  1. I can relate to this also Marie. I give it right back to them," Oh I don't think I will, do you? When I've got all this great support and positive feedback , from people like you. Or, I make up statistics, like, " statistics show there are at least one obese women in every office, I wonder who will be taking my place"! I find laughter is the best medicine . And I have found tons of humo , in what comes out of the mouths of ignorant, rude, and self absorbed people. Don't let anyone that shallow rob you of one once of your joy. You will succeed, and don't let anyone tell you differently !
  2. I have tried to learn from all the bandsters that have proceeded me. I am 5 days out of surgery, feel great , didn't have any complications. I used all the tricks I read for helping the gas pain and they worked great, didn't have any pain, and got rid of the gas the first three days , by walking and using gas x. I was even able to empty out on the morning of the 3rd day, by having a cup of organic Kona coffee and a shot of half & half. I'm not hungry, but I have been eating a cup of healthy soup, for one meal a day and then a couple of protein drinks along with sipping water all day and into the evening . I have been a very slow weight loser, before surgery, but I have really firmed and toned by swimming everyday, have to be away from that for a couple of weeks, so I'm walking at least a mile a day. My new goal is to add at least a 1/2 hour every day,of weight resistance. I need to build more muscle to start really burning those calories. I have no doubt, I am going to reach my goals, one day at a time. Thanks to all, for sharing, I will definetly continue to pass it forward !

  7. I started using the sleep apnea machine about a year and a half ago. I can't say I've lost a noticeable amount of weight because of the machine. However it has made an incredible improvement in my energy and well being. I currently swim everyday, I walk, I'm getting more and more active as time goes by. I have lost weight and inches because I now have the energy to move. I am having my surgery on Feb. 9th. The medical staff tells me, the chances are strong, I won't need the machine , once I've lost the weight. The machine is hard for a lot of people to get used to using. For me, I feel it saved my life, now I have the energy to continue living a healthy lifestyle with the added tool, of the band, to drop the weight. Good Luck to you
  8. Volcano Lady is my friend, we started the lap band program at the same time. For me, I have been waiting two years to get this surgery done. I'm still waiting for my call from the surgeon. Kaiser has put us through so many hoops, I'm fed up ! Now I hear this unnessary horror story my friend just had to endure, and I don't know what to do. I was supposed to be called for my surgery in December also, and all I've gotten is the run around. After all this time, I'm second guessing everything, if this is a sign, maybe I shouldn't do the surgery. I've lost confidence in Kaisers bariatric team and I just don't know what to do or think at this point. I'm so close and yet I've never felt this fearful and unsure since I first requested to get into the program.
  9. I would definetly listen to the people who responded, exercise is the key. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea a year ago. It definetly was a contributing factor to my weight gain, with depression and other health issues. Treating the condition has definetly been beneficial for my health and the ability to start functioning normally. But it was getting back to swimming, which I love, that limbered me up enough, after 5 months, to include walking a mile and the newest addition, a half hour in the evening on the total gym. Thats my daily routine. When I physically can't do one , for any reason, I have two other forms of exercise to fall back on. I feel great ! No weight loss yet. But like many of the bloggers said, I have lots of fat, that has turned to muscle and I've gone down 2 sizes because of inch loss. l I'm ready for my surgery in about 6 weeks. While my incisions are healing, I can still walk and keep up some of my strength training on the total gym . For myself , success has not come with shortcuts, I've had to do the work to enjoy the benefits. It's a great advantage to have so many mentors on this forum. Thank you
  10. Yes, actually , the directions come with it. You tilt your head to the side, the water actually comes out the other side of your nostril. I know it sounds weird, but it it actually clears your nose out , so good that my passages were clear after one time, then whenever I'm starting to feel stuffed up again, I use it. They cost between $10 & $15 , and they do sell them online also. Get well soon !
  11. Have you heard of the Netti Pot ? Almost all the pharmacies carry them, since Dr. Oz talked about it on Oprah . It looks like a little genie teapot. You put warm salt water in it, tilt your head and it clears out both sides of your nose. I have severe allergies, and it's helped me considerably.
  12. Since the doctors ant us o take this particular diet shake before surgery, do you know why it isn't covered by our drug copay ?
  13. After a disappointing visit on the 28th of October, I spoke to several of the people on the bariatric team, it seemed to no avail. Bingo, today they told me the Bariatric doctor was going to present me to the surgeon, which means I should have a date very soon. This is very encouraging , because I was told I would be waiting until Febuary, after already being on a waiting list for 14 months and an additional 5 month bariatric program, to date. I CAN't tell you how excited I am.:biggrin::redface::biggrin:
