need to do this. But tracking is about the only thing you can do to figure out why you are not losing. Good luck.
