  1. Isnt medicaid tho for people over 65 years old or those with disabilities?
  2. So i had sleeve done last Monday. So far so good. I do get some pain in my chest if i lay flat in a bed (Maybe acid reflux) but if i just prop up my head i am good. But never know if revision may be needed in the future and since i am self pay that could be a problem. here in Florida bariatric surgery is not covered under the affordable care act (obamacare) So i have been doing research on which states do. One in particular is South Dakota. So if i were to say move to South Dakota, establish my residency there and get health insurance thru the affordable care act, Bariatric surgery is covered. one great resource there is a company called America's Mailbox, where you can setup your own residency (in a RV) get a drivers license, south dakota plates ect... Think that will be my backup plan if one day in the future i need a revision which i hope i do not.
  3. you are probably in a stall. can last a couple weeks where you wont loose any. and its normal to gain or loose a pound. you cant be on that scale constantly. you will drive yourself crazy. Just keep at it.
  4. its fine if i add it to greek yogurt and milk but i only add like half a scoop if that. Just doing anything to increase protein amount. But to stuff like broths its disgusting.
  5. I got me the flavorless protein powder. tried to put it in broths, OMG it was sooo gross lmao. I am going to go to the store later to try to find that gatorade that has 10G of protein in it.
  6. Day 5 post op and protein shakes are now disgusting to me. 3 weeks of protein shakes (Pre op and post op) i knew it would get to me. need to figure out other ways to get protein in until May 3rd when i am cleared for soft foods.
  7. I have had no issues with any pills since my surgery last Monday. I have to take several medications they prescribed that are capsules and tablets and go down without issue. i just drink a tiny amount of water to get it down and wait a bit before taking the next capsule.
  8. I have two of these chewable calcium things. They are delicious. idk if the amount changes for a female tho. I was told to take it two hours after any iron supplement.
  9. you and i had our surgeries almost exactly. I had mine on April 18th. I moved onto full liquids right out of the hospital. Tho i have not had creamy soups yet. I have stuck with protein shakes, water, broths, and sugar free popsicles. One suggested the Cream of chicken soup. To mix with milk and ricotta cheese in a blender until it was thin.
  10. Yea thats how it typically goes for out of network. I have had that happen so many times i make a appointment, provide my insurance. But they dont actually verify insurance coverage until a few days before the appointment which is stupid.
  11. I personally have several different ones. So since i just had surgery on Monday. I am not really wanting to do pills at this moment. So i am doing the patches. But thats only for maybe the first month. After that i have the Barimelts Multivamin (They melt in your mouth) and also the ones from this website here called Bariatric Pal Multivitamin One with 45mg iron. I will wait to take those once i am more healed
  12. Really? LOL I love tuna in olive oil. Taste amazing. I cant stand tuna in just water LMAO
  13. I love tuna. Before surgery i would eat this specific one is what i liked but there are so many different choices. Great for 2 days a week. Not suppose to eat tuna more than that due to mercury.
  14. Weighed myself last night after a shower. 298lb. When i started the preop diet i was at 317. Exciting. I dont weigh myself everyday. I do it like every two weeks or longer. Scales will drive people mad if they weigh themselves everyday. So far recovery has been blah... Sleeping is the hardest because i cant sleep in my own bed, Its painful and i cant get up on my own, Recliner started to hurt my back after 2 days. so been going from chair to chair couch to couch. One good thing is the hunger is pretty much gone for now. I do not feel hungry at all through out the day. I have alarms set to make sure i am getting in the protein and water but thats proven to be difficult to get it all in but i do my best.
  15. It finally happened this morning lmao. haha.
  16. For those that had surgery. How long before you went number 2? LOL I had surgery on Monday and still nothing lol. They gave me stool softener pills which i have been taking.
  17. I had surgery on monday and i have to take a medication called ursodiol for 6 months to prevent gall stones
  18. I was in a binder once i got out of surgery. i found it harder to breath with it on
  19. First stop is getting a consult from a bariatric center near you (or some travel) and they can explain everything and what their self pay fees are. I just had surgery on Monday and i was self pay. I had the gastric sleeve and it cost me a little over $18,000 tho i did not finance. I sold some of my stuff and property. APR was too high on the loans. Also go on youtube and watch tons of videos on bariatric surgery. That is what i first started doing.
  20. I understand being embarrassed asking for the extender. Luckily you dont have to. you can buy extenders on amazon This one fits all airlines except southwest. https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-7-31-Airplane-Seat-Extender/dp/B08798Z7C1
  21. i have always seen overweight people ask for a extender from the flight attendant. For me personally being this big those coach seats are horrible and i am in pain being squished so i only fly first class. cant wait to loose weight and be happy flying coach
  22. nope. it was great and a cool peppermint flavor. it really helped out a ton
  23. i have several times. great stuff.
  24. first is a recliner for when you get home. i have yet to be able to lay in a bed, Recliner has been amazing. 2nd would be a item recommended from someone in this group. Biotene dry mouth spray. It will help you so much after surgery when you cant drink much and your mouth is so dry. So whoever recommended that, thank you
