  1. I'll suggest CBD oil to her. Thanks.
  2. My surgeon encouraged me to choose the sleeve over bypass because the previous hernia surgery is less likely to cause complications with the sleeve. And I'd like to eventually be able to take anti-inflammatory meds again. My mom had bypass 14 years ago and she can't take anything much for her arthritis because anti-inflammatory meds burn her stomach. I don't want to be in the same boat when I'm her age.
  3. I've heard that VSG can cause heartburn and GERD. I used to have severe GERD, painful esophogeal spasms, and an esophogeal stricture before I had a Nissen Fundoplication (hiatal hernia repair). I'm afraid those problems will return after surgery. The Nissen Fundoplication has to be undone and the surgeon will repair the hiatal hernia in another way. My surgeon assures me that if he repairs the hiatal hernia, I'll be unlikely to have acid reflux. Does anyone have experience with having a hiatal hernia repaired while undergoing a sleeve gastrectomy? Has it worked for you? Have you experienced much acid reflux and heartburn?
  4. Hi all. I'm so glad I found this thread! I have PCOS and hypothyroidism and my biggest fear is that I'll have this surgery and still be unable to lose weight. You all have given me some hope and a lot to think about. I wish there was more research into PCOS and I wish doctors would take it more seriously. Doctors always say my PCOS will get better if I lose weight, but I can't lose weight because of the PCOS. And the assumption is that being overweight causes PCOS. But I started getting all the symptoms of PCOS when I was super skinny. Then I started to gain weight. So I firmly believe that PCOS comes first and it causes the weight gain.

    Leg soreness?

I would have it checked out if you're nervous about it. But it doesn't sound like a DVT. I had one three years ago and the swelling was obvious.

    May 2022 surgery?

My surgery is scheduled for Monday, May 2nd! I'm starting to get nervous. My previous Nissen Fundoplication (hiatal hernia surgery) has to be revised and hopefully the surgeon will be able to do the gastric sleeve at the same time. If not, it will be a few months before he can do the sleeve. But he thinks he'll be able to do both at the same time. I've been on my liquid diet since Sunday and it's going well. I've been pleasantly surprised. I was dreading it, but I haven't been as hungry as I expected.
