I started following a VSG/WLS influencer on Instagram and decided to try her recipe for Protein coffee.
    My life is forever changed.
16 oz - Cold Brew Decaf
1 x 11.5 oz bottle of Premier Protein Caramel Protein Shake
2 Splashes of Jordan's Skinny Syrup - Salted Caramel

This helps me to not miss my lattes and frappes! If you're like me and live under a rock and haven't made a protein coffee (and you like coffee) - you need this in your life!

I have the best luck with the Fairlife 30g shakes and their 26g and 42g "core" shakes. They dont' have that chemical taste that most other shakes have, and taste closer to a Nesquick. They do have Monk Fruit and sucralose in them, but I've been able to tolerate them. I am sensitive to a lot of sugar alcohols (sorbitol and xylitol in particular) which trigger a bad insulin response for me, but I haven't had that experience with the Fairlife brand.
Premier Protein isn't bad, but I think Fairlife tastes a lot better. They can be hard to find, but I've had the best luck checking at Sams Club (or costco / BJ's Wholesale if they're in your area). They sell out fast, so I check in the morning and place a pick up order for after work.

I ended up with pretty empty boobs after weight loss. No implants for me, but I did get a breast lift, which I am extremely happy with as I now have the perky boobs of a teenager. Yeah, they are way smaller than they were pre-wls, but man, nothing beats being able to walk around bra-less and having my boobs still stand up on thier own (I’m a 30C today, 33” bust, 28.5” underbust)

I had a goal to reach the size I was when my son was young which was a size 2 but didn’t believe I could actually reach it…Yesterday those same old size 2 pants fit! It seems weird but you will adapt to your own body much faster than others will because you see it everyday. Enjoy the ride ☺️

First off, I'm not calling myself skinny...yet...but I've noticed a couple of things with my body that I'm surprised about that I wasn't expecting since I've lost so much weight.
First off...how the hell do you shave your armpits when they've turned into a cave?? I swear, my armpits are so sucked in now, it takes me 15 minutes to try to shave them....as off tonight, they're pretty hairy because I gave up.
Also, it's uncomfortable to sleep on my side because my now boney knees hurt when they're rubbing against each other....I've tried putting pillows and blankets between them but I can't sleep with that stuff between my legs...sigh.
And don't get me started about my boney butt on hard chairs and toilet seats!!
I am constantly cold and am not looking forward to the upcoming Canadian winter. My husband is already agitated with all the layers I wear to bed as it is.
But even with all these new "problems", I still wouldn't change any of it for the world!!
So what are your "skinny people problems" you weren't expecting??

Hi everyone, I’m new to the forums and WLS with VSG scheduled for 3/13. I’m currently 41, 5’3” and 213lbs. I’ve always been one to envision my goals for success. It works for me, but I’m genuinely struggling with picturing myself at the suggested goal weight of 125-135. I can’t recall a time where I was ever that small. Even at 13, I was 177lbs. The lightest I’ve ever been in my adult life was 181 at size 14. I can picture myself there, but trying to picture myself at a size 12 or lower feels like imagining myself getting accepted into the NASA space program. Not impossible but seriously (seriously) unlikely.
When my bariatric team asked about a personal goal weight, I said 170. I didn’t want them to look at me like, “uh, you need to be realistic here.” Beyond that, I can only recall 177 in my mind from middle school so 170 sounds possible.
I tried making a goal board with images of the clothes I’d like to wear and things I want to do, but it feels.. unrealistic? Ugh. I’m actually annoyed with myself if you can believe it.
Did (or have) you ever felt this way? I want to succeed but I know I need to believe I can do it before I can make it happen. Thoughts welcome!

I agree. I am 9 months PO, and had you told me that I would be able to reach the weight I currently am, I would not have believed you.
I didn't set a firm goal at the beginning, because I had no idea where I "should" end up. I did some math with weights around the top of the "normal" BMI numbers for my height, to see what the percentages were so I could have some idea of my progress at 3 and 6 months.
Then I ended up dropping weight faster than predicted. The only time I had an actual number in mind was after my 6 month appointment when the APRN told me what they had written down as my "ideal weight" in the computer. It messed with my head some, because I couldn't ever remember weighing that little, so when I got into the range with the same number in the tens place, I was psyching myself out. I had to work to get over that.
I still don't believe the number on my jeans (6 - I had to buy new ones because my saved clothes only went down to 10). It's insane to me that I can wear size small t-shirts. I can feel bones in all kinds of places that I never did before. I am still slowly losing, letting my body decide what it wants to do, but my brain is still catching up with what I see in the mirror.
I also agree with wearing things you have saved as soon as they fit and as often as possible. Sizes can go by quickly sometimes.

My new NSV: I was able to finish an entire spinning class without panting for breath or quitting early! It’s amazing how much losing weight can make working out easier!
Now I’m training for a triathlon coming up in a few months!!

I don't have kids, but I do have a husband, and an adult brother who lives with us, neither of which are bariatric patients. I usually just eat the part of the meal that agrees with my diet, maybe with some small alterations (i.e. I eat the broccoli and chicken that the fellas are enjoying over Pasta, or just the stir-fried meat and veggies with no rice).

We regularly have a “build your own salad” night. I also might keep fruit cups, fruits, and veggies out in plain sight so they’re more accessible than the chips, sugary stuff, or other less nutrient dense foods.
Your kids can only follow example and eat what you provide (for the most part), so healthy options, intuitive eating, and food modeling are great ways to keep kids having a healthier relationship with food.

OK so here is a before and after from me... I am 6 months out and 100+ pounds down. I think the biggest surprise for me is realizing I didn't have a neck before. I just had chins...My glasses are actually getting comically big for my face.

I just got ID’d to enter a restaurant that becomes a bar late at night. I told the security guy he must be new since I’m there 3x/week. He said no. He took a look at my ID and still marked my hand as underage.

    I’m 34 years old!!! Apparently I look younger now haha 😂 🤣😂
