    sudden loss of restriction

I'd consider going to another doctor for a 2nd opinion (not switching doctors, just an opinion). The reason: if your band just disintigrated, or if they accidentally burst your band with too much fill, or created a leak they may be trying to wait till you cannot point the finger at them. If that's happened you need to know so you can have it replaced/repaired (I really like the fix a flat, didn't even know that existed). Accidents happen, no one is perfect - you can still use your regular doctor, just you need to know what you are facing and you can low-play how the problem occurred to maybe get them to be more accommodating regarding how to go forward. If that band is burst, no amount of fill is ever going to fill it up again. I know 2 people that happened to. They have no idea why the sacs burst, they just did after a few years.
  6. I had an easy surgery 4 weeks ago. But now am throwing up about half the time. No particular food causing problem can be water, can be grits, can be anything really. Does that mean I should go back to liquids for a week or so?

    LapBand Food Stages Lists Suggestions

If we're on mushy phase and had a really, really easy time for the first 4 weeks but all of sudden start throwing up every time I try to eat - does that mean I need to go back to liquids?

    Breakfast trouble

Have you thought about skipping the breakfast foods and going for the lunch or dinner foods? That's what I've done and it makes me so much more satisfied that I eat less at lunchtime.

5 weeks out of surgery what to exspect

Ohhhh....don't say that. I had my surgery on 7/2 and am getting my fill soon. I've lost 20 pounds due to willpower alone, I'm starving. I really want that restriction (although I'm not looking forward to getting something stuck for the first time as my doctor says almost everyone does at least once).
  10. Have you considered a second opinion on your overall situation from your GP who knows you much better than your surgeon? Or a nurse friend? I'm 4 weeks out and throwing up every time I try to eat for the last 3 days. I finally figured out that I have to wait between bites and my problem is in my esophogus - food won't even get to stomach. It's probably because I have an infection from the tube they put down my throat. My dr said if I throw up Water any more, it has to come out so I'm doing the really slow thing (1 oz every 15 minutes) just like they had us doing right after surgery. It's working for me, but I've irritated the pouch and like the literature says, once it's irritated it takes several days to calm down. But like you I'd like to keep it because I've lost 20 pounds in 4 weeks - so it works. And I'm lucky, it's probably my esophogus (sorry about the spelling). Have you tried the barium swallow x-ray? That'll at least narrow down the area of problem.

    New Bandster

I had my surgery 4 weeks ago now. I too had the shoulder issue (only I felt it underneath my right shoulderblade). It lasted for 4 days, and was very surprising when it went away all of a sudden. I was sleeping and rolled over and felt very strange...not hurting...but I can tell you exactly when the gas finally released. Didn't come out, don't know where it went but you'll know when it happens. I thought I had broken my band and called DR next day. He got quite a laugh. Getthin: Your body is in serious stress right now. It isn't going to release anything (including weight) until that stress passes. I'm down 20 pounds in 4 weeks - and I don't lose weight easily at all. So, give it another week or so and you'll be very encouraged.
