I think fitting back into clothes I hadn't worn in 2-3 years and have them even loose is a wonderful feeling!

Its the small things that count! I don't look like I'm 12 months pregnant anymore. Good news the stall out that was happening, is finally over after 5 weeks! Finally dropped 3 more pounds, I'll take it. My hair is falling out like there is no tomorrow. Like a handful every time I brush. I know this is normal, I expect after the first 6 months it will lighten up. I'm at 4 months. Take all my Vitamins. Even take a fish oil supplement because it works so good for my dogs fur, thought I'd try people fish oil. The jurys still out.

Now I'm going to have to try these. I don't keep foods like this around, but for an occasional treat, might be great. The reason I don't keep them around is, even though its all Protein, because of the sweet taste I might over eat them, at the expense of eating healthier stuff. Thats something I am working on.

DonnaGS got a reaction from SleeverSk in My First Binge :(
Sorry to hear about your "slip up," as you know and mentioned, try to be kinder to yourself, try not to beat yourself up. I go thru the same thing. While the bingeing has been much better under control, I have had the same thing happen since surgery. For me its always when my chronic pain flares up or I'm really tired from being up the night before in pain. I get depressed when I have to cancel my plans the next day because I'm in too much pain. Thats when the bingeing starts. I eat for energy, to make me feel better and because I'm down.
What I've realized, for myself anyway, once I start eating carbs, like ice cream, I want more carbs. There is a whole physical/psychological explanation for this, I won't repeat it, because I'm sure we've all read it somewhere. But, you are right, it is a slippery slope. But you stopped it! Its not continuing on day after day, I think the best thing we can do for ourselves is to be gentle.
I start planning my healthy diet for the next day to break the cycle. there was a time when I would binge one full day, then feel so ashamed, embarrassed, disgusted with myself, not to mention the food hang over I would have. So, the next day would be a smaller binge, then the 3rd day an even smaller one. Now, when it happens one day, I forgive myself but get right back on track the next day.
Wishing you the best of luck, you've come this far and done great!

Sleevediva, you are doing wonderful! Congrats. My surgeon and dietician recommend just having carbs twice a week, When I say carbs I mostly mean bread, potatoes, Pasta. I can eat fruit in small quantities and can even have a yam here and there. The twice a week gives me an out when I go to a restaurant, I can have what everyone else is eating and not feel left out. Its keeping track of the twice a week that gets tricky. Need to write it down on my calendar so I don't play games like "my twice a week starts today," and I say that everyday. ugh.

I only weigh once a week at most, sometimes every two weeks. I would drive myself nuts weighing every day, because a salty meal and I can gain 5 pounds! I learned not to do this to myself awhile back. Everyone is different, some people can handle the normal fluctuations.

So sorry to hear about your struggles since surgery, thats a lot to deal with. For the Constipation, you may need to add stool softener's with the fiber and Water. I'm speaking from personal notes. I take a ton of fiber and have always been a big water drinker, but the stools were so hard it was a challenge to pass it. So the softeners have solved that problem and life has been better since. Good luck to you!

Hi Everyone, I had the sleeve done in FEB 2022. I've lost a total of 30 lbs, which considering I was losing 1/2 pound a month before surgery. I'll take it!
Figured I would be honest with myself, my calorie count has sneaked up from 800-1200, not every day, but most. I'm also eating carbs. I do not lose when doing carbs, they have to be few and far between. The good news is, Salads are on the menu again! That makes life so much easier and easier to avoid carbs. This is disappointing and I'm a bit surprised because I'm physically hungry most of the time! Thought I would share to see if anyone else has this problem. I need to clean my diet up, resume meditating everyday and throw out the carbs! And walk more. I have a new puppy I wasn't expecting and it has turned my world upside, but no more excuses!
Good luck to all of you.

DonnaGS got a reaction from TheWeightisOvr in Slow Losers Club…..officially *sigh*
I'm going back to logging everything I eat, plus the exercise I do. I walk as much as my body will allow, if anything I overdo more than under do. I have medical issues and constantly play the don't over do it it game! But, I also fall off the eating wagon from time to time, I stall out completely. These people who say they can eat whatever they want and still lose, I'm happy for them, but I'm not one of them. Have to stop whining about it and stick to the plan of Protein and vegs, period.

Oh dear, thats discouraging! I'm probably doing the same thing. I lost 20 pounds in the first 6 weeks. When I stay on Keto or very low carb, I lose. As soon as I have any bread, wheat, tortilla, I stall out and don't lose anything, even though my calorie count is still under 1000 calories in a day. I haven't lost anything in my second month so far because I ate out and had bread of some sort.
What can I say? Before surgery I could lose 1/2 a pound a month, I know I have insulin resistance, it is what it is. Hand in there! At least we aren't gaining!

Glad to hear other people are experiencing the same stall outs and still losing their weight! I stall out every other week. If I eat any Carb its a full week of stalling out and it takes an act of congress to jump back on the band wagon and get going again. Like a lot of people have mentioned, I have osteoarthritis In every joint of my body, plus other issues. So walking, swimming, everything I do has to be in moderation and not everyday. I do weight lifting, but very small weights. It all adds up, it might not be as much as I want, but I realize I'm more active than the average person probably.

I was both a slow loser and a chronic staller. But I still got to my goal weight and even went a little past it. I'm in maintenance now and the only thing I can tell you is to try and not stress about it (which you will still undoubtedly do, because I know I did).

DonnaGS got a reaction from learn2cook in Negative comments from family members
I've told most my family and friends and most have been supportive, with occasional negative comments such as " my sister is the only one that hasn't gained it back." I'm looking at it as a lack of experience and knowledge on their part and try to educated them. Every situation is of course, different. If someone weighs 300 lbs, like my friend, she lost 150 lbs, but then over next 15 years she gained 50 back. However, she is still down 100 lbs. I consider that a success, it kept her health in a good place. I try to pass that on and look at it from a different point of view. She wasn't trying to look in a bikini, its about health and she succeeded in that.
