    This surgery is bullshit...

Well I’ve been logging my meals since I originally posted this and following the doctors advice to the T and I still haven't lost a single pound. Every visit he acts like he doesn’t believe me when I say I’m staying at 800 calories a day. So I’ve been told a million times by my doctor and people on this forum that the surgery is just a tool. I get that. But a tool for what? How do you use the tool? I don’t ever feel full, I’m always hungry, I’m not losing weight…. What a useless tool.
  2. Had this stupid surgery 5 months ago and I’m still not losing any weight. I’ve been logging my meals and sticking to 800 calories a day like the doctor told me to. And every time I see him he repeats the same thing (It’s obvious he doesn’t believe I’m keeping my calories on target) and he schedules another appointment. Every time I weight exactly the same. I still don’t understand what the surgery is supposed to do for me if I’m required to stick to a low calorie diet long term. Yeah, yeah… “the surgery is just a tool”…. A tool for what? What benefit is the surgery providing? None as far as I can tell.

To those with encouraging words I appreciate it. Those of you who are sitting on your high horse saying “all you have to do is put in the work” can check their ego. Why didn’t you put in the work instead of having surgery? Because you were just as much a lazy slob as me. Nobody who has had this procedure should be judgemental but we’ve got some on here talking like they are Olympic athletes or something. I have been following the advise of my physician. I don’t write everything down but I’m only eating low calorie food. I never drink anything with calories, never eat out…. I don’t even eat what the rest of my family has for meals. I’ve always got my own food to eat. And I’m not losing weight…… like I said, I don’t know what else to do.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Don't have the surgery. I did and I'm not losing any weight... It's WAY more trouble than it's worth.

That's all great advice. I agree 100%. All of the advice given would work without having surgery. That's all I'm saying. If you want to lose weight it's all down to diet and exercise. With or without surgery.... So my advise to anyone considering the surgery is don't do it. All you have to do is work hard, follow a plan and don't give up. It's your choice. Good luck with that.

Exactly, the surgery is bullshit. It's a total gamble.... I would never recommend someone have two thirds of a healthy organ removed from their body because it MIGHT help them develop a habit.

Then I guess I'm screwed since even the surgery didn't work. I'm officially the fattest loser...

So why have the surgery and not just see a nutritionist and personal trainer then follow their plan? What point does it serve to remove a portion of someone's stomach and then tell them to follow a very strict diet and exercise program to lose weight? If people don't have a problem with diet and exercise they don't need to take drastic measures like surgery.
  9. I had gastric sleeve surgery on July 21st. Over the first six weeks I lost 30lbs. I haven't lost a single pound since then..... My doctor keeps saying I need to keep my daily calorie intake to 800 or less to lose weight. I haven't been logging everything but I think I'm staying around that number... I'm not a very disciplined person so keeping track of that every day usually doesn't happen. I'm super frustrated and getting depressed over this. If I was able to lose weight by sticking to a very strict diet and exercise program I would have done that a long time ago and never had the surgery. I had a big part of my stomach removed for nothing.... Anybody else out there who can't lose weight even after weight loss surgery? I don't know what to do....
