FourBakes reacted to summerseeker in Need to share quick
I went shopping today, not something I have ever bothered with since being a teenager. I always shopped on eBay or catalogues. I wanted some trousers that didn't have big baggy legs. I guessed I was a UK 22 but they only had Size 20 so I bought them and tried them on at home - They fit beautifully, Oh my I am so happy

FourBakes got a reaction from Summermoose in Is anyone's spouse against WLS?
My husband is VERY against WLS surgery He says I haven't tried to lose weight or create a healthier lifestyle on my own. Now that I have been on the pre-op diet and losing some weight he says the same as another poster said ... why can't you just keep doing this?
He also is very cautious about surgeries in general so that doesn't help.

I assume one doctor isn’t planning on giving you 7 times as much of the Vitamin. Have you asked about the dosing? Maybe one doctor just thinks it absorbs differently or something so they spread the dosages out. Either way if you can’t get to the bottom of it I would insist that they talk and agree on a treatment.

FourBakes got a reaction from I♡BypassedMyPhatAss♡ in Should I even try
I strongly suggest waiting until the 18 month mark before even trying to get pregnant. Its great that you have lost weight so far, but once you are pregnant your weight loss will be put on hold and chances are you will never get back on track. The first 12-24 months are the prime time for losing weight with these surgeries and trying to grow a life inside you is draining!
Unfortunately, I know this first hand. I had a lap band placed in August 2017 and delivered my first child in January 2019. He was basically conceived around the 9 month mark. I don't recommend it.

FourBakes reacted to SummerTimeGirl in Are Smart Scales Worth it?
Now THAT sounds interesting. But I just checked it out quick and it appears it only goes to 60 inches. I think my hips are 62. Or at least they were years ago when I last checked. LOL I could always get it and wait until I lose a few inches before I start to use it.

FYI, this is an outcomes calculator that many bariatric professionals use:
https://mbsc.arbormetrix.com/Registry/public/calculator/uiCalculator/7?menuId=1013
When you fill it out, hit the button at the upper right of the page

Thanks everyone. It's definitely not easy when the person who should be your main cheerleader is your main antagonist.
I'm determined though to become more healthy, and take an active role in my life again despite what anyone thinks; including my husband.

I am right there with you! Originally scheduled for 1/20, but postponed due to covid patients. I just found out on Friday that I am scheduled for 3/1.
During the 4 weeks of not knowing what was going on, I was ready to throw in the towel. Thankfully I have maintained my weight. but need to restart the liver shrink diet ASAP!

I spoke with my doctor's team yesterday ... the nurse said she had just been thinking about me ... she said the VA is canceling bariatric surgery again ( I was originally scheduled Jan4) but she is hopeful that my date of March 8 will be fine. Time will tell. 😏

Congratulations to all the March surgery dates. I was March 9 last year and boy what a year it has been so far. I am currently stuck at about 9 pounds from goal. I may have to add in more exercise to get there but this process really works. Good luck to you all.

I take my hat off to all who are on the pre-op diet during Christmas and New Years. I am nervous about the pre op diet all by itself let alone during the holidays which are usually centered around food. CONGRATULATIONS rather you realize it or not that is no small task and just wanted to encourage all keep it up. I start Jan 4th😬

I’m 55+, RNY 10/2020. Down 130 lbs and celebrating all the things that I can do again… walk for 30 minutes, go up 70 stairs, sit in a seat at the baseball stadium, pick up things I’ve dropped… Celebrate every day!

I'm 54 and had gastric bypass on June 18, 2021. I'm down 45 pounds so far, not too bad for just over 2 months! My biggest challenge so far has been developing aversions to things I used to like (scrambled eggs, tuna, chicken) but I seem to be getting over that now. Good luck on your journey!

I'm 52 and had the gastric sleeve surgery about 3 months ago. Down about 50lbs including the pre-surgery weight loss. That said, I am working out daily and keeping my calories low. The big difference is that my motivation to loose is high because I am seeing success on the scale. Still had to push through a long stall but so far it has been worth it. Still have at least 40 lbs to go.

FourBakes reacted to Laurie C. in Any 45+ year old women on here with gastric bypass experience?
Hi. My name is Laurie. I had the rny bipass surgery 11 months ago. My one year date is 9/14/20. I am 57. I have lost 132# to date. I have 38# to go to hit my goal weight. Everyone says how great that is, but having low stuff esteem, I think of it as a bad thing because I had that much to lose in the first place! That is more than some people weigh all together! I can't believe I let this happen, but I was in a bad marriage. I don't really have an appetite any more, but the hardest problem for me is the not being able to eat and drink at the same time. I get so dehydrated! It's so hard to wait 30 minutes after eating to drink. Sometimes I have a couple sips anyway because I am so thirsty and can't wait. I end up throwing up. Not good for your health, but on the good side, it's only a tiny amount, so it's worth it to me. I used to drink a huge tumbler glass with all my meals, at least. I am tired of Water. I am lactose intolerant, but suffer through it because I'm tired of water and end up not losing as much as I should because I'm drinking my calories. I am starting the process of a double knee replacement surgery and the skin removal surgery. It's not as bad as I thought, but I want the skin gone. With my living arrangements and health, I have not exercised at all. But I would do the surgery all over again in a heart beat. I can't believe I'm not craving food! I thought that would have been the hardest part. In fact, there's probably under 15-20 things I can eat that agree with me. I had only one problem five days out. I had to go back in for another surgery for aspiration pneumonia. Was throwing up blood big time. Other than that, I'm working on me and finally getting a life because I've been a hermit for probably 20 years because of my weight! If your doctor recommended the rny, do it. I'm so glad I did! Sorry so long a post. My first one. Just joined. Really need a support group.

I had RNY at age 55. Lost 100% of my excess weight (over 200 lbs). It was slower than average, yes, but I was very committed to my program and far exceeded my goal.
