Is this GERD???
It's getting to the point that I can only drink liquids. Eating is miserable. I get full almost immediately and everything starts feeling heavy and burning and I can't get comfortable. I've never wanted a Monday to get here so fast before...

Discouraged
If it's actually water weight (and it sounds like it is) then stay off the scale until everything is sorted out. You know it's not actual weight, but the numbers on the scale are messing with you. You're going back on the Lasix, and that will help. If you think sodium intake may also be the problem, cut it way down, eliminate salt, etc... And just be patient with yourself. This kind of thing takes time to get better, but it WILL get better. Just remind yourself it's not actual weight, and it will go away, and stay off the scale for a while.

Is this GERD???
Yeah, I noticed that it's the absolute worst at night. I already didn't have dairy or spicy or rich foods. I can and will cut out the occasional diet soda I was drinking. Caffeine will be tough, but I will do it (I did it once, I can do it again). I've been sleeping propped up the last few days and it does help. I will definitely look at not eating any protein before bed. Looking back, I did that twice while this was going on. Definitely gonna cut that out. There was no buildup to this at all. It just BOOM hit me like a mack truck one night and I thought I was dying. Could it be a hernia? Would that actlike this? Or does this definitely sound like GERD?

Who experienced heartburn or GERD after gastric sleeve?
Thank you

Sleeve to bypass hopefully
I'm going to call on Monday and see if I can get in to see my surgeon or the NP. The burning in my throat is constant now and I have zero desire to eat because everything either makes me really nauseous or triggers a BRUTAL reaction (pain, intense burning in my stomach, chest, and throat, nausea, shortness of breath, PAIN). I had my gallbladder out in 97 so I know it's not that. I'm going to try OTC Nexium (comes in 20mg but I'm going to buy extras and take 40mg) for about a week to see if it helps at all. The 40mg of Omeprazole isn't helping. I thought about taking it in the morning and at night, but I want to run that by my doctor first. If the Nexium doesn't help, and if taking one of them 2x a day doesn't help, I will absolutely do a revision to bypass. I'll figure it out with the pills, but I'm on day 3 of this and I can't do it. It's horrible. It's like everything and nothing triggers it. I don't know how people live like this.

Help! VSG or Bypass
How is everything going now? I am 3 1/2 months out from my sleeve and for the first time in my life, I started having HORRIBLE gerd symptoms 2 days ago. I'm uncomfortable during the day, but at night is when I'm in agony. I'm on 40mg of Omeprazole for 6 months because of the surgery, so I'm shocked this is happening. I made a post titled "Is this GERD?" because I literally have never felt anything like this before and it's freaking me out. I'm scared that if GERD is starting 3 1/2 months out from surgery, I'm going to have to be miserable for years before I can be approved for a revision. And I thought bypass was kind of the gold standard for eliminating GERD, and now I'm nervous having read a few threads on here about people getting the bypass and developing GERD after, or getting it because of GERD and it not going away.

Is this GERD???
It seems to be worse at night. It just started getting worse and I drank some milk and I'm in agony now. In my stomach area, burning in my throat, hard to catch my breath, can't get comfortable, almost feels like it hurts in my back area directly behind where it hurts in the front (and everything feels like it's burning). I've never had this before the last 2 days and it's freaking me out. I'm afraid it'll trigger a panic attack since I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and GERD has been known to do that.

Is this GERD???
2 nights ago I had some kind of episode where I had a snack about 45 minutes after I worked out at night and I had INCREDIBLE pain. Felt heavy, sharp pains, burning. Hurt to sit up, hurt to lay down, couldn't find a comfortable position. Took pepto twice before I finally got any relief after about an hour. I was left with burning in my throat. My husband said it sounds like reflux (I'm on a PPI for 6 months, but I've never had reflux or GERD or anything before). My snack was normal (1 tbsp hummus and 1/4 cup sliced cucumbers) but my workout was more intense than normal (had the treadmill at a 5.5 incline at a speed of 3.5). Now I have burning in my throat everyday and slight nausea depending on what I eat. The burning in the back of my throat is getting bothersome. I'm already on 40mg of Omeprazole daily (I never had GERD or reflux in the past, but I have to be on it for 6 months after the surgery) and after the "episode" that my husband said was a big GERD issue (he has it and said it's exactly like what happens with him) I haven't been able to eat without being nauseous and I have a persistent burning in the back of my throat. Not sure what to do since I'm already on something. I may need to call my surgeon's office on Monday, but this is going to make for a miserable weekend.

low carb pre op diet
I did keto a while back and had the keto flu for about a week. The bariatric diet and keto are actually the same except bariatric diet wants your fats 50 or less per day and keto wants HEALTHY fats higher. I did the bariatric diet for 2 1/2 months and my body hated it. I would stall over and over. I decided to switch to keto again and I haven't had a stall in the month I've been doing it and have steadily lost. No keto flu this time, tho. But it's normal and goes away. I keep my calories between 1000-1150 per day (I work out and need the extras so my body doesn't think it's starving and hold on to everything). I keep my carbs between 25-35 per day. My protein stays around 75-85 per day. My fats are usually around 70-80. And I'm completely sugarfree or very low sugar (such as certain fruits or veggies). I work out for 45 minutes per day, and I generally take in around 75-90oz of fluids (depending on the type of workout I did that day).

Post op blood thinner
Yep. Had to do them twice a day for 10 days when I got home. They did them for me when I was in the hospital. They SUCKED. My arms were all kinds of sore and bruised. Hated it.

Here I am after my shower. Yep, I can still see it. Pictures don't lie, I guess. I'll have to take pics every month to compare, and so I can actually see the difference.

Thanks Still struggling to see it when I look in the mirror, but I can't deny it when I see the pics side by side.
