SasHappy reacted to Strivingfor5K in May 2022 surgery?
I’m still having a hard time getting all of my Water in. Sometimes I drink too fast and feel like vomiting. Sometimes I feel like I have heartburn. I’ve been moved to the purée part, but I still feel like I can’t really eat anything other than thick Soup or blended fish/chicken chunks.
I feel like I’m not following the program well enough and I’m frustrated.

I have two weeks preop liquid diet
I feel so defeated. I just found this forum because I really need support. I have 5 days left before my surgery 5/27/22 and I have slipped up. Actually, a couple slip ups. It’s crazy how some of us are on a strictly liquid diet and some are able to have lean meats and veggies

I didn’t cheat but my pre op diet was a little easier than most it was meat and low carb veggies plus I had free foods like Jello, lettuce and pickles (had a few pickle salads though, lol). I have heard of people that did and they were okay but I would try not to anymore. Post op, assuming no real hunger pains it is a little easier so you just have to get through these next few days. You can do it. Just think about all the reasons why you want this surgery and when you want to eat read threads on here such as “weirdest non scale victories” or “what is your why” (I think that’s it) to remind you of all the changes you are working towards.

I think the liver can shrink in 5 days I think they just put you on two weeks to prepare you mentally for new eating habits

Of course we did, it part of the reason we were in the position we are in. No self control . Me my last meal was burger 🍔 king along with a few other sneaky treats but in saying that I was at the lower end of the scale my surgeon didn't require me to liquid diet but My dietitian insisted

You’re not the only one. Not saying it’s right or wrong but whether you do it again is up to you. This is just the beginning of big changes to how & what you eat. Take it one day at a time. The first week is usually the hardest because your breaking habits & addictions.
All the best.

SasHappy reacted to CBT in About changing surgeons after insurance approval?
Once your insurance approves you, generally that approval is good for two years. If they require a center if excellence that's what you have to pay attention to when selecting a new surgeon. That and that s/he is in network.

I completely understand and am with you on going with your gut. I didn't go with my gut and it got me a revision. :/

Sorry I hope it didn't come out wrong... (Joys of text vs face to face). I was just trying to suggest that your comfort with the surgeon should be more important than waiting a while to get establish again and a new surgeon to perform it. At one point I had doubts about my surgeon and thought about switching but I didn't. She didn't to anything wrong and it all went well, but part of me wishes I would have researched different doctors better and more thoroughly. I mostly didn't switch as I did like her but I was worried about the calendar and a delay.

SasHappy reacted to Darcell76 in May Surgery Buddies
I’m soooo hungry! I keep eating sugar free popsicles, broth, Gatorade zero. It’s torture cooking my family full course meals everyday. I’m excited for the phone call tomorrow to let me know what time I need to be at the hospital Friday. My doctor said I’m first in the list so I should be having my surgery around 7:30am.

I'm 23 hours out of sleeve surgery. Had a hernia repair and gallbladder removed too.
I've been up and about for the last 8 hours. My pain is 1-2 with Tylenol, gabapentin, and the very last vestiges of the spinal block they used on me.
I've been sipping Water out of 1 ounce cups since an hour after I woke from surgery.
Two hours after I started with the water, i added in Protein Shakes. A little at first, building up as my body let's me.
I'm currently getting between 4-6 oz of water/shake each hour.
I had Dilaudid when I first woke and was in 6-7 pain. No more doses of that.
They've been giving me Tylenol, pepcid, heperin, and gabapentin.
I'm supposed to be getting released this afternoon.

I brought a clean change of clothes. Slippers for walking the halls. A long charging cable for my phone. A small bottle of biotene dry mouth spray. (Only needed it waking from surgery, but it really felt good at that time). Toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant.
That's it.

SasHappy reacted to AJ Tylo in Clothes?
I have looked like a Homeless guy for the last 6 months, I have now just started picking up a few things that fit. I did this as a way of reminding me how dang fat and out of shape i was. I had a huge wardrobe of huge clothes so i have donated Lawn and Leaf bags full of clothes. I am never going back to that size would rather be dead!
Sure has pissed off the kids walking around in big baggy clothes for the last few months
