  1. I’m only taking 3 days off. I work from home & my manager is really flexible with health issues after having knee surgery himself so he’s given me the ok to take as much rest time as i need during the day.
  2. This is really for the ladies… Anyone have their pre-op liquid diet bump right up against the days leading up to their menses? After losing all week, i seem to have gone up a pound and just by how my body feels, i can tell it’s that pre-start water retention. My surgery isn’t until the 16th but I’m just trying not to freak out about stalling after losing eight pounds in 5 days. I’m going to try upping my walking, diluting the broth with water to reduce sodium, and not have anxiety over all of this.
  3. This doesn't make any sense. If it's BMI based, then those who have higher BMIs would have liquid diets but you contradicted that statement. My surgeon stated it's based on preference and also where you are having the surgery. My surgeon is performing my surgery in a Circle of Excellence (COE) hospital that requires the two week liquid diet because it has shown better outcomes, reduced surgery time, and less complications. Another hospital system that has their own bariatric program in my state does a one week liquid diet after a week of low calorie, low carb meals with lean protein. Like any other medical procedure, the pre-op isn't always a one size fits all.
  4. Ten days away! May 16th and I am SUPER excited. I haven't had too many issues with the liquid and protein shake diet. I'm allowed one egg a day, one serving of non fat Greek yogurt, and one 8 ounce glass of 1% or unsweetened almond milk. I did cheat last night and had one bite of steak from my husband's steak fajitas he made, but so far so good! I had pre-surgical bloodwork done yesterday and the results show that my glucose and A1C are nearly out of the pre-diabetic range so I am SUPER excited about that and really motivated to continue. Best of luck to all! ?
