  1. My prayers are with you. I also pray for peace of mind. Take time to think and countemplate your next move, your life, and your childrens lives. Think about what will make you happy. What will enable you to move forward and provide a healthy and happy life for your children. Of course no one on this website can tell you what to do. But if you feel that the Band may be ONE of those tools... then make that move. I'm so sorry that this happened to you.

    Fill in Kansas City

You're welcome...that's what we're here for to encourage one another. We have to let each other know that we're not on this journey by ourselves and that we're going through the same issues. Let me share this with you real quick. I was planning on going to the store after work and buying some buffalo wings but I've decided just now to purchase chicken breast and put hot sauce on the chicken breast instead. I will have my own version of chicken wings... but it will be without the skin of the chicken... unlike the wings. Another thing I will try to accomplish is to work out on my Gazelle for at least five minutes I challeged myself to work up to thirty minutes by the end of October. Another goal that I will be attempting is a very low or no carb month. But you don't have to do what I do. Set your own pace and goals. And if you fall... then oh well get back on the horse and try again. Who knows you better then you  So anytime you're feeling blue I will most definitly try to be here for you. I will also lift you up in prayer as I do for myself. I always pray for will power and I will do the same for you. So please remember to send your positive vibes my way. I hope you're feeling my positive vibes right now. And don't forget to set a goal for this week even if its marching in place for one minute or taking out at least one bad food from your meal plan this week. YOU GO GIRL!

    Fill in Kansas City

Hey Missy, I'm not going to let you beat yourself up. Just stop it :tt2: No you're not dumb  You're just frustrated because the band is a tool that should help you with restriction. Just take one day at a time or one hour at a time. I know that may sound weird. But it actually works for me. I'm a food addict as well. Every minute is a challenge. I'm starting to learn how to think before I eat. I mean I actually have to pause before I put anything in my mouth and think about how will this piece of food effect my weight goal. I too was disappointed after my first fill because I thought I could finally have that restriction that they said the Lap Band would give me. But I don't and it's ok because when I decided to get the Band I made up my mind that this is it I'm going to loose this weight regardless. Yes, going to the store or any place that has food is soooooo challenging. I want the ice cream, the fried chicken, the french fries with the jalapeno pepper, and strawberry soda. Oh my goodness I need to stop. But then I know eating these foods will keep me away from my goal. DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP IF YOU MESS UP. EVERY MINUTE COUNTS. IF YOU TAKE ONE BITE OF BAD FOOD THEN MAKE SURE YOU STOP AND MAKE A HEALTHIER CHOICE! Our bad eating habits dosen't change over night. Next time you go for another fill express your concerns and let your doctor know that you need the restriction and that maybe he needs to give you more of an agressive fill. I've asked my mom to come in the office with me on my next visit next week. So that she can be a witness to what I tell the nurse that does my fills because if I don't feel some restriction after this second fill I will be going back within that week so that he can adjust it. I just want to encourage you and let you know it will be alright. PLEASE DON'T STRESS! RELAX :cool2: RELATE  RELEASE :tt2:

    Givin' up the ice cream

Well, Those Mini Mint Three Musketeers were gone on Monday. But I do have a victory to report I went to the store yesterday and I have to be honest once I reached the checkout line where all the candy bars are located I looked and saw the Musketeers. But guest what stop me from reaching and purchasing the candy. The price and size of the candy bar stopped me dead in my tracks. So I learned a lesson about myself my cheapness and greediness will out weight my sweet tooth craving any day. LOL:lol:

Why is it taking so long?

Calm down and hold your horses.:crying: You know some of us had to go through the same waiting game that you're going through. Just chill:rolleyes::rolleyes: In my case the Surgical Center had to threaten my doctor's medical records department for my records. They just didn't want to do the work of looking through 5 years of medical records to prove that I had tried different methods of weight management. The information was right there in my medical records but it took a lot of calling and bugging them to do the job and send it over to the Surgical clinic so that the surgical clinic could send it over to my insurance com. I could've banded in June or July. But I was banded in August which is cool because what's meant to be will be.

    Fill in Kansas City

Hey neighbors, I'm from Kansas City too and I had my surgery done at Weight Loss Surgical Center. I had my first fill which was covered by my insurance. But I have a question for the ones that had their insurance cover their surgery...Does your insurance cover your fills and how many are they willing to cover. I like the center I think it's neat how it caters to the patients special needs:smile2:
  9. LOL! Isn't that the truth. I have never discuss the appearence of my vajayjay with no one not even my lover past or present. That's why I love this website. When they say you can get support from this site they weren't kidding. But it's all good because it makes you think outside your box. It makes you come out of that fat little world. It even makes you laugh which I have done a lot since I've started this journey. And believe me folks there are some comedians on this website because I managed to laugh at something on this website everyday.:crying:

    Just joined today

Hey congratulations! First appt. is nothing to be scared about. My appt. went like this my surgeon introduced himself. Then he talked about the surgery. He talked about the pros and cons of the Lap Band surgery. He talked about the procedure and he showed me where the incisions would be located. He told me how long the surgery would take. How I probably feel afterwards. What I wouldn't be able to eat. And how much weight I would loose on a monthly basis. He also discussed the two different band (Lap or Realize) and told me it didn't matter which one I chose because both are just as effective. The only difference is the Realize port is smaller, the port is stapled in placed instead of sutured, and you get an online support system with the Realize band. He also expressed that this was the time for him to address any questions or concern I may have. I wish you the best and I hope this helps to ease you nerves. Girl, you'll be just fine. I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU:lol:

