  1. I've had a polar for 4 years now. The new straps are bluetooth and work much better. I bought a Polar H7 to replace my old strap and transmitter. I always had the same issues you're having but the new transmitters are so much better. If you have a smart phone, tie in the transmitter with your phone with the Polar app. http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/polar-h7-transmitter.html Check it out?
  2. food addiction is real. People will find a way to sabotage their own success to get what they think they want or need. Also, advice coming from a spouse or relative can be hard to swallow(pun intended) for some reason. Let's hope his surgeon can talk some sense into him? tmf
  3. I see you are new here so don't take this the wrong way but you've hijacked this thread. Hi-Jack meaning that someone started their own topic and you are taking it in your own direction? Not a bad faux pas but if you want a response you should start your own topic so that more people see it and you'll get more responses. I think most of us are guilty of doing this at some point but I'm just offering advice so you get more help. To answer your question, Hely is right, don't vomit, you can ruin your band if you do so. The foods you're eating won't give you the satiety you need to be successful. They're all slider foods. Here's a link to a variety of videos that will inform you better about what you should eat, drink and how this band thing works. You might want to set aside an hour to watch every one of them? Good luck. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/166857-the-eight-golden-rules-lap-band-videos-by-dr-paul-obrien/#entry1960883
  4. See your doc or nutritionist. tmf
  5. You could be in "Bandster Hell"? Hope a fill helps but it didn't for me. Took 4 fills to finally leave BH behind.
  6. Not me. Fills cause the band to tighten around the stomach causing temporary inflammation which also makes the stoma much smaller.
  7. I had a similar experience back in June. I felt like I was in the green zone and was losing weight but I got stuck a lot. So, I had a small unfill and I've been too open ever since. I have not lost a lb since August. I think I've learned to eat smaller and slower now so I'm going for another fill soon. tmf
  8. It depends on what "everything else" is? What food is getting stuck and are you throwing up or mildly regurgitating food from your esophogus(PBing)? Can you eat slider foods like Soup, chips, Cookies? You're probably a little too tight but this is the phase where you need to learn to eat slow, chew big and eat very small bites. It's one of the most difficult things to conquer with the band. tmf
  9. Are you sure your doctor cleared you to eat normal foods already? You could damage the sutures stitching your stomach around the band by eating too much and eating solids at this point? And full is not what you should be looking for. Satiety is the goal. See all videos here: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/166857-the-eight-golden-rules-lap-band-videos-by-dr-paul-obrien/page__hl__alex#entry1962873
  10. It definitely sounds like you aren't eating small bites and chewing properly. I know you think you are but doesn't sound like it. I too thought I was eating right but now know I wasn't. If soups or slider foods are OK with the band then you're not eating small bites and slowly chewing to mush. I can eat chicken if I do this. If I try to eat too big and too fast, I'll get stuck too. Some people cannot eat toast in any form.
  11. Non scale Victory It's like finding an old pair of jeans that you haven't worn for years and they fit. tmf
  12. Wow, this gives a new meaning to the phrase, "Don't crap where you eat". Do you alienate your husband by tattling to his doctor or nag him till he leaves you or let him harm himself with a slip or erosion? Hmmm? If he starts to vomit, PB a lot, stop losing weight or experience pain, I would tattle. But you should let him know you're going to tattle. If he continues to lose weight it's hard to argue with success though? Still, his over all health is the most important isn't it? tmf
  13. I'm the cook in the house and I did the same as your wife. Two kids, not finishing tater tots, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese etc. Someone had to eat that crap right? Throw it away!
  14. Like B52 said, people use vomit incorrectly here all the time. Vomit: Violent rejection of food in lower stomach. Full blown heaving where the stomach convulses and shoots food out your mouth. PB: Productive Burp...This is where we mildly regurgitate food that has not passed through the band to the lower stomach. Still not something we want to be doing but is much less harmful than a outright vomit. Usually a sign we've eaten too quick, too much or failed to chew properly. Which is it?
  15. 40 lbs is a lot. You're doing great. Speak to your nutritionist.
  16. Vomitting over a long(or short) period of time can cause your band to slip. Even though you have a pouch and a lower stomach, they are still one organ. Vomitting causes your stomach to convulse violently to eject food in your lower stomach. This can rip the sutures holding the band in place away. Your band can then migrate up or down. PB'ing is a different story. "Does vomiting actually make the band tighten?" Every time you get stuck or vomit you're stomach lining presses hard against the band. The band does not tighten but the lining in your stomach can swell from the trauma of vomitting in the band area. The swelling makes the stoma smaller, i.e. extra tightness. tmf
  17. It happens to many of us. I'm over a year out and I was stuck at lunch today and I was paying attention. Just keep working at it. tmf
  18. I'm surprised this is only the second time you've had a small plateau? Sorry, but I copied one of my posts from earlier in the day and I'm just going to repost it here: Your post is similar to so many every day. So yes, nearly everyone(99%?) has experienced going a few days and did not lose weight and maybe even gained a lb or 2? Losing weight vs losing fat are two different things entirely. The band is not a magic wand where we lose fat or weight every day or even every week. Your scale does not separate the two main factors of losing weight. Fat vs fluids! The scale does not know that it's your TOM or that you ate chinese with a 1/4 cup of soy sauce, or a lean cusine with 750 mg sodium, or 2 cups of chicken Soup loaded with sodium. Your scale does not know you've exercised rigorously for the last 2 weeks adding muscle to replace lost fat. You can lose 3 lbs of fat in one week but the scale may not indicate any loss of fat at all if you are retaining fluids. It's so easy for our bodies to retain 3-5 lbs of water/fluids if the environment presents itself. Eat a lot of sodium, TOM, medications or illness make our bodies retain fluids. That's weight and lots of it. You can expect wild 1-5 lb fluctuations every day or week. No one is immune. jmo
  19. No one in my circles know anything about the different WLS methods but if someone was aware and asked me, I think I would say that I've thought a lot about my choices and I'm leaving the vertical sleeve choice as my ace in the hole. If the band fails me, I still have the option of the sleeve where if I would have went with the sleeve or bypass, I would have no other choices. With the band, I can eat the same foods I ate before WLS, only now I won't eat as much. tmf

  21. Losing weight is a simple matter of burning more calories than you consume. You will slow this process if you don't eat enough calories though. Your body will go into a starvation mode and slow your metabolism down. I see most of the successful female losers on this forum try to stick to around 1000 calories a day. If you can exercise and burn 300 more calories a day you should lose 4-8 lbs a month. So, track your calories, track your calories burned, track how many calories your body needs a day just to maintain and then do the math. tmf
  22. Please fill in your profile so we know more about you? Time will be your friend or enemy? Takes me about 45 minutes to pass food when I take too big of a bite, don't chew properly, eat too fast.
  23. Here's a great video that confirms why our weight loss slows down around month 2.
  24. Watch any sports event and the first thing they do is ice a sprained ankle, tendonitis etc. Sometimes, it's good to use ice and hot but that's on joints. The stomach might be different but cold has always been a way to avoid inflammation.
  25. All cream soups are good. If you like chinese soups, I recommend egg drop soup. Very tasty and full of protein. There's some soup mixes in the asian food isle.
