  1. I am having a weird psychological thing right now. Although we had a freakishly cold day in GA yesterday, it is time to start putting away winter clothes and pull out spring/summer clothes. I know I should probably go ahead and donate the winter things. Many are too big now just 5 weeks post op. But I keep thinking, “What if I don’t lose weight?” I really like clothes so I will be storing a lot if I hang on to them. Any advice?
  2. I really like the Ricotta Bake and got a great sugar free marinara from Amazon. I have not been very adventurous with pureed food at all. I have had a scrambled egg, chicken with a little mayo, and the Ricotta Bake. The very first thing I made was a Buffalo chicken puree. What a mistake! I was miserable for an entire day. Right now I am doing two protein shakes and one pureed meal a day. I know need to get over the fear and try to get some more pureed food in.
  3. I know several of us have transitioned to the pureed/soft stage. I need ideas!
  4. I am prone to anxiety without WLS so I had to come up with some things to alleviate presurgery anxiety! I did many things to get ready for recovery, but if all the things I did, I found setting up a journal and meal planner to be cathartic. I bought this journal https://www.amazon.com/Clever-Fox-Weekly-Meal-Planner/dp/B088LSB6BC/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=37FN1JATNE23H&keywords=clever+fox+planner+2022+meal&qid=1644708875&sprefix=clever+fox+planner+2022+meal%2Caps%2C99&sr=8-3. I set up pages to track weight loss, goals, milestones, etc. I bought beautiful markers for the journal. I worked on it several times leading up to the surgery. It was relaxing and helped me visualize the journey.
  5. I had my one week post op appointment today. I am down 16 pounds since my pre op appointment on 1/28. My doctor had me eat an egg before my appointment today to see how I tolerated it. I did okay. So, he wants me to transition to two Protein Shakes a day and one puréed “meal” (2 ounces) starting tomorrow. He really drove home the importance of 64 ounces of Water each day. (I have been hitting 48-56 a day). He said I could go back to work on Monday but to be very aware that my energy level will likely be low. So, I am pleased with the appointment and look forward to going back in a month!
  6. My surgery was 2/3. I was on a clear liquid diet Thursday and Friday. I stayed on it Saturday just because I didn’t feel ready to go back to a regular liquid diet. My instructions were to start vitamins when I started the full liquid diet, so I started yesterday. When the hospital called to check on me today they confirmed that I started my vitamins!
  7. I had my surgery on 2/3. The surgery took much longer than expected as the surgeon discovered a hiatal hernia and tons of adhesions from a previous open surgery. I was worried that those extra issues might impact recovery. I really tried to focus on hydration Friday and Saturday. I was only able to get in 24-32 ounces each of those days. I am adding protein shakes back in today. I haven’t really had pain but I have had discomfort. I need to get in more walking today! How is everyone else doing?
  8. My surgeon just delivered a bear in honor of my Bariatric surgery. I am hoping to be ready to leave the hospital by 2:30!
  9. How is everyone who had surgery today? I feel great except for the gas pains in my back!
  10. I know that several of us are scheduled for tomorrow. Happy Surgery Eve, friends! I am so excited about tomorrow I don’t even think I will mind clear liquids today!
  11. I saw someone else responded with Bariatric Fusion Complete Chewable. You do have to take four a day but they have all that you need for the sleeve. It was also a very cost effective choice.
  12. I am scheduled for 2/3, too. I have only had two days that I felt over the liquid diet. Today was one of those days. Those shakes were hard to get down, and my energy was super low. But after 11 days of this and only a few more to go before surgery, there was no way I was going to cheat. Are you on a clear liquid diet Wednesday?
  13. We really are surgery twins! I am just outside of Atlanta and am scheduled for surgery 2/3. (That is assuming Anthem and Northside can figure out their differences by then.). I finished my requirements in November. I am in day 8 of a liquid diet and and down to 303. My highest weight was 330 this summer; 316 when I saw the surgeon in October; and 312 at the start of the liquid diet. Good luck to you!
  14. I have a surgeon who requires the strict pre-op diet. I fear my surgery getting postponed due to an insurance battle happening in GA. (The thought of prolonged protein shakes makes me nervous.).   You raised an interesting question about time off of work. My doctor’s said one to two weeks. I would love to do one but worry about lack of energy.
  15. Congratulations! In a few hours the surgery will be over, and you will begin the next phase of your weight loss journey :-)
  16. So I am a little freaked out about my insurance. Surgery is scheduled for 2/3, and I am super excited now that I am on the liquid diet. (I think it seems real now.). But, I learned today that unless and agreement is reached between the hospital and Anthem in the next week or so, the hospital will not be in-network on February 1!
  17. I started my liquid diet today to prepare for surgery on February 3. I was so happy to learn that Health Wise oatmeal is allowed. It was yummy, and did not feel like another “liquid”!
  18. I am also scheduled for the sleeve on February 3 in Georgia. My pre-op diet will begin on the 20th, so right now I am working on tracking protein, sipping water all day, and trying to eliminate Diet Coke. That has been much harder than I anticipated! I am excited for everyone!

Feb 2022 Surgery date, new here

I saw your post and just wanted to share that I can relate! I am scheduled for February 3, and I have been so excited. I have loved all of the “getting ready” tasks, as I felt like I was taking control. But as the surgery date gets closer, I am getting anxious. I had emergency abdominal surgery four years ago that led to a two week hospital stay and three month recovery. I keep thinking about that time period, and it really makes me nervous. I am talking to a therapist, and that is definitely helping. So, I don’t have advice for you, but I wanted to share that I definitely understand the worry! Over the past few days, I have gone back to “getting ready”. I set up my journal for meal planning, weight loss tracking, measurement tracking, goals, etc. I have started ordering supplies, such as toddler plates, little forks, small containers, etc. I am about to get sample packets of the various protein shakes my doctor recommends so I will know what I like. All of this is reminding me that I am making a choice to take action to improve my health, and that puts my mind at ease.