    Givin' up the ice cream

YEAH, EZMA!!! While you were stomping on your ice cream addiction I hope you gave cancer a good stomp too. Tapshoes, the last mini musketeer I had was Monday and yes I did eat one once a day but if Ezma can stomp the ice cream addiction I can stomp the Three Musketeer Mint addiction. :girl_hug:
  12. WOW! You all are just blowing my mind! I just love some of the topics that are discussed on this web site! I actually examine myself down there...And to my surprise it is fat!!! Like Leslie had mentioned I haven't seen that in over 15 yrs. I just realized how easy it was when I was younger and thinner to look down and see it. Boy how you forget the some of the things you were able to do when you were thinner. Man! weight really does effect things that you don't even consider:wink2: I know I may sound dumb but when you loose weight do you really loose weight from that area too?:rolleyes2:

Oh my goodness Ezma we have somethings in common. As a twice cancer survivor...I HATE CANCER TOO!!! Let me try to encourage you by saying get on track. Live and breathe in healthy, happy and positive thoughts. But still treat yourself. With my new addiction... I buy the bite size Three Musketeer Mint bars. It's still sinful but I consider it a little sin. Oh Yeah! I love Stephen King. Healthy is good. Thinner feels better. :rolleyes2:

    Treadmill VS Elliptical

Well, I like to commit on the $189.00 epllitical equipment. Sounds like the same machine I was looking to buy from WalMart. Was it the Gazelle Powerplus by Tony Little? I brought the Gazelle Edge for $89.00 and I tell you what it had me sweating. My arms and legs were feeling the burn it's sturdy enough to hold my large frame. My 12 yr old son is enjoying the work out it gives him so I'm very happy:thumbup: Its very easy on the joints and was easy to assemble:tt2: So I know they say you get what you pay for but sometimes you can happen upon a diamond in the ruff. To each it's own. Peace.

    Givin' up the ice cream

Hi everyone, Ezma, I feel you on the Mint Choc Ice cream. I can eat almost a half gallon in one sitting. I love it love it love it:lol: But I try not to buy it when I go to the store but it seems I've traded that addiction for another addiction by the name of Three Musketeers Mint. Oh My GOD! It's so sinful. Help me:rolleyes2:
  18. WOW! I never thought of that being fat...Well let me take that back I never consider getting anything done to that area. But if it's a possibility that it will make my great sex life even greater then I most definitly will be discussing this with my PS before my BR and TT surgery. I plan on wearing some very trashy and skimpy intimate apparel and I want everything looking good. I say if you going to do it...do it right. WOW! The things I learn on this web site... It just blows my mind... but in a good way:blink:
  19. Hi, I use to drink Smooth Move Tea back in the day. I bought the tea from Wild Oates. It didn't do anything for me. I have been having problems with constipation since getting Lap Band. The Nurse suggested Benefiber, but I've found that a nice bowl of Grape nuts does the trick. I even put some Grape nuts in the meat patties I made yesterday. Oh boy didn't my son wake up to an easier morning without nowing why and the patties were delicious if i say so myself. He thought they were too. I just hope they don't have the same effect during the day at school like they did before school this morning. Oh well it's hard trying to get my son and husband to eat vegetables and whole grains so I have to be inventive. But try some Grape Nuts with yourgut or Bran period and see if that don't do the trick. My mother is big on the Prune juice...YUck:cry_smile:

    lost a clothing size woohoo

WOW! That's the first time that I ever heard of anyone wanting to lose boob. I'm mad because I don't have a butt to begin with and that's the first place that I tend to lose is breast and butt. How about if my stomach, thighs, face, and arms go first for a change.
  21. Welcome! I wish you the best on your Lap band journey:cry_smile:

Am I being mean and rude?

GOOD! NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. TRUE LOVE WILL ALWAYS COMPROMISE!
  23. Melolo

Am I being mean and rude?

I agree with you. I believe calling him abusive is too harsh. Like I stated in my last post "don't feel bad," I beleive you two have experience things as a couple and that is what you wanted to do with the Lap Band. I know you're not a bad husband because you referred to her as your beautiful wife. An abusive husband would have been less kind. So I know there's love and concern in your marriage. I commend you on wanting to experience the Lap Band journey with her...But I also commend you on respecting her wishes to taking a different approach to losing weight.
  24. Melolo

Am I being mean and rude?

Don't feel bad... if you've been together for that long I'm sure you've done a lot of things as a couple. You probably figured why shouldn't losing weight be any different. But you know what getting the Lap Band is something that an individual has to want for themselves. You probably came to the decision that you wanted the Lap Band and this is the tool that would help you on your journey. Well she believes she can do it herself. Be her support just like you want her to be your support. Make her believe that she can do it herself. If she doesn't succeed on her own then at least you can be an example of how the Lap Band can be an helpful tool in losing weight. JUST BE THAT SUPPORTIVE HUSBAND AND HAVE FUN EXERCISING AND EATING RIGHT TOGETHER! YEEEAAAH!
