  1. Sorry for the late reply. I haven't logged on for awhile! I hope your preop diet is going smoothly!

  4. Good luck, Mariann! It is exciting to know your surgery date is getting closer! That does seem like a long time to do the pre-op diet, but on the plus side, if you get really hungry, you could actually eat something substantial as long as it is prior to two weeks from your actual surgery date. I guess it will be good practice! I lost 12 pounds during my 2 week pre-op which was awesome because it put my right back into ONEderland! lol - I hear your frustration about the office foodies. Before my VSG it was a daily battle to stay away from all of the workplace snacks. Now when I look at the jars of candy and trays of donuts all I can think is how miserable I was after eating that stuff and how much better I feel now
  5. Of course. That’s what I love about this site. We are all here to encourage each other. While our experiences may be a little different, we are all working towards the same goal. ?Yes, I feel like I am doing really well. I’ve been on the purée diet for a few days and it has really helped me feel stronger. But I can tell you that I still need extra naps during the day.

  7. It will get better! I had my gastric sleeve on 4/27. Each day I see marked improvement. Everyone is different it seems. I have seen some people go back to work after five days. There is no way I would be ready for that now. Take it easy and listen to your body. Also, water is key!
  8. Good to know! I do have Labcorp and Quest near me. Thanks for sharing, I'll have to check it out.

  10. Good idea. I will ask my doctor to order some labs in about a month. I feel really well though, so I am hoping that is a positive indication they are working.

  12. I tried those too. Yuck! I just posted about patch vitamins my surgeon recommended. They are the BEST! Check out PatchAid.com. I've been using them for about one week and I have had zero nausea
  13. I'm hearing a lot of people are having nausea with the bariatric vitamins. I wanted to share the BEST news. My surgeon recommended patch vitamins. He said the Patch Aid multivitamin for bariatric patients is all I need. I have been using them for a week and I feel great. No nausea at all! I wear one patch a day for about 8 hours and I have not experienced any side effects. The patches are less expensive than the chewable ones and a lot less of a hassle! The website is PatchAid.com. Give them I a try!

  18. Great to hear everyone is doing well! I had mine Wednesday. I did have to stay in the hospital for two nights because my nausea was making it impossible for me to get in enough fluids. I am home now and sleeping a lot also. I figured my body must need extra rest, so I am doing just that.

  21. So exciting you are getting much closer to a surgery date! My surgery is 4/27. I will post updates. I am particularly concerned about the post surgery nausea and gas pain everyone talks about. When I had my Lapband taken out, I experienced some nausea. In addition to prescription nausea meds, the hospital gave me a little cup with a piece gauze soaked in ginger essential oil. It seemed to really help my nausea then, so fingers crossed it will be just as effective if I need it this time!

  23. HI there! Sounds like we have similar paths. I was banded in 2010 and lost 80+ pounds. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. I kept the weight off for more than 10 years before I started having issues with the band a couple of years ago. It was either too tight or not tight enough. Sadly, without a functioning tool, I gained quite a bit of weight. I had my Lapband removed in April 2021 with hopes to convert to the gastric sleeve a month later. Long story short, my insurance denied the conversion and it took almost a year and a couple of appeals to get the denial overturned. Fast forward to today, my gastric sleeve is approved and scheduled for 4/27. I am so looking forward to getting my tool back so that I can get back on track and live my healthiest life That is great you have lost 85 pounds! Have you been able to maintain the loss all this time? It sounds like your surgeon is removing your band and converting to bypass all in one surgery, is that right?
  24. I am on the 14 day pre-op diet now and the shakes I am drinking are the BEST and they are lactose free! Shamrock Farms Rockin' Protein Builder with 30g Protein, 9 net carbs and 190 calories. I drink three of them a day and have broth and sugar free jello in between along with 64 oz of water. I feel great! I do miss chewing but I know it is temporary. I have been on the liquid diet since 4/12 and I have lost 12 pounds.
